  1. I did wonder if Kikuchi could play up in the pen but I'm in the same place. My want for a starter is something of a unicorn, either a Snell type or this years Cole Ragans.
  2. I'm almost more interested in an off the radar piece, I don't know who but I've got a type. I'm thinking a left handed AAA starter that they think will be a legit bullpen piece this year and still has starter potential. Someone we've never heard of is right up their alley. Or just Tanner Scott. I'm easy.
  3. Is this just one of those thing that gets repeated often enough it becomes established or do we actually have some reporting on it? My sources, err Doogie, is saying in multiple tweets that there is room to spend for a true improvement.
  4. They have also shifted their drafting mindset in the last few years to, I think, increase available trade chips. Fast moving shortstop types are the best non-pitcher trade chips out there and they are flush with them. They certainly have the pieces to make some moves without hamstringing themselves. Kudos to them for putting themselves in a good spot. The business and marketing stuff is correct but not enough questions are being asked about a chief business and revenue officer that was only here a short time and delivered on few of the stated goals on hire (sleeve patches etc). I don't think the current issues are as much about spend as converting revenue. Unfortunately spend is the victim. Still on ownership and DSP for a major hire that didn't work out for whatever reasons but the impact is just as bad as a major free agent turning into a pumpkin.
  5. In both of these cases it is not reporting that says this, its not even presented as having asked someone. If they have someone saying something, put it in the piece. I still have not seen one instance of a reporter asking any Twins official if there are financial issues at the deadline. Ask them about these pieces of reporting. Meanwhile, Falvey was on MLB Radio this morning saying nothing of the sort. He did say the standard stuff he says every year, which means anything could happen. It also might be a quiet deadline for Twins fans, as they should be looking only for high end help. It may not come through.
  6. I think we are wisely coalescing around the idea the quality is the only important factor at this deadline. Marginal improvements just won't do it. Unfortunately, that means we may have a quiet deadline. I'm OK with that but I'll probably take a few days off of the site if it happens. Snells option isn't a factor with a player of his quality. A team will be willing to pay what seems a high price because the upside is 40 ace innings in the playoffs. It's the aisle the Twins absolutely should be shopping in. I'm afraid it will be one team that blows the top off to win and convince the Giants to sell. I think Falvey has that move in his arsenal but his history would suggest he's not likely to make it unless it's an overwhelming win. Money won't matter. He didn't get this roster where it is by throwing things around. Lockdown lefty from the pen, ace starter. That's the list for me. As @USAFChief has been saying, any three prospects you want. I'm willing to endure future TD articles bemoaning their absence. My price is any three prospects unless one of them is in the top 5, excluding Lee and Jenkins. Erod or Zebby you only get two total pieces. That's a lot for a rental, but it's the only kind of piece that makes sense. It may be a quiet deadline.
  7. That's such a Minnesota sports fan thing to do! LMAO! Props for awareness.
  8. Cept they don't count. Plate Appearance.
  9. Gotta think Maeda is the bulk guy today?
  10. Probably not, lucky 72 mph exit velo off the hands is confirmation of the "spreadsheet". Those that use "spreadsheets" don't use results as an indicator of success of the process.
  11. I don't hate that idea. It's probably a better deterrent than the tit for tat method. The penalty isn't that pitcher having to hit and get hit, its multiple outs inserted into your lineup. Might be 5 at bats in this game and the clean up hitter gone. It doesn't happen all that often but that severe of a penalty changes approach drastically.
  12. But not a stat padder. Middle middle, let's get out of here.
  13. I, did not. 🤮
  14. That's not a player comparison, its an asset value comparison. Cory started talking strikeout rates and such which means nothing in this conversation. I'm not going to spend hours on a post to make it so crystal clear the Chief can't find something to misconstrue. I'll be at the golf course. If you want to discuss what I'm saying, I'm all ears. If you want ant-**** my posts for something to pick at, I'm not your guy. You do not want my full attention. I would suggest you stand down. I hope that's clear enough.
  15. My most humblest apologies. I gave far to much credit to reading comprehension skills on the internets.
  16. I think it would be more likely they trade out of the AAA non-prospect type for a rental reliever. Kiersey or Helman might be more interesting to the Marlins than an A ball unknown.
  17. Don't get caught up in the names, I'm not making a player comparison. Its two of our top 20 prospects with one of them out of the top ten. For 2.5 years of AJ Puk. I'm not saying I wouldn't do it, if I believed the new Puk is real, but not trusting relievers is kinda the default setting. It does establish a range for Tanner Scott. Rental but higher quality. Is the cost roughly the same? If he's the real target the Twins have some very valuable info to go after him now. If Tanner Scott is the only outcome of this deadline, I'd be tickled pink.
  18. I've noticed a theme.
