  1. I feel like those are both measured risks and both could still pay off, any pitcher from a Rice workload is a risk. Jury is out and taking a stab at a lottery ticket from time to time isn't the worst thing. The guy at #4 that doesn't have a click link and I hadn't heard of before should be higher.
  2. The same Joe Pohald who couldn't come up with a more flowery management speak deflection for "ummm, no" is actually the poetic philosopher scribe that is Riverbrain? Holy crap. 🤣
  3. I think this is all any of us who push back on the unrelenting negativity are asking. Take those various perspectives on and try to learn something from everyone. We almost certainly don't any employees who are assertive posters. That's pretty obvious. What we do have a ton of perception from all different walks of life, including people who have business experience/ownership at very high levels. We have people who played or umped at high levels. People who have worked in TV/media. People that understand what is happening in a certain situation because of certain experiences in their own careers. Take the perspectives and add to your knowledge, don't lecture from ignorance.
  4. I've been thinking this since Mookie went down. Farmer can still play enough short to cover a couple months and of all the organizations that have a low A ball prospect and a couple million to patch a hole. Somehow Gavin Lux is radioactive at short. They also know him well having drafted him.
  5. Topa. Just like making a trade. Er, again. The help is coming from inside the house, most likely. Most likely trade action would be clearing veterans to make room for the Wallner, Julien and Lee's. Was wondering if the Dodgers would be interested Farmer at short for a couple months. They don't have great infield depth as evidenced by Mookie playing short in the first place and Farmer would be a nice fit in the interim. Not sure what Gavin Lux did that has him apparently off short forever but Farmer is likely better than the call up they are using.
  6. There's a reason Bowden does radio these days.
  7. But seriously, what kind of kindergarten, first day on the internet, can't think your way out of a wet paper bag ******** is this attitude? What the **** is up with people that think this way? I guess if it never occurred to you that you could be wrong about something it might make sense. Just very glad I know who certainly isn't part of the front office around here. We'd be under the A's level if you were.
  8. It ain't a bad gig, if you can get it.
  9. Varland gets to keep starting for a couple more months. Jackson will eat innings in the meantime. It's a regular season vs post season discussion in my mind.
  10. Varland huge this week. Not just that he looked pretty decent again but that he ate 9 1/3 innings in a stretch where extra pitching was needed. Sure, it wasn't the best lineups but taking that stress off the rest of the staff is huge. Bullpen stays on schedule on a day it could have gotten hammered. Well done sir.
  11. Platoon DH spot is 2-5 2 HR, 4 RBI. Couldn't draw that up better.
  12. Paddack, Varland piggy back? Pickle back? Nickleback? With some decent early offense it might be a two pitcher night. Varland on normal rest.
  13. Don't stop there, ban lineups. The mere existence of lineups kills more game threads than all the things the CDC has ever heard of. 😂
  14. Appreciate you putting yourself out here like that. Add to that the ball only has to nick that imaginary line and most fans don't actually know what the zone is. There is an appendix with a picture as well. Now that this definition and lay it over the box you see on TV and it's startling inaccuracy comes to can't look away levels of awful. I look at the batter in his stance and think the box is wrong. Then know the ump doesn't agree with it either. Remove the box! There is no Angel Hernandez addendum.
  15. Christian Vazquez looks like Babe Ruth next to this guy right now. This doesn't compare to any Twins moves or non moves. OPS+ 4. Not a misprint, 4.00 in 120 PA. After being mostly terrible last year too. Someone will try to catch lightning in a bottle on a minor league deal but it wouldn't be me.
  16. Henceforth, the Max Connects. Max Rida. The Max game.
  17. Royce does not look like he is going to be involved in that shot. Chilling in the sweatshirt, working hubba bubba would indicate he's down.
  18. I do not understand the fascination with Pete Alonso on the Twins. For a prospect we've never heard of, sure. At the actual price, what are we thinking? No thank you.
  19. Can't wait for the Austin Schulfer regret piece. I guess we know where all the hits came from. Stolen from Cedar Rapids.
  20. The quality of at bat was excellent tonight, throughout the lineup. Do that against everybody.
  21. Why are half the pictures on the internet flipped? Once you start seeing it, it's everywhere.
