Very good article. Seems like a common thread for our younger pitchers. IF they pitch well they will be good. Imagine that. What a great philosophy and strategy.

It just goes to show that most of the hype we read about concerning " prospects" is just that: hype. And I find it strange, almost amusing, that people criticize other people for their assessment that JB was somehow immature. People criticize the comment with well have you ever met him? I'm sure not. Just the same as the person's that criticize that person who critiqued his maturity level. Had they ever met JB either? Likely not. Anyway good luck JB. Who knows he may clear waivers and wind up in st paul.

It is interesting. I hope the Royals do well this year. The Twins could use good competition.

Interesting transactions recently to the bullpen. Most low cost and low risk. Also most that are coming off injury, are untested have limited experience and that have been dumped by other teams. Time will tell how it all works out.

I think it's a decent stop gap move for one year. After all he had 23 Homer's and 86 rbi last year. At the same time it would be nice to let our young players prove whether or not they belong in the big leagues.

As this off season goes: yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn. That includes the salary dumping trade of Polanco

Santana doesn't move the needle much for me. We may as well go with one of our internal options. This team does have a lot of holes. Not gaping one really but holes none the less. The starting pitching while great last year is now iffy. Too.many unproven starters and players you hope do well. Same with the young talent. Very good potential but very unproven. Best thing would be for the young guys to step up and show their potential.

I'm glad everyone is so excited about our prospects. Most never pan out. I don't mind trading Polanco just thought maybe they could have gotten at least one good player in return. The pitchers we got just seem to add to the long list of questionable pitchers. The starter us a one year person and our new reliever had mire tommy john surgeries vs goof seasons. 2 tommy John to 1 good season. I'm hoping they both work out. Yes, like the Twins FO, hoping!

Not much of a great trade for Twins at this point. Desclafani is probably a one year fill in as he is a free agent at the end of 2024 season. Plus he's making around 12 million so I doubt they will extend him. Also the reliever we got is ok but realistically he's only had one decent year. He is injury prone. Sounds like a typical Twin. The 6-8 million in cash may be the best IF Twins use it to acquire some more talent and not just to improve the bottom line. Yes it was time to move Polanco. At this time has it made the 2024 team better. No way.

Hard to say about this deal until it plays out. The salaries are similar in that Seattle us sending 6 million to Twins as part of the deal. Desclafani is a free agent at the end of the 2024 season. And at hus current salary of 12 million it seems unlikely the Twins would extend him. So he is probably just a one year fill in starter. That leaves a reliever and two prospects essentially plus long term salary dump for Polanco. Meh

Seattle is reporting it to be 6 million back to the Twins.

The division remains weak and winnable by most if the teams. It could easily be said that the Tigers and the Twibs overachiever last year. To the Twins credit they took advantage of thr other teams seemingly unwillingness to be competitive. As for the Twins needing starting and relief pitching, don't forget we had it last year. Could have had it this year by keeping what they had. But they seem unable or unwilling to pay the market rates for proven quality. They had that right in the palm of their hand and let them leave. I hope the division is much more competitive this year. I think that could make the Twins even better.

Great article Seth! Well researched and written.

Congratulations Joe. Thanks for all the great memories during your 15 year career!

Nice thorough article. You lost me though when you said Blyleven talked his way in. Your implication being he was somehow unworthy is offensive and ignorant.
  16. Whitey333
Great article Nick. Great career Joe. Very well deserved!!
  17. Whitey333
Yawn, yawn, yawn. It's a very good article. Just not going to happen.
  18. Whitey333
Great article! Well written and researched. I haven't been able to watch the Twins ( nor Wild, and Timberwolves, and others) at home for over 3 seasons., due to the very limited availability of Bally Sports on the various media outlets. The Twins promised three years ago they were go

The Twins promised three years ago they would find a solution to twins broadcasts quickly. With bally sports not available on most systems for years, most Twins fans have been left in the dark. The Twins didn't keep their promise then. I don't expect them to now.
  20. Whitey333
Underrated? No. Overrated? Yes like many current Twins players. Pitch framing is a joke and an embarrassment to umpires and baseball in general. It's understandable for 3rd and 4th graders but has absolutely no business in professional baseball.
  21. Whitey333
The lack of a TV deal does hurt. However, many other teams are signing players and free agents. The Twins, I realize, are one of the few teams that don't have a deal and this bankruptcy thing with Diamond sports keeps getting postponed. But it gives the Twins a crutch for not spending money.
  22. Whitey333
They should do like they used to. Keep home games to a minimum in April. Last year they played 16 home games in April. Their most home games of any month last year. I know they don't make the schedule but they do have approval rights. Just win baby and the fans come.
  23. Whitey333
Triple yawns on this "addition" boring and nothing. The relief pitching bottom of the dumpster purge is going on.
  24. Whitey333
I'm sure the Twins will love him and.use him a lot. He comes cheap.
  25. Whitey333
Provus was excellent on the radio. Gladden is good but Provus makes him better. While the TV broadcasting may be significantly better with Provus I'm afraid it will be to the detriment of the radio broadcast. Provus painted a great picture of the game for fans. Kris Attaberry needs to to done it down a lot. Like a previous person said less can be more. He needs to slow down with all the bantering about past experiences, and mundane stories. When him and Gladden start talking it seems they forget there is a game going on.
