  1. Nice visual of the ribbon board. We fixed it, except for all these dead pixels.
  2. The price is not high, certainly, but a guy that can play shortstop has value. Even if he's slid behind Castro here that doesn't mean he's not better than some other teams options.
  3. Thought the same thing, lets see how the "B" infield looks. Farmer hasn't been getting much action and a spot at short almost has to be someone wanting to get a look at him there. It might even be the Twins themselves just to confirm whatever they are thinking.
  4. Who are they underpaying? Specifically that is unique to the league. There must be some kind of hidden points system on TD for getting in shots at the front office. I never get invited to the fun parties.
  5. It's not just the Twins, it's the CBA and the basic economics of the game. The market for 30 year old solid vets is horrible as it's a stars and paid like scrubs league. The Twins have top 100 prospects pushing him out on top of that. No stopping it. Other than the financial realities Brian is correct as well. Unknown ceiling over known floor in the majority of the cases. When a Gallo doesn't work out you've also missed out on the chance to progress another young piece. There are a ton of good older players out there but they are used as filler. The Royals basically filled out their roster with them and its working so far. Next year might be the opposite.
  6. Yup, and that wasn't going to happen overnight. They completely rebuilt the pitching organization to support the development and have implemented almost the complete opposite of the previous administration. A very underrated part of the success is that they seem to be keeping their guys healthy, for the most part. Knock on wood. Only 6 starters this year so far, the Orioles now have 4 of their guys down for arm issues. Drafting lots of college arms is part of it but they aren't blowing sockets out while still increasing velocity. Also, their one Rice product has always been hurt.
  7. Thielbar up. For the first time since?
  8. He's actually been pretty good up in the zone to my eye. Keep an eye on the top line of the broadcast box and compare it to the rulebook zone. He's right there. The box is off.
  9. Servepro ™️ Like it never even happened.
  10. Noted offensively challenged teams.
  11. I'll take another 8 run effort.
  12. I believe in Willi but nothing really changes. They won't be spending $10m when one of Lee, Julien or Martin is a legit player at 700k. The kids have to play their way onto the field and that minimum level is getting higher every year. Willi is a large part of that but any thoughts of building around him just don't make a lot of sense. He might be a really nice trade piece next year. He's basically been what I thought Farmer would be. He could easily be worth Farmer's salary next year, high level insurance for the kids.
  13. I don't know any of these names and won't bother until they show up on a Twins draft card but I'll take a six pack, thanks. Your pick. This and various shortstops should be about 85% of the draft picks.
  14. The true one tool player is both rare and tough to fit on a roster. The hit tool is really the only single tool that you can get to the bigs with and it's quite limiting when you get there. He is an incredibly interesting player that is one tool short of being a superstar. Love him as a player also but his arbitration and contracts are going to be very interesting. Speedy Arraez would be a 6 WAR player, every year. He could play functional left field, hit .380 and pile up value on the bases. More slug with more hustle doubles and triples. Like a budget Ichiro, minus the arm. That's just one additional tool that he doesn't have. Powerful Arraez fits in any lineup and has plenty of suitors with the universal DH. A 30 HR version of Arraez with the other hit tools intact is a $150-200m player. Budget Soto? Another additional tool he doesn't have. Middle infield Arraez (say, OAA break even at shortstop) is a darn fine player that also fits every roster. Would be playable at 4 spots and not a total liability with no speed. Also a tool he doesn't have. As he is, he's not a fit for a small market team as a high priced player. The Twins and Marlins just can't pay that much for no power, no defense, high average player. They can justify spending on a Correa because he does everything.
  15. There's a reason Bowden is in the media. Cancel your Athletic subscription, they will send you a $1.99 month offer. Funny the Orioles need relief pitching. Can we give them Lopez back? Also out on trading for an unproven asset to fill the RH power spot. They have enough of those guys and the roster is well set up to rent that player type every year.
  16. The accountant is probably good with it too, they understand the cost of having to buy players that fill other players deficiencies. If I had a dollar for every time I had to explain why we needed another tool or piece of equipment.... We just bought a whosit, doesn't it do that? No, that's the whatsit, it's only for Falcons and Hawkers. (The only common tool between Hawkers and Falcons is the Phillips screwdriver and a ballpoint pen) So this Correa guy, he just does everything? Why don't we just buy more of those?
  17. I been saying it. The Twins declared it, the Marlins confirmed it and the Padres are figuring it out. The Padres are a much better fit but he's just a tough player to roster. FWIW, I had the same opinion on Julien until he showed amazing improvements with the glove. Jury still out though. One tool players can never be true regulars, no matter how good the one tool is. As for the Correa part, he's never been fully represented by his stat line. I have a good friend who is an Astros season ticket holder. When Correa first signed I texted him something like "does this mean I have to like Correa now?" He said "dude you are going to love him". He was correct. My apologies sir, for I was unfamiliar with your game. When you watch him everyday you see the whole package. If you just check the B-ref page you would miss so many things. The plantar fasitis wouldn't be well represented either.
  18. Lopez, Jackson and pray for rain?
  19. Would not mind a Buck bunt here. Good one is a hit.
