  1. The other pitchers pitched with the arm that was injured
  2. Baseball trade values has no application in the real world. Any analysis of the trade says that Arizona got the better end of the deal. Saying that a hitter with a season and a half at A+ level with an OPS of .695 is equal to a AAA player with an OPS of .835 is laughable
  3. As a DFA to claim him would take a roster spot. To take him would be confidence in fixing the swing that the Dodger could not in 2 years. Low risk, high reward. Little possibility
  4. You provide the reason why the team could not have traded for Puk by giving them Gonzales with your last line. What you haven’t shown is that the Twins had a better third tier player than Miami received for Puk . Gonzalez simply has ot hit at the A+ level. At best he is the lottery ticket the team throws in.
  5. A high leverage LH relief pitcher would require a couple of third tier prospects that somebody else considered first tier. it would also need those players to be on a losing team and be a rental. That scenario did not exist
  6. The farm system in 2024 is producing what new players for the MLB team in 2025? Can they play defense better, do they hit better, pitch better than they did in 2023? Can’t really say if the farm system is better or worse. That is the problem with trying yo assess, What the player is might not become apparent until arbitration hits
  7. Talented players but not awesomely talented. While many major league may not have been ranked very high as young players very few players low ranked players become solid major league contributors
  8. March has been pretty much when this FO made trades. There is no reason why this year should be any different
  9. I all fairness there has always been pessimism even when they are wining 90+ games.
  10. By things like contact, sweet spots and other metrics it would appear thay Marti has a decent eye. What he doesn’t have is bat speed. That should be able to be fixed
  11. Mike Illich died in 2017 and the Tigers have not spent since KC has never been associated with the big spenders, nor have the Indians The White Sox are such a mess that I don’t think there is enough money to make them that competitive. There won’t be much for trades except for minor moves until free agency winds down a bit more
  12. Minuet. So nice that you are pointing toe at people rather than fingers
  13. The Ford signing means they do ot like the potential of any of the 1b/dh that could hit well in AAA. Why Severinio and Williams would want to stay in the organization is a bit baffling. They aren’t even giving them a chance
  14. If Baledi were to be replaced it would have been at the end of last season. The fifth starter fiasco started it.. Then the 4th outfielder Margo. There was not a single analytic that would ever point to Margo being a pinch hitter. The left handed side of the bullpen collapses. When the trade deadline came and went without any correction I felt like Baldelli put up a finger to the FO and pitched the rookie pitchers up to their pitch limit., irregardless of the score. Margot got to pinch hit more. Falvey fired the architect, not the shop foreman
  15. The price paid for the collapse of 2024 was paid by Levine who was the architect of a flawed roster. Baldelli, or any other manager, is only as good as the talent they have to work see. See Tom Kelly
  16. For Keaschall to use up his rookie status would mean that 4 out of 6 things have happened. Julian o, Miranda, r Lee have failed, Castro is traded, Correa or Lewis are hurt. Not necessarily a rosy outlook Morris right now lines up as the eight pitcher behind Lopez,Ober,Ryan, SWR, Festa, and Matthews. Converting Jax back to a starter drops him further. Again, not a rosy outlook
  17. As we were typing at the same time, should there be a contest to see how many people can state the obvious about the bullpen
  18. Given their injury history it would seem foolish to count on Topa or Stewart for anything more than that it is a bonus that they are healthy. I thought the discussion in the recent past was Jax to starter. So if the team trades Duran for a catcher to start it could leave a hole in the bullpen. The Dodgers would have to also take a player of excess contract for the Twins for Margot being worse than. Expected.
  19. Gasper was on the Boston 40 man roster. They need a spot for the pitcher they signed.. Had they not traded him they could have DFAd him and lost I’m on a claim by the Twins. I am not sure why the Twins needed to give up something. The year before every team passed on Gasper in the rule 5 major league portion. Boston took him in the minor league portion.. it is not like there would be a demand
  20. There would be a premise that someone would want Vazquez at 10 million and not McCann at somewhat less money. When Jansen and Sanchez can get 8.5 million McCann can probably be close to that. It makes no sense to shuffle catchers
  21. Yup, always have excuse for not going
  22. There will always be excuses for why fans are not going to games.
