  1. Nah, Chief places a higher value on telling people they are wrong. Keaschall just became a top 100 prospect and slid into the futures game under the radar, just like this guy. Neither is a top 100 on fangraphs big board, they the Keaschall as a 45fv and DLS as 40fv as a DH. Its closer than one would think but if you want to put a Schobel in his place I wouldn't argue much, the second guy would have to be better in that case. Its a heavy price. 21 year olds raking in AAA have a lot of value. Did you just contradict yourself in the same post?
  2. Equivalent pay from the Twins system is Keaschall and another piece. Bowen maybe. That's nuts. This is an absolute fleecing. If the Twins traded a guy that turned 21 at AAA while OPSing over 1.000 with real power for an average lefty reliever these boards would burn down. Regardless of that guys defensive limitations. And Chief would lead the charge.
  3. I thought the pay for Puk was very high. Barely 21yo mashing (28hr/1.011OPS!) at AA/AAA and was in the futures game=Keaschall or Erod plus another good piece of ours. They were 8 and 21 on the D-backs list. No thanks. Methinks remember the name Deyvison De Los Santos. He's a perfect rule 5 darling. What the heck is Tanner Scott worth?
  4. The simple answer is because he was executing on the wishes of the dying owner who wanted to go for it. Not picking on your post, just echoing a reminder that they don't work for us and when they do things that don't make sense to us it's because they have other priorities that we don't like. Meanwhile I see you've said all the right things about this silly post, looks like you've got it covered. I am wondering if we are going to see some interviews with these guys, was just looking for any comments from anyone to confirm conjecture. They are very quiet. It might just be the best though, considering their hoof in mouth tendancies.
  5. Does Kikucki profile as someone with stuff that plays up in the bullpen? I would tend to agree that he doesn't pass the Ober line as a starter but he could fill some starter innings with Festa et al then transition to the pen. The lefty reliever is my primary concern for the deadline and he could help multiple ways.
  6. Obviously the bent on this will be "they got $15m and didn't spend it!" Just your daily reminder we have no idea and almost no chance of knowing how much money was received and spent. Just like the off-season TV money. It could theoretically allow them to trade for a player without adding salary but the money allowed them to make a trade without the other team taking on money for more prospects. We would never know, but that seems like a pretty possible scenario that would satisfy MLB requirements behind the scenes. My read on this is that the TV revenue issue is worse than most think. If its at the level that MLB thinks they need to step in for multiple teams and $5 to 15m makes the difference the margins are too tight for comfort in a lot of places.
  7. This is not in evidence, pure conjecture, your honor! Unmentioned in the article is that he has the potential of a qualifying offer attached so the price will have to be higher than that. That means something like Keaschall would be the cost. Too much for me but Raya and something else not in our top 10 might be interesting.
  8. Hoping for that, he has a path there. If that's more of the Twins plan, the cost goes up internally. That would indicate they like him a lot. He's been playing more second base lately though, but that's what I would do until the deadline as well.
  9. Shush. no talks of trading good assets! This is a key point in all the trade retrospectives that we don't remember, the other team has to see value. I'm not asking for Lee or Jenkins, mostly because I know its a non starter or costs me one of my best assets. I'm not asking about Raya, I just don't see it. I'm asking hard on Zebby, but if the price is low I get suspicious. E-Rod and Festa are interesting but also very expensive. As an opposing GM, I'd probably make a push for Keashall and Schobel. Having done my research on the Twins I know the infield is very crowded and they just drafted more. They look like ball players at a minimum. I'd also get with my hitting staff and see if we thought we could buy low on Julien or Kirilloff. As the Twins GM, I'd like to have someone call on Raya and I would be completely comfortable if he had a nice career. I like Keashall a lot, but they are selling from the middle infield group by design. I'd rather see Schobel go but could live with either. I'll be happy to see our outgoing players be successful elsewhere, it's good to be known as a good place to shop. Gotta give to get.
  10. This thread reads like a great Shakespearian tragedy. Some of you need to touch grass.
  11. The question is has any reporter asked any specific questions about payroll and the deadline. All I see is reckless speculation.
  12. I hope you can see why asking the actual questions and getting the actual answers is more important than your fantasy land story.
  13. You have to actually ask the questions. Then ask follow up questions. It's literally the job. It's another job to try and interpret it.
  14. That's my point. Just ask them if you're a reporter. Proof in the pudding means nothing if we are comparing it to our fantasy world. Ask them, then compare it to what they did. It's simple actually. I did go looking through recent Falvey interviews to check, it seems he's been awfully quiet this year. Don't miss your chances.
  15. Hopefully your ticket reps will trade you some media literacy classes. Nothing you claimed in your summation is true. Neither MLBTR or Jeff Passen who's report they site does anything but speculate. Please don't use it to confirm your priors. No reporting, no front office comment since November(!) and no reason to trust anything they are writing. It's message board level random speculation. This is how narratives are set. It's circular reporting and it's lazy garbage. Actual recent front office comments indicate they are looking for pitching, both Falvey and assistant GM Carlos Correa made on the record statements saying just that. They could be just talking crap, obviously, but has some intrepid reporter asked them point blank about money and the deadline?
  16. Hmm, good thing Rocco still had Jeffers available.
  17. You should probably do most prospect evaluation when you are sober.
  18. Couple hard hit balls and almost 90 pitches. I'd say well done and call it a day.
  19. This is certainly one of their skills, should setup nice. 9 pitch first at bat...
  20. The taxi ride across town is enough to get his stomach in his throat.
