  1. Yes... that Colby Rasmus, the one that some Twins fans were clamoring for, before we signed Hunter. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/01/astros-talking-with-colby-rasmus.html
  2. We seem to be having a bad case of, "If it didn't happen in Minnesota, it never happened..." with regards to Milone's effectiveness. Pitchers who used to be known as "crafty lefty's" are now known as "soft-tossing" pitchers. A left handed starter does several things: - They throw off the hitters after seeing mostly right handed pitching. - They set up the right handed relievers to be more effective, as the hitters have to adjust again. - They set up the next starter, because the hitters must adjust again. For all these reasons, the Twins will probably use Milone as their 5th starter. After all... Milone is "left-handed and breahing."
  3. I love the Twins, however, there is not a player on the team that does not carry doubt when he is on the field. Plouffe is no different. There are 2 ways to look at the Twins 2015 season. 1) Because of the upgrade in pitching and their Run scoring ability, they will be a .500+ team and in contention into September. 2) Because of the failure of some parts of the team, whether it is pitching, hitting, fielding or management, they will be at the bottom of the division for most of the season. We have a right to be skeptical. If Plouffe does not maintain his 2014 level of play, the Twins will certainly be a sub-.500 team.
  4. The comments that you have to wait 10 years to judge a draft made me curious. I went to baseball-reference.com to check out the numbers. http://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/?query_type=franch_year&team_ID=MIN&year_ID=2006&draft_type=junreg& It is very interesting to scroll up and down through the drafts and see the players that got a look by the Twins.
  5. I would like to see our Ace reliever come in whenever there are men on base and less than 2 outs* Stop the bleeding should be #1 priority. Setup and closing are important, but I want our best reliever to stop the rallys. *This can be any inning where the manager decides to pull a pitcher because of inefectiveness.
  6. Throwing gas is not the key to a closer. The ability to focus and perform when under pressure is the key. Look at all the relievers with good stuff when they start an inning, that blow up with men on base. I think we should relax until we have 3 or more superior relievers, before we worry about bullpen by committee
  7. I hope we only bring up rookies to open the season and in September. If it happens that way we will be having a terrific season. Starters are having Quality Starts. Relievers will be getting holds and saves. The fielders will be fielding and the hitters will be hitting. Most importantly, Molitor & Allen aren't screwing things up.
  8. 1 rotation spot and Meyer, May, Milone, Pelfrey & now Stauffer have an opportunity to fill it. If 2 or more of them a have good spring training, I wonder which ones get the priority ?
  9. Of coursem the Twins could be in contention in 2015. A happy Phil Hughes could be the key to the club. Of course, all the pitchers arms could fall off too. Thats why we watch the games
  10. If Pressley could give us meaningful outtings, then Graham should be able to contribute as well.
  11. Cleveland would be better off getting Cliff Floyd from MLB.tv
  12. If the hitters hit when the pitchers pitch, numbers don't mean anything. The record will have more wins than losses when the pitchers have only average stats If the hitters hit when the pitchers don't pitch, we are looking at another 90 loss season. Its up to Molitor to get the Twins to play together.
  13. I can't understand why so many think Meyer is the answer. Can't you see that Meyer is not ready for the Majors ? He was on a pitch limit. He was inconsistant. He was hurting at the end of the year despite the pitch limit. . I wish it weren't so but there is still something wrong with Meyer
  14. May had a chance to adjust to major league hitters, Meyer was not healthy. What more could they have done in 2014. Maybe May will beat out Milone for the 5th starter spot. Maybe Meyer will start in the bullpen. 2015 will be interesting.
  15. We will watch with interest and keep our fingers crossed. I am hoping that Meyer and May pitch in relief until a spot opens up. I am hoping that Gibson is not the first to fail. It is going to be a very interesting season from the first game onward. Will Hughes repeat his dominant season? Will Nolasco be the pitcher we signed? Will Gibson improve? Will Santana be the pitcher we signed? Will be Milone be the crafty lefty we traded for? What about Meyer & May? Will Pelfrey be able to help us in any way? and thats just the starters,
  16. I am hoping the lefty Milone is the 5th starter, which means that May, Meyer & Pelfrey are in the bullpen. If Pelfrey is the long reliever, this means that May & Meyer will have plenty of chances to strike out batters at important times in games. This could work out very well for the Twins.
  17. I think that the odds are that both the Santana signing and the Hunter signing are not going to look good at the end of 2015. However, if I am wrong (and I hope I am) then we should be in contention for the whole year and Target Field should be brimming with fans.
  18. I have always been a staunch Terry Ryan supporter. Now, after the signing of Hunter and Santana, I am wondering if he is losing it. Perhaps the attendance falloff is pressuring him into desperate and ill advised moves. We will see.
  19. Molitor and Sabermetrics are an interesting question but I'll be more interested in seeing if they will play throough the 9th inning for Molitor? I want to see if they come out fighting after a bad loss? I want to see if they start bickering to the media when times are tough? I want to see if they run the bases more aggressively, and field the ball with more situational awareness? Will the outfileders hit the cuttoff man and prevent the extra base.? Will the pitchers blow up when a fielder makes an errror? How will Molitor handle the bullpen ? These are the things I am waiting to see in 2015
  20. Twins fans have a love, hate relationship with Liriano. We love the good Franky We hate the bad Franky
  21. I look to Brett Lee to be this years breakout pitcher. He is not a speedster, but he fills the crafty lefty role. No team can have enough of these types of pitchers. If he has a normal season with an ERA under 3.00 he could even see a promotion to AAA if needed.
  22. stringer is right. Forget Hicks. The fox in this henhouse is how will Molitor manage these assets. In Minnesota, due to the cold weather, no results really count. Bad pitchers (Hughes, Gibson) aren't really that bad. Good hitters really aren't that good (Kubel and Collabello). Our experience told us what Gardy would probably do. Who will Molly continue to run out there and who ends up in his doghouse? Those are the questions and we will be second guessing him all the way.
  23. It will be fun to see him back in the lineup. He certainly killed the Twins last year. Welcome home Torii
  24. Woulen't you hate to see Milone non-tendered and then doing well with another team ? Give the guy another chance. We need a Lefty starter.
