  1. I say again, these guys deserve all the kudos we can give them operating and thriving in this environment. I don't care what the payroll is if the team is good and we are seeing exactly why they were only working around the edges in the offseason. It's wasn't only right sizing, it's one of the deepest talent pools we've ever seen as Twins fans. And you are absolutely correct the overspend already happened. A chief revenue officer that didn't work out didn't help either.
  2. "they knew there was a need for more top-tier starting pitching talent." This was what caught my attention as well. What evidence is there for that other than TwinsDaily articles?
  3. I guess that makes Staumont a no leverage reliever? 5 pitches in the last week? Must be something up.
  4. Felt like a months worth of misplays, non plays, bone head plays and shanks in the series. Winning a series playing like this is a pretty good sign.
  5. A true if the tree falls in the woods kinda discussion.
  6. Attebery called Gardys nightmare. Have to think Gardy would let him try to get a bunt down though.
  7. I was told there would be no math.
  8. He's 74 years old. 🤷‍♂️
  9. Why am I thinking about Ben Revere again?
  10. Run down anything in the outfield though.
  11. At least it will most likely stay a one run game.
  12. He did from the first point of a tag attempt. It's closer to interference with a fielder than it is out of the baseline.
  13. The first and most important thing to know about the base path is that there is no such thing as a base path (none exists) until a play is made on a runner. The base path is established when a fielder with the ball attempts to tag a runner. Then, and only then, is there a base path. And the base path is a straight line from the runner's position to the base to which he is advancing or retreating. Not my text. From umpire Bible.
  14. I think he did vary from his set running lane but not for the purpose of avoiding the tag but for the interference with the fielder. You could call either there I would think. Fielder gets priority over a runner in the area of the play being made. He got away with it because he didn't change speed. One hesitation and it's an obvious call. It's an unfortunate miss but hard to call in the moment as the combination of two rules where you think, something wasn't right there. He should have called a delayed interference and figured it out in conference.
  15. The rule is the runner sets the baseline.
  16. As of today our Minnesota Twins would field a playoff type lineup of 9 above league average (by OPS) hitters and not have any odd positional issues. Lowest OPS would be Kepler. Castro 2B Larnach LF Lewis 3B Kepler RF Correa SS Santana 1B Jeffers C Buxton CF Miranda DH Your order may vary. That's a nice bottom three though. Pretty nuts considering March.
  17. The money fingers picture at the head of this article is quite appropriate. Every time he does that celebration it gets more expensive. He says he's got enough money already and lives frugaly, which I believe, but he also hired Boras for a reason. This is a tough one with Buxton and him on long contracts with injury history might be a tough risk. The time to do it would be now which makes it even tougher. It's probably more likely they'd try to buy one or two more years into free agency and setup another contract than try to buy his entire career.
