There is something that you do not seem to understand here. Ho, they are not now scrap heap players, but they were at one point in their career. What is so hard about understanding that? Still waiting on the proof that mid tier free agents are the panacea to all baseball problems

    Kepler was not traded in his walk year probably due to one of two factors. 1. No contender or pretender needed a little below RF. 2. What was offered were lottery tickets that were not worth even a ok see to see if they were developable. Bennentendi had a better pedigree than Kepler and was traded a couple of years ago at the trade deadline. KC got filler in return. Some trades are just not worth making

    7th or 8th best SS is replaceable. Unlike the 37th or 38th best SS, it is difficult to improve from 7th or 8th best SS

    What you posted has absolutely nothing to do with Castro being a free agent after this year. At the major league level the last 2 years Wallner has not has a fielding error so it isn’t the glove that is leaden.

    Last year it took 3 injured pitchers and a prospect failing to get Zebby playing for the twins. I would hope that would not happen this year. As it appears to stand now after 2 current straying pitchers are either injured or ineffective, foe another straight through the system in a year would mean that Nowlin, Raya, Adams, Lewis , and Ohl all failed at developing further. Going from riding a bus in the upper Midwest to MLB is a great story. I just would rather hope it doesn’t happen again

    You would pick up potential but the likely outcome of what you recieve would be a building block only happens when the other team makes a mistake. The best outcome is usually a decent relief pitcher

    It is Zoll’s job to trade. Falvey may have to approve but there wouldn’t be a need to have a gm if it was Falvey’s job to do the trades.

    The question should be is he a head case? Upside at 28 is hardly an endorsement for a free agent. 2 very good years out of 6 is not a sign that he will really help the franchise other than to take a spot on the roster. Is the paper on the very used spitball ever going to disintegrate?

    The difference between a player called a number 1 and 4 starter is that the number 4 will not be the first pitcher starting in the playoffs. If both go injury free they will start about the same number of games.. One should not be dismissive of the number 4 starter

    If they are trading Castro it would be to add to the team for future years as Castro will be a free agent. Sorry that you bought into the blogger’s bias

    Castro would be a rental player. The value of his accomplishments is going to be lower. It only makes sense for the Cubs to trade for him if they figure they are close to contending and whatever they give up is going to be of about equal value to what they will get out of Castro. So what the Twins would be hoping for is a mistake.

    Try putting Rosario’s numbers next to Shane Mack’s numbers in their last years as Twins and she which is which.

    Maybe Borrego will be better at judging whether or not to take the extra base than what was done in the past. Maybe they need to work in spring training more on base running. Maybe the minor leagues ought to be focused on learning nuances of the game.
