  1. When Margot joined the team he was about a career .200 as a pinch hitter. His hitting other than the pinch hit attempts was at about career average. The Twins asked him to do what he does not do well. When they traded for him they should have known it would be a failure. Doncon had better pan out.
  2. You can always find 2-3 arms for a bullpen. It seems like they used about 37 different ones there last year
  3. Depends on what statistic one uses. One of the best by WAR or FIP.. Not so muck by ERA, a bad bullpen by LOB %
  4. The Wood and Stripling contracts last year totaled 22.5 million. The Severino contract is being reported as 2 years plus an option. Exact numbers are not known. At 67 million divided evenly over 3 years is 22.3 million. They are not paying him 67 for one year.
  5. The players picked rarely fall in order of best to worst. Every team has their own philosophy of pitching. The odds of the Twins finding a pitcher that first their profile is probably there. The chance that they are major league ready is what is low. The lists that I have seen are mostly AA and lower players. Just like with Ryan, they will take development time at the major league level. Teams make bad guesses all of the time.
  6. Paddack could be an inexpensive starter. The contract for the Twins, based on what they pay relievers, makes him a starter. He hasn’t has nearly a full season since 2020. There will be teams that would take the flier. That would leave the Twins with SWR and Festa as the 4/5 starters and hoping the kids come through when there are injuries. Not the worst scenario, not the best either. If the Twins’ talent evaluators are skeptical of the minor league players abilities they could package one of them with Paddack to get a prospect they like better. That would entail finding a prospect that another team is skeptical about. The Twins found one in Ryan, so it does happen. Due to salaries I doubt they could make a Pablo Lopez kind of trade. The Vasquez conundrum is that they do not have a catcher in the system they like. To find someone who would take a defensive catcher as a backup might not be that hard. Finding a replacement that is less expensive would be. That is why Vasquez is tradable
  7. With a roster full of pre arbitration players they have to spend money to get revenue sharing. Last year they signed Wood and Stripling. This year they had to spend a little more.
  8. It is a better use of money than Alex Wood and Ross Stripling
  9. All you have to do is go to baseball reference and look up Twins drafts or go to the twins roster page and click on the player and that information is there
  10. The chance that Canha has a Carlos Santana kind of season is almost nil. So there is no way he can be the next Santana. He has a chance to be the next Margot, but I would hope not. At best he would be a league average player. Some days he would be an asset, more days non contributory. It is a move that is not going to put the team on top.
  11. There are several possible reasons why he is not given a shot. Reason one they don’t promote him, Left hand hitting OF. He would be behind Larnach and Wallner in the pecking order. Reason two. There is a hole in his swing. I don’t see analysis of his swing anywhere.. A guess would be the breaking pitch. I don’t think it is unreasonable to think f a minor league pitcher can consistently throw decent breaking pitches with even an average fastball ball they are in the majors. ZMinor league pitchers probably throw a quite a few more mistake pitches. Reason three. Always possible that they are keeping him as a disaster plan but there is politic in the workplace. The wrong people do not like him. You hate to blame personalities but that stuff exists
  12. Rosario played in 8 different playoff series. 5 of them he stunk. One should not pretend he was extraordinary. Regular season he had an OPS of .748. That is a couple points different than Keplers without the defense. More people here than not wanted to get rid of Kepler for a while. People can remember the great, but forget the bad when it suits them
  13. Being a starter is different pitching than a relief pitcher. He is not going to average 97 on his FB. There will be drops in velocity on his other pitches as well. No one has mentioned an out pitch for him. Paddack has been injured. For some reason the FO thinks that oft injured pitchers can return to baseline quickly. If Paddack is healthy for a year it might look entirely different than last year. He was solid his first 2 years before the injury bug hit. Somebody said something about risk/reward
  14. Yup. He had a good post season record. Most of those came in one series, It happens that a player can have a 4 game hot streak, just like they can have a cold one. That is baseball.
  15. The Yankees changed how Hamilton pitches. The added a sinker so it is a 50/50 guess on a fo/fo guess FS or Slider
  16. A player in the regular season that has not had an OPS+ over 90 since he left the Twins is a loss? He did have a great 6 game stretch against the Dodger
  17. If Jax continues to pitch as he did last year you think he would not be elite? . If you think he can’t maintain that level of pitching, why would you make him a starter. You might as well advocate for Cole Sands to be a starter
  18. His shirts from his black Sox ads finally hit the clearance racks.
  19. A back of the rotation starter is going to make less than a back of the bullpen reliever. Analysis of what made Lugo, Lopez and King effective last year would be in order since the usual path is failed starter to good reliever. With the answer to the question would shed the light on could Jax transition back Lu
  20. The Twins traded for Coomer, let him go when the team no longer had control.
  21. There is where you said it. So when you tell others to read what you wrote you better go back and edit your posts
  22. If it woke to not want people making fun of someone being injured I guess I am agreement with the woke people.
