  1. I found this site >>> http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/afl/club.jsp?team_id=527 which led to this site >>> http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/scoreboard.jsp?sid=l119&t=l_sco&lid=119 does anyone have any better sites for the AFL ?
  2. Good for Goins Hurray for the mushroom method..."Keep us in the dark and feed us sh*t." The less we know the less likely we are to publish something that could be harmful to the Twins.
  3. Mauer is now married and has twin daughters. That is far more important than his batting average or power numbers. Nothing happens in a vacuum. Perhaps his priorities have changed somewhat. Good for Joe.
  4. I'd be more inclined to trade Hicks than Plouffe. Plouffe can be be a plus fielder. He is faster than Parmalee and has a strong arm. I don't think ErvIn Santana is good enough to be in the Twins 2015 rotation. I'd rather see us trade for a younger unproven lefty to match with Milone.
  5. I'd like to see Mike Marshall and his off-beat training methods get a major league try. http://drmikemarshall.com/
  6. Arcia seems to be head strong and coachable at the same time. He is a visible presence in the dugout. The first to cheer and the first to high-five. He did change his hitting approach in the last 2 months and the result was a better average, less strikeouts and more home runs. I look forward to seeing what he will do in 2015.
  7. Pitch framing is an art that should become extinct as soon as MLB lets technology call the balls and strikes. Batters should focus on pitchers, not pitch framing and umpires faulty strike zones.
  8. Rehire Andy
  9. My vote goes to Manny Acta. His Cleveland teams always seemed to play above their talent level.
  10. 2 Black days in a row. The end of the baseball season & the firing of Gardy.
  11. do the best you can, TK. Do the best you can.
  12. Twins prospects need to stop striking out. Lucas may not be a hitting coach, but perhaps this signals an organizational wide change in the way prospects are taught. There are new techniques in preparing pitchers that include exercises that add increased speed. Perhaps they are looking for coaches that will emphasize new techniques that improve throwing mechanics and reduce injuries.
  13. It makes me sad. I'm sure Gardy will have his pick of managing jobs in the near future. Thank you Gardy and good luck to you..
  14. This whole discussion just proves that no single stat should be used to quantify the effectiveness of any teams ability. And what do the stats predict? In '15 we won't be playing Willingham. We may get a full season of Pinto catching at least twice a week. Will Joe be healthy? What effect will Vargas at first have on the numbers. Who will play SS ? and who will play CF? How will these questions combine to effect the Twins fielding stats?
  15. The fact that Hicks is being played AGAIN shows us that they want him to play well so they can trade him in the off season.
  16. I understand pitch framing and I understand the importance of the skill, but I hate that is in this age, it is still necessary. Technology should be calling balls and strikes, not umpires.
  17. or maybe, being late like this is such a rare occurrence that it got everyone's attention.
  18. Don't forget that teams may be interested in Florimon & Beresford. Florimon had a pretty good 2nd half and Beresford has hit over .280 in AAA and is a good fielder. They might get one of the minor league pitching prospects. If it comes down to trading a major league player for a major league player, the team that gets the position player almost always wins the trade.
  19. When Doumit broke in with the Pirates he also played outfield. Pinto can't do that. The only thing he can do besides catch is DH or pinch hit. Would you take at bats away from Vargas and give them to Pinto ?
  20. I've been saying all year that Hicks is a flake and can't be counted on. I expect him to be packaged in a trade... Good riddance, I say.
  21. After 2017, when the Twins win the World Series, everyone will be thankful that Gardy is still our manager.
  22. Did you watch the last time Pinto caught ? He was awful. I wouldn't trust him to block any breaking balls down and in the dirt. Perhaps Steinbach is working hard with him or perhaps he has given up on him.
  23. Pino seems to be well suited to relief. Swarzak has been an excellent long man, why not keep him and pay him.Right now Burton is our most reliable relief pitcher. He is taking Perks place through the end of the season. Duensing, Thielbar, Milone, Thompson & Darnell, we can only use 2 lefty's so 3 need to be dealt. Is Fien the Twins setup man for 2015 ?How soon will Burdi be ready to come up ?.We can hope that Terry Ryan will make some trades this winter and that relief pitchers will be part of the trades.
  24. I go with the french pronunciation Shar-gwa
