Why Get a Second Opinion For an Elbow Injury?

Predicting Minnesota’s Next 4 Top Prospects to Debut
Karbo replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I don't know of any evidence, but I do know from playing sports when I was younger (too many years ago) that having a good year and winning does give you a better feel that you can do it again the next year.- 30 replies

Week in Review: A (Familiar) Bronx Tale
Karbo replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Kepler is a great athlete, but he needs somebody to get across to him that its a big field out there. He is trying to pull everything, so much he's pulling off the ball too much. If he could work on going with the pitch, his avg. would go up, and pitchers would change how they pitch to him, giving him more pitches he could pull. -
Predicting Minnesota’s Next 4 Top Prospects to Debut
Karbo replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I would keep the Saints players there until the season is done. hopefully they can get a good taste of a playoff run and be hungry for more. Learning to win is important, and the Saints seem to be learning their lessons well. Go Saints!- 30 replies

Miranda Mania: 3 Ways To Get Him To Minneapolis
Karbo replied to Nash Walker's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Keep Miranda in St. Paul until the Saints are done playing. Let the guy have experience playing in the playoffs. It may be an important step for his future. The Twins are going nowhere so his presence in the lineup really means nothing. -
With the season Miranda is having I would move him up higher on the list

I would agree . If this was the roster the FO stuck with the stands would get pretty empty by the all star break. Fortunately for us, the FO has alot more common sense than that. LOL

Twins Options at Shortstop in 2022
Karbo replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Please don't mess with Polanco. The guy is great at 2nd, seams to be much more comfortable there than he did at short, and he's healthy again. Don't mess with a good thing. Try Martin or Maranda or sign a FA. You can move Arraez around to get him ABs as he really isn't a "good" fielder at any position, besides the guy can't play on regular basis due to his knees. -
In Defense of the Twins Front Office
Karbo replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I've posted here before and I'll say it again now, if the FO had signed 2 maybe 3 average bullpen arms we would be looking at a lot better record today. Someone out there can tell us how many leads were blown this year vs. how many normally are blown. Next is the decision on field manager. Is Rocco the guy we want running a younger team? Sure he was MOY in 2019, but with a veteran club. I wonder if he is the right guy for the job without a guy like Cruz to lead the way in the clubhouse. -
I'm not going to be so quick ruling out the possibility of the Twins signing a Free Agent Pitcher, maybe not one of the above though. They wanted to sign Berrios but his agent was clear they were not going to sign before free agent hit. Why not get the package they got now if thats the case? Of the above Pitchers I think Thor and Stroman will have plenty of interest from other teams driving the price well above the worth. The best value may be Ray, or possibly Rodriguez due to a less than stellar history.

I agree it was a win for the FO this year. I wasn't surprised they didn't find a buyer for Simmons or Colome considering the contracts and seasons they both have had, I am surprised (but kind of glad) that Pineda is still here, and hope its a sign that they plan to extend or re-sign him. I will miss Jose and Nellie and hope they meet in the playoffs, And maybe pull for one of them to get to hoist the trophy! I will be really thrilled if the FO decides to bring back Nellie next season!

The Twins Starting Pitcher With the Most To Prove
Karbo replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I see Ober long term more as a setup guy in the pen. 1 or 2 innings max effort strike thrower to get to the closer. Still needs more refinement, but with some of the other young arms behind him that profile more as starters, I see his stuff working better in a setup role, which this team needs alot. -
If the Twins are going to continue o sign "older" pitchers with a track record of some success then its on the Twins AND that player to follow thru on that players strengths that gave him that record of success. I don't know what transpired with Shoe but he was a pretty decent pitcher before coming to the Twins, and since going down to AAA he's looked good. Is it because lower level or because he's pitching his way?

Did the Twins Win or Lose the Trade Deadline?
Karbo replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Though I'm sad to see both Cruz and Berrios gone, looks tp me like the FO got a healthy return for both players. I'm shocked they got anything really for Happ, though it seems like the Cards had kind of given up on Danks, and I know nothing about the player they got from Boston. What I do know is the next 2 months could very well be very hard to watch as the major league teams beat up our minor league pitchers. The FO had better bring in at least 1 Top of the line starter and 2 avg. or better starters plus either through trades or free agency and rebuild the bullpen before the start of next season if they want to have any chance of being competitive.- 60 replies

Five Takeaways for the 2021 Twins
Karbo replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I agree the FO has done a good job in the past. I look back at this season so far and actually think that the major problem is the bullpen, an area which should be an area relatively cheap to repair for next season. I dont know the exact numbers,(I'm sure someone does) but from watching most of the games it seems like we have a lead and we lose it late more than I've seen in several years. If they don't trade Berrios, re-sign Pineda, with Maeda that would be 3 starters then they could fill in the other 2 from minor prospects, and concentrate on signing 1 or 2 quality relievers and filling in the rest with average bullpen arms. The cost? Not as much as buying a 1 or 2 front line starters just to see their lead get blown anyway. If the season starts out well and things look good then try to sign Berrios to an extension(provided he isn't traded today).- 57 replies

Trade Deadline Tracker: Twins' News and Rumor Roundup
Karbo replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Looks like the FO wants a ransom for Berrios or Buxton (rightfully so ) in the hopes that this season was a 1 and done. I still expect a trade of Pineda, but trading Donaldson and his salary is a tricky situation. Simmons and his .220 avg. isn't going to garner much if any interest either. What do you really expect clubs will give for Colome, not much if anything, would just be a salary dump. Maybe FO could have traded Kepler, but without knowing the offer its hard to say. -
Looks like Seattle is out. Trading Graveman signals they will be sellers not buyers.

I agree that we can't really judge without knowing both sides. Given Bucks injury problems, I would want to sign him to a reasonable guarantee with several escalators built in if I was running the FO. As a player of course I want the big salary guaranteed. Question is will some other team pay that? Answer is probably yes. If the current FO feels that way then I guess the only responsible move is to get the best package they can in a trade. Hate to see him go but in a mid size market I don't think you pay 1 player 20 mil+ a year to play less then 100 games.
-
The rumor has it that even at that time of the Cruz trade some in the FO had expressed hope of re-signing him next year. Any thoughts on that happening?

Only time will tell how this trade works out. On paper it looks good. However, paper can't show the little things like clubhouse leadership that this club needs that the veteran Cruz gave. I will really miss Nellie and will be pulling for the Rays to win it all. Next season we can all see if these if either of these 2 pitchers are able to help the big club take the next step.
-
I wish Nellie the very best! A total class act. I don't know anything about the return we got, I just hope at least 1 of them can contribute next year.

I agree with Tarheel that if they could coach him to take outside pitches the other way more Max would raise his avg. and the league would probably change the way they pitch him, which may result in getting more pitches to pull in the long run.

What Happened Between Josh Donaldson and Luis Arraez?
Karbo replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It looks to me like Arraez was looking at the outfielders positions and was slow getting off the base distracting JD. I do agree that Rocco should of been involved and maybe he did get involved later off camera, who knows.
