I also would argue they looked at the "games missed" stat for JJM and Murray and decided to sign Wentz as insurance against another Brosmer start.

Sure, but it's been three pretty subpar years. I think the shine is off that player. Either way, the value delta is ridiculous.

Waddle and Pittman are pretty similar players the last three years. And Waddle has had Tua most of that time while Pittman was playing with the corpse of Matt Ryan, a literal grandfather, and Gardner Minshew through most of it. I see those dudes as pretty similar. Waddle busted into the league like a rockstar, but he's been pretty middling for awhile now.

How in the blue hell does Michael Pittman only get you 20 spots in the 6th round and Waddle gets you a 1st and a 3rd?

A few guys I like: Jihad Ward and DJ Wonnum both know the defense and likely come cheap. AJ Epenesa is a solid rotation guy. Greg Dortch or Jahan Dotson at WR

It sure seems like Smith might be coming back right? I agree we need to draft one but maybe that changes it from being a Day 1/2 need to a Day 3 need?

I thought, for a guy that had never played there before, that he handled it pretty well. An offseason of being that guy, figuring out protections, etc. and maybe we have that guy. It does mean we are perilously thin at OL depth then.

Right. Allen was hot garbage against the run but the man did get an interior push. At this point it feels like Smith is back at safety and this team is investing a lot of this draft at DT with positions like RB, C, WR, CB, and (hopefully) LB. -
Well...now the last big domino is the Greenard trade if it happens.

Kyler Murray's ability to play 17 games should not be considered reliable. He's had seasons with 5, 8, and 11 in three of the last four seasons. The Vikings should absolutely not be trading McCarthy for some mid round pick. If they do that for one year of Kyler I may seriously have to reconsider my fandom. That's stupid at unconscionable levels.

Well, here's the thing....how many actual starters do they need? By my count: C, RB (sorta), S (If Smith retires and it's starting to sound like he isn't), FB, and DT. That's not a heavy shopping list. So if you can fill in rotational level pieces in FA that makes some sense. Clear the books out from your mistakes and use FA money for rotational/depth guys. It makes sense, but just another symptom of the fail of last year.

Agreed, but even for what I expected to happen (read: quiet) this has been REALLY quiet. The draft fails are really showing up now, that's 100% correct.
