  1. Safe ? I believe the Twins should always put their best lineup on the field. Hicks has not shown the maturity to play in the majors. Whats wrong with letting Schafer hold center until Buxton is ready ? Meyer & May can throw a few games in Rochester while we see if Pelfrey, Nolasco and Milone really have recovered and are the Major league pitchers they were in the past. We should all take a breath and see how the year plays out.
  2. I hope the hitters hit when the pitchers falter and that the pitchers pitch when the hitting struggles. I hope that Perkins is healthy and has no blown saves and that they have a difficult time finding a spot for the players in the minors.
  3. Dalton Hicks was not a high pick but he has moved right up the ladder.
  4. From MiLB this seems to be the Rochester Roster >>> http://www.milb.com/roster/index.jsp?sid=t534 This is the Chattanooga Lookouts Roster >>> http://www.milb.com/roster/index.jsp?sid=t498
  5. Arcia is either going to improve, in which case he will be amongst the better LF. or Arcia won't hit enough to cover his defensive weakness, in which case Arcia will find himself playing fewer than 300 AB and we will bring up one or more of our OF prodigy's, or maybe they will bring up Sano and Plouffe will find himself playing LF.
  6. If the Twins have a 10+ game improvement in 2015, then the 5 AL Central teams are all going to be "pretty good". Then they will probably beat up on each other and the winner of the Division will only win about 90 games. That means the Twins can be playing meaningful games in September. That is all we can ask for. We can look forward to a pennant race and the introduction of Buxton, Sano and Rosario into the lineup and a pennant race. Won't that be fun ?
  7. I am loosing my faith in Ryan, I was not pleased with the trades for May and Meyer. Never trade an everyday player for a pitcher, not to mention for a pitching prospect. But tall pitchers develope slowley, so maybe there is hope for the future. I was not pleased that they keep giving Hicks chances. I am definately a Hicks hater. His attitude stinks and he gives us nothing but excuses.
  8. Pelfrey is said to be a good guy in the duggout and a mentor for younger pitchers. It is no surprise that he says that he will be professional and do his best as a reliever. Who knows. This could be the best thing to happen to him and the Twins.
  9. How many times did someone say "Spring Training stats don't mean anything." ???
  10. Remember the days when Mauer and Morneux always seemed to be knocking balls to the gaps with runners on base ? This is what we need from Mauer and Dozier and Vargas and Plouffe and Arcia. We need hits with RISP.
  11. I watch the Twins a lot for their fielding. Pitcher in trouble - men on base - pitch to contact - ground balls >> Dozier & SS. Enjoyed Florimon and Dozier the most. Saw great improvement by Plouffe but mainly Dozier stands out. He may have more errors but he certainly has far more chances. 2nd most in AL. Tied for 5th most Put-Outs. The most assists and the 4th most DP. The eye test says that Dozier is one of the best.
  12. Its not fair! If you can't "dislike" a post there is no reason to "like" a post.
  13. Rosario didn't slide !!! too Lazy ???
  14. Having relief pitchers therow more than one inning is a good way to limit the bullpen ti 7 arms. This would be different from the Gardy/Andy approach and it could be a good one. I always felt that the way Gardy/Andy used the bullpen was to disquise the weaknesses of his pitchers and limit the damage they could do.
  15. We have a rookie manager and a rookie pitching coach. I suspect that this will be a painfully obvious weakness by the All Star break.
  16. "Another note about 2014: I believe that part of the bad performance at the outfield was the on the manager." You always have to take a cheap shot at Gardy. You won. Gardy is gone. Move on already.
  17. I have always been pleased with the way Yahoo fantasy baseball can be adjusted to meet a groups requirements. The stats are updated quickly and it rarely has issues.
  18. after 5 batters, 4 hits and 2 runs, I predict the Twins will win the World Series
  19. Losing Gardy and Andy while having a rookie manager adds 5 losses. Bullpen success is based on starter success and, with the exception of Hughes, the starters sucked. This led to the bullpen collapse in the last 1/3 of the season. That collapse skewed the season numbers downward. As a result, your analysis of the bullpen is based on false numbers. Use the first 2/3 of the season and you will see a slightly above average bullpen. For 15, If Hughes stays an above average pitcher and the starters improve, by an average of 2 outs per outing, then the current bullpen will be fine. There is no need for trades and help is in the minors. Nothing can keep Molitor from making rookie mistakes and the Twins will be lucky to improve to 85 losses. But it won't be the fault of the bullpen.
  20. Having Pelfrey as a starter could be a plus for the Twins. If he throws like the pre-injury Pelfrey, then the Twins have a solid #3 starter. He is also said to be a positive in the Clubhouse. I remember that Nolasco was not a positive clubhouse guy. Perhaps they will trade Nolasco back to the National League and insert Pelfrey into Nolasco's spot in the rotation. However After the Liriano & Worely results, I think GMs will sit back and wait and Ryan will end up giving Pelfrey and/or Nolasco away.
  21. Don't you have anything better to comment on than their parents choice of Names ? You should be ashamed of yourselves.
  22. Not tryin to highjack the thread... but this is killing me, every time I log on "15 days and 19 hours remaining until Twins pitchers & catchers report to Ft. Myers" It moves so slow, it almost seems to be moving backwards
  23. With the Twins current starting pitchers (and no games played) I do not fear any matchups with Central division opponents (including KC). If the Twins equal their 2014 hitting, they have the ability to hit any pitcher. This means that the Twins are likely to have a winning record agains the AL Central. Of course, on May 1, I may wake up and see the reality...but I hope not
  24. The things I look for when searching for a better team: * Batters that hit in the clutch. * Starting pitchers that strand runners. * Infielders that can turn double plays. * A relief corps that holds the line after the 6th inning. * Wins at the end of the day.
  25. Perhaps firing Gardy has turned off many fans. :People like the reliable anticipation of their favorites. :}
