  1. It is not a technological problem to have a 3 dimensional strike zone. It is not a problem to adjust the height of the strike zone for each player. They could set the strike zone's for the players in Spring Training. Its run by a computer for God's sake.
  2. We have the technology. Let technology call the balls and strikes. Better for the players. Better for the game.
  3. This is baseball. When you are hot...you are hot. The strength of the opposition can mean little... or not.
  4. When you follow a team, season after season, good seasons and bad, the small things become a big deal. We can all be thankful that the Twins have played interesting baseball this year regardless of the results. And after all ... is results really the only reason we are fans ?
  5. All I know is that when each game starts, I feel the starting pitcher has a reasonable chance of throwing a good game.No Kevin Correa or Sam Deduno in this rotation... Thank God.
  6. Joe Mauer has a .351 batting average with runners in scoring position. This is topped only by Sano's .366 average. I'll take Joe's stats any day.
  7. From Molitor's perspective (with his head up his ass ) Nunez is a good SS.
  8. NO ! To me it seems he is managing scared. Too often taking what he thinks is the safest choice.
  9. lets hope for 10 more games like last night.
  10. So far, he has not self destructed. I am glad I am wrong. but I would rather trade him for a catcher than depend on him.
  11. He's young. He may be distracted by booze and women. How many times have we seen that happen ?
  12. Move Mauer to the 7th spot in the batting order now! 1. Hicks (S) 2. Dozier (R ) 3. Rosario (L) <<< 4. Sano (R ) 5. Plouffe (R ) 6. Hunter (R ) 7. Mauer (L) <<< 8. Suzuki (R ) 9. Escobar (S) this way our 4 fastest players are batting consecutively. Hunter has Mauer batting behind him. Mauer doesn't really need a top hitter batting behind him.
  13. No effin way Beltre should be in the HOF. I remember his Seattle days when I often had him on my Fantasy team. No Mother-effin way !!!
  14. I hate all conversations about pitch framing. The idea of pitch framing is the assumption that the umpires often make bad calls. Since the umpires get many calls wrong, and we currently have the technology to call balls and strikes with 100% accuracy using cameras and whatnot .... then MLB should let technology call the pitches and leave the umpires out of it.
  15. I don't know who the best hitting coaches or pitching coaches are in the Twins system. However, it always seemed to me that the best hitting and pitching and fielding coaches should be minor league coaches and they should also be amongst the best paid coaches in any system. I wonder how many good players have been lost thru mediocre or incompetent coaching ? I wonder what the "best practices" are amongst coaches? I've heard that Bruno has some great power hitting drills. Are these same drills being used throughout the system ? If not, why not? I wonder how much attention is being paid to the "makeup" of the players ? Considering the potential value of the players, shouldn't they all be given psychological counseling starting the moment they enter the system ? Why let players "figure things out" on their own ? Having someone professional to talk to could be the difference between having a Major League career or just being a prospect.
  16. It seems like Santana and Hughes are pitching like ace's, but what should we do if Pelfrey gives us another bad game ?
  17. Since the All-Star Break the Twins have lost 3 straight series. Is this a cause for concern ? Sun July 26 vs NYY @ MN - Gibson allowed 5 earned runs in the 6th inning. Sat July 25 vs NYY @ MN - Milone allowed 3 earned runs in the 7th inning. Fri July 24 vs NYY @ MN - Hughes allowed 0 earned runs through the 7th inning. Thur July 23 vs LAA @ LA - Santana allowed 0 earned runs through the 8th inning. Wed July 22 vs LAA @ LA - Pelfrey allowed 4 runs (2 earned) in 6 innings. Tue July 21 vs LAA @ LA - Gibson allowed 4 earned runs in the 5th inning without recording an out. (6 earned runs total) Sun July 19 vs OAK @ OAK- Milone allowed 7 runs (5 earned) in 2.2 innings. Sun July 18 vs OAK @ OAK- Hughes allowed 1 run in 7 innings. Sun July 17 vs OAK @ OAK- Santana allowed 0 runs in 7.1 innings. Should we be worried ?
  18. I agree. The numbers say that Kepler should be advanced to AAA. However... the Twins Front Office may something that we don't know.
  19. never ever trade an everyday player for a pitcher. It almost always fails. (see Meyer) (see May - who has given us a good 2015 while the Phillies have gotten 3 good years of every day play from Revere).
  20. Right now Plouffe is ranked the #9 active 3rd Baseman in Baseball for the season, using Yahoo Fantasy League stats. (This compares Runs, HR, RBI, Stolen Bases & Batting Average.) He is rated only behind Josh Donaldson of Toronto, Manny Machado of Baltimore and in a virtual tie with Kyle Seager of Seattle. Plouffe is clearly one of the top 3rd basemen in the game and could be traded straight up for a top-flight catcher.
  21. Arrrgh! Now this means I'm going to have to watch all the rest of the games to the bitter end, regardless of the score.
  22. It is no secret that I question Hicks' character. A player that comes to a game and doesn't know who the opposing starting pitcher is has serious problems. However, he is a fine fielder, except after making a critical error he comes down with an injury ??? Anyone who has had to deal with an alcoholic or drug addict is familiar with this type of self-sabotaging behavior (I am not saying that Hicks is an alcoholic or drug addict, but he demonstrates the character weaknesses that they have.) He is not interested when he should be interested. He is not focused when he should be focused. He is always needing people to make excuses for him because "something happened" that prevented him from doing what he should have done, All that being said, he can change. Someone can enter his life that can help him change. Help him focus on the job at the time he needs to be focused on his job. He can be a terrific defender. He can hit for power and average and get his share of walks. I think Torii Hunter. has had a positive influence on Hicks, and perhaps he will "grow up" during this 2015 season. One can only hope.
  23. In case you haven't noticed, Nunez has been a very productive hitter. His defense is no worse than Santana. I like it that he has been getting regular opportunities at SS.
  24. Hicks ? If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't believe it
