  1. In 2018 Buxton was injured early as was Ervin Santana. Those two losses coupled with the replacement level replacements doomed Molitor. Why didn’t they add better players at the deadline? They wanted their type for manager. Most of the players have gone through the up and down. I doubt there should be much carryover. Christian Vasquez is still looking for his lost bat.
  2. So when the cable market lost 20% of their subscribers in the 5 years before Correa was signed, the Twins should not have been the least bit concerned about a revenue stream with the contract soon to be done? After all with less viewers they are going to get more money from the local broadcasts to pay players.
  3. The longer the thread, the more inane comments come out
  4. They have a CFO who should be looking at the future. He has a GM who should know the pluses and minuses. They were as good as Rasputin in seeing the future. Gawd, this has to be the stupidest comment I have seen in a long time.
  5. Twins trade candidate breakdown, Chris Paddack. Shouldn’t that be breaks down? Levine traded for or signed a lot of players that broke down. He is gone. The only way Paddack is gone is by either the Twins can identify another team that doesn’t consider injury history or it is the trade deadline and Paddack has pitched reasonably well.
  6. Now the suggestion was a SP for the outfielder and a prospect. If you really like Quero as a catcher the proposed deal is close to making sense for the Twins if the pitcher traded is Ryan Ober should cost at least 2 prospects if not three.
  7. Jim Pohlad fired Bill Smith over wanting to spend the way out of the train wreck of the Twins at the time. I would guess that all of the possible positive outcomes of the 2022 season were used to sell the signing. Joe Pohlad did not ask what could possibly go wrong.
  8. There is a chief financial officer and probably people under him that did not understand that cable TV could be on life support with dwindling numbers. They probably thought a contending team would make for a larger television contract. The other half of future revenue, i.e. fans, would also come back in droves with a winning team. They never considered what could go wrong. It should also be obvious who the architect of the current roster situation was. The guy who currently does not have a job.
  9. If healthy is a mighty big if.as their last few years would suggest the odds are against the being healthy part. The unexpected injuries are one thing, but a track record of it should not be part of the plan of a contendending team. It did seem like the cycled through 20 guys last year. So far the only one they kept is Tonkin
  10. Maybe he needs to be protected, maybe he doesn’t. From cup of coffee in AA or less experience to MLB position player has been done successfully. Juan Soto went up quickly. So did Baddoo. You can look up the differences in career trajectories. Olivar is unlikely to be the next coming of Soto. I doubt he needs protecting.
  11. There some people who seem to forget what someone posted by the time they find the quote button that is hidden by the ads. There are more people who seem not to look up information
  12. Consternation because a New York sports writer wrote an opinion column on a slow news day on why he thought a New York team should trade for Correa. Holy clickbait Batman.. Not one shred of evidence either team thought about trading for him.. That column was no closer to reality than the what relievers the Twins should sign articles
  13. If every team has a representative the Twins’ players did not do so well. If there was a recap article, I already forgot about it
  14. There are places that talk of the importance of pitch sequencing . That factor seem to be important to pitching yet are not accounted for in pitching metrics. That could also be an explanation of why ERA and FIP can be so different. Command also comes into play. Outcomes vary as the ball count goes up The lack of command could also play a part as the Twins stressed not walking batters could lead to more hittable pitches. If the article contained that information, my bad.
  15. Brock Stewart has pitched in 34 games at the mlb level the last 2 years. That is 34 more games than he pitched in the 3 years prior to that, what makes people think it is going to be different? Topa had one overworked year after years of injuries and ends up injured. Funny how that woks. Yet with all the access to analytics this front office doesn’t seem to track it. The last several years seems like the Twins have been near the top in days on the d.l. When the frugal franchises do not consider days lost on the dl that should be a flag. It is not a checkered one. Tonkin would be the durable low leverage guy, he can eat a couple innings and not miss a week recovering. He had a minimal contract last year. 1 million per b ref. He was never out of work,, bur was well traveled. I do not know why anyone would think he should get that high of raise. Not that I begrudge him the money. One should respect the work and persistence of Tonkin to make it back to mlb baseball and thrive.
  16. I’m heartbroken. I did not say it was clickbait. I said nothing negative about the article. You called it nonsense without being able to read it. Uninformed opinion on your part
  17. To answer your question on why they signed him look no further than his statistics with Boston . Did it work out? No. Easy to throw rocks in hindsight
  18. When you are not a caretaker you could not have read the article. Your comment on nonsense and then credibility on an article you really do not what was in it is pure compost of the bovine variety.
  19. Perhaps the owners of the site need to make a rule that the bloggers can’t write about teams that existed before they were born. WAR as a criteria for MVP. You can have the opinion that is the most important thing, perhaps it will be someday if there is ever any agreement on defensive metrics. MVP is a baseball writers award,. The blogger seems oblivious to the rules that have been in place since the beginning. From the writers association website The ballot states Dear Voter: There is no clear-cut definition of what Most Valuable means. It is up to the individual voter to decide who was the Most Valuable Player in each league to his team. The MVP need not come from a division winner or other playoff qualifier. The rules of the voting remain the same as they were written on the first ballot in 1931: 1. Actual value of a player to his team, that is, strength of offense and defense. 2. Number of games played. 3. General character, disposition, loyalty and effort. 4. Former winners are eligible. 5. Members of the committee may vote for more than one member of a team. You are also urged to give serious consideration to all your selections, from 1 to 10. A 10th-place vote can influence the outcome of an election. You must fill in all 10 places on your ballot. Only regular-season performances are to be taken into consideration. Keep in mind that all players are eligible for MVP, including pitchers and designated hitters. That third criteria is the subjective portion. Stomp your foot and complain, thems the ru
  20. The Twins are going to continue their pattern of amassing 5-6 fringe arms that can throw 95 or have high spin rates. What they get may depend on what the other teams facing the demise of Diamond do.
  21. Here, is one of the many spots that say the 2020 signees will be eligible Tuesday, November 19: Teams must add eligible minor leaguers to their 40-man rosters by 5 p.m. CT or risk losing them in the Rule 5 Draft. College players drafted no later than 2021 and high school players drafted no later than 2020 are Rule 5 Draft eligible this year, as well as players signed internationally no later than 2020. You still have done nothing to disprove that the front office is any good at signing international free agents. Rodriguez and Servino (since designated) are the only 2 that have even been protected that were signed by this regime that I know of. That should not be an acceptable level
  22. The couple that I looked at on the list were awe inspiring. It takes a lot of hubris to think they would be helpfull for the team. Helman and Kiersten are still both on the 40 man. There are your cheap speed and energy. They could do worse than the listed players, but they have not yet had the chance to prove it. Had the FO thought they were not better than their September call up they would have been designated.
  23. The three in one year was about 15 years ago under a different management team.
