  1. I think the other factor not yet mentioned is the relative tax situations of Maryland, Minnesota and Florida. It affects the price greatly.
  2. Why would you be so certain when every reasonable examination of the situation would suggest the opposite is far more likely to be true. Did they get a CBA waiver for non-baseball related debt?
  3. I'm trying to tell you that you should because it doesn't matter. Not one bit, It would be interesting to know how much debt the Rays have, sure. The Mets sold with $350m debt for a comparison. Every sold business has debt and every transaction sorts it out. I went looking again for, as you say, Pohlad connected sources, for the debt from other businesses angle. The only thing out there is Twins Daily fan fiction. The kind that gets letters from lawyers.
  4. Please, please, please put heavy emphasis on the speculation about the debt. Nobody serious has reported it yet the Pohlad hate will make something like that too sweet not to believe. Never mind that number is nowhere near possible per the CBA. There are restrictions on non baseball related debt for obvious reasons. Not that I doubt there is debt, quite the opposite actually. I would be willing to bet quite a lot that Tampa has a similar debt load (From operations and hurricanes) but it’s not being used as a red herring in the negotiations. As many have mentioned, debt load on a property/business/franchise is not a new problem for anyone lightly interested in these deals and it isn’t a problem for selling the Twins. What we are most likely seeing is that they are more correct on market value than Forbes (shocker) and willing to wait. The O’s are probably a pretty good marker as well. Stop talking about the debt.
  5. He went to the Rangers as a free agent. There was never a path for him to sign with the Twins. The Rangers aren't part of the trade equation.
  6. Protect the hand! He's not getting a time benefit from hand position, his technique had improved greatly. In the 4th yesterday his technique was crap with Elly on base and got worse after the hand got hit. Watch it again. Can't throw me out doing the splits to catch a high fastball, much less Elly. Same bad technique allows a delayed steal as well. The hand two inches into his lap makes no difference, it's not worth the risk of getting it hit.
  7. That's on Jeffers. Protect your damn hand.
  8. Guess it should have been Kiersey for Bride.
  9. Bader home run in three parks. Yankees big field, Yankees junior field and this one. I guess since it did go out in Great America is has to count but the statcast guys have another anomaly.
  10. Whoda thunk we would see Wallner here. Crazy. Fire Rocco, hurdur.
  11. Comparing the catching pipeline to the pitching pipeline is the height of game thread absurdity..
  12. Jeffers made three errors that inning. I hope his hand is OK and this is a benching.
  13. This one is on Jeffers. I don't get the need to put his throwing hand in jeopardy like that. He checked out after. He's been hit multiple times this year too.
  14. I’ve heard he’s terrible at third base, if that helps. Wut? When the heck else would he play? Unfortunately this exact circumstance is why he is still on the roster-in case Lewis got hurt. I know this is a game thread but come on.
  15. Wow, I had him going to the Mariners for a long time but the Giants are kinda the same thing. If you can’t sign bats due to your ballpark, trading for a signed Devers makes so much sense.
  16. FWIW, my imbeded Astros fan sent me a text impressed with how Royce was staying on the field late to sign autographs after the game. He didn't think he was injured or anything at the time. I thought I saw injury on TV but he couldn't see it. Whatever it was, it wasn't what was in spring training. He was very emotional then.
  17. Off as in like Peters expectations or off like laying on the floor?
  18. I’ve often wondered how an 8 man rotation might look. Double piggyback for 4 innings and a couple closer types. Three more arms for variations but everyone goes hard for 4 innings max. Never a third time through the order. Probably pretty far fetched for the bigs but I like it a lot as a way to equalize lower minor league innings and maximize opportunities for development.
