Twins Facing a Shakeup Without Massive 2023
RpR replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yeah, they could bring back Simmons who glove is still one of the best and have him work with the excellent Twins batting coaches on hitting.- 46 replies

Hate to say it but when a player runs hard, too far ,is thrown out, that is heart, trying to do more they he/they can but trying any way. IF it is successful, even better. Twins run game shows who has heart and who does not; I love to watch Leon get his short legs moving down the base line, that is heart. -- (as much as he was ridiculed, Astudillo had more heart than 98.6 percent of this team this year.)

Twins Facing a Shakeup Without Massive 2023

90 losses next year, for sure, 100 losses quite probably; just what the paying fans need, and there are not many already.- 46 replies

Twins Facing a Shakeup Without Massive 2023
RpR replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I looked at the Twins records, 2021 compared to 2022. The only top rank team (Early Cleveland this year was lousy unlike now) and the only blow out they had, for them, that was against a good team was against the Yankees 8-1; while the size of the blow-outs agains the Twins this year, were not as horrific as last year, they were still for practical purposes equal in number to last year. They had four with over 12 runs against last year, and two with 12 runs against; this year there was one over 12 and two more at 12 runs allowed. I am rationalizing here, putting blow-out at 10 or more runs but there was only one where the Twins were shut-out last year, with two this year. Had Cleveland not been so bad early on and Detroit lost the oomph they had last year the Twins would be no better or worse this year than last, so next year can only get better.- 46 replies

I will put that as one of the major reason the Twin were here today-gone tomorrow early in the year and the major reason for the late season collapse, while I still believe playing Russian Roulette at DH this year without him, hurt far more than most want to say.

3 Twins Players with Something Left to Prove in 2022
RpR replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
IF Jeffers defensive ability does not improve 200 percent , he does not belong on the Twins team. Arraez is a mystery, some thing changed drastically, some good, home runs, mostly bad, big slump, few walks. Next spring will be very interesting to see who is there, and who stays on the Major League team, I would love to see every one, and I mean every one, who is on the team now in spring training and then get weeded out.- 12 replies

Planning for a Post Correa Reality in Minnesota
RpR replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
He has a .104 batting average, and his SS fielding numbers make Polanco look good a SS, good grief, he belongs in the AAA and nowhere else right now. They would do better bring Simmons back, and he is still as good a fielder as it gets.- 36 replies

Unless they pick up a top line veteran, they have no one as good at third as Urshela, and while Wallner is going to be strong part of the Twins in the future he needs a lot of instruction on fielding so they cannot afford to dump Kepler. Catcher, First Base and Left Field are spot where ??? should/will play next year.

Prospect Retrospective: Matt Wallner
RpR replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Sounds about right, as it was rookies being injured that brought up rookies to take their place. The incompetent fielding by so many rookies is why they do not bring them up sooner, a good bat does not make up for fielding snafu. -

What analytics say Palacios' bat is better in the lineup than Cave, not even considering his glove over Gordon's at second.

Twins problems, hmm, unless Baldelli has decided the season is over and it makes no difference who he puts on the field, in tonight game, Sept.21, he is putting Palacios at second and Gordon in left field. Palacios is NOT a good Second baseman and Gordon is not a good out fielder; Gordon is pretty competent, (except when the ghost of Willie Mays Hays over comes him) at second base and at his worst still better than Palacios. Cave is a good Left Fielder, and better bat than Palacios; the teams Baldelli fields at time make no sense or he is so addicted to analytics, he ignores reality,

Prospect Retrospective: Matt Wallner
RpR replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
22 errors in 3 years in the Minors; put him in Triple A next year so he can learn BASIC BASEBALL SKILLS, some thing many here say the Twins rookies are lacking. We lost two games to Cleveland due to fielding errors, we do not need bats as much as fielders who are not incompetent. -
If Jake Cave can get his batting average up to .250 he will be on the 40 man next year, he is the best left fielder they have; his perfect relay to Correa and then Correa to home is what the twins need, not bouncing throws. IF,, a big IF, Wallner can improve his fielding he may be around a long time, he has a cannon arm. The pitchers have figured out Miranda and now he is in a race to catch Urshela for most hits into a double play.; if he can improve his still shaky fielding skills, he will be around for awhile, at DH if nothing else. Celestino is turning into another Willie May Hays Gordon but Gordon has a good bat. If they lose Correa they will have a big hole at SS, and lose games because of it; they have had two of the best fielding SS for two years and there is nothing to replace that skill set.

Jake Cave in his first year up with fewer at bats was the same wonder boy type player Miranda is; next year wil determine Miranda's future, regardless of how good this year went. Celestino is in a shallow but continual decline with the bat, but does seem to have improved his fielding skills.

The 5 Most Uplifting Developments on the Farm This Year
RpR replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
None of those players are a shoo-in next year (Wallner will be in AAA until he learns how field a ball) Nothing is written in stone for next year except maybe Buxton, Polanco and Kepler; hopefully Correa comes and and ditto for Urshela. Twins fielding with the rookies is a Chinese Fire Drill too often. Any Twin , and I mean any, from this team that want to give the Twins a try will be in Spring Training; the only flier here is if the fron office brings in some veterans as they did in 2019.- 32 replies

How Certain Should We Be About the 2023 Twins?
RpR replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The team went through that in the seventies, Twins fans do not want to see that again and Pohlad's know that will bring the same level attendance the seventies had; it went from a million and quater down to three-quarter of a million. As they are in it for the money, it will not happen.- 25 replies
