  1. No he did not walk 3 in an inning it went BB, BB, DP, BB, BB, K
  2. It is somewhat sad to think that a player who could play adequate defense is considered a throwback player
  3. If the Twins FP thinks is potential is a top half of the rotation pitcher they are going to do what they have to do short of giving up a high ceiling prospect.
  4. What seems to e lost in the discussion is what the Phillies want in trade. With Castellano he was their minor league pitcher of the year. They do have like 3-4 near major league pitching prospects that had to be protected or risk losing. These prospects have neither proved they belong at the major league level, nor have they disproved it. Castellano does not appear to be near major league ready. The Phillies gambled and momentarily lost. They had an open spot o the 40 man. They used it to draft a player that the traded to Tampa for cash. I suspect they do not foresee anyone stashing Castellano. The reasons have been fairly well covered They have the leverage in a trade negotiation.. They do not have to take garbage back in trade. They would want an equivalent player back. A high ceiling pitching prospect that does not have to be on the 40 man roster. Those are not readily available, which would be why the Twins picked Castellano in the first place. That could reasonably be why a trade has not happened. Nor will happen.
  5. The rule then would be as it has always been. The Twins could trade Castellano to another team if they so chose. The same rule 5 restrictions would continue to apply to him in that he would have to be a 40 man roster. If a team wishes to send a player to the minors, they have to offer him back to the Phillies. The Phillies can accept him back or work out a trade. .
  6. Tonkin was not released while injured. He pitched that September and was released after the season. Kirriloff was optioned but said Nope, I am injured so they couldn’t option him and had to be pt on the IL. Everyone here pretty much should understand that a team is responsible for a contract with a DFA because of Dobnak. With the cost of medical and rehabilitation it would be amazing if injuries and care of those injuries was not a part of the CBA the team has many many examples of sticking with pitchers who are injury prone. I doubt they would dump Canterino.
  7. They can DFA him. They would still e liable for medical and this year’s salary. They can’t option him injured. That is why so many players get optioned early out of spring training. They would have to put him on the 60 day to open up a slot on the 40 man.
  8. Brock Stewart should be “overlooked” 5 years of injuries would suggest that anything the team gets out of him is a bonus.
  9. The Phillies reportedly had a high asking price before the rule V draft, more than what the Twins wanted to give up. The Phillies have an aging starting rotation., and a dearth of starting pitching in the minors. Nothing has changed in the Phillies organization talent wise.. the only way the price comes down is if the Phillies are scouting their former prospect and think he will not develop further based on spring training. I don’t think that would occur
  10. Jay Jackson, Staurmont and Blewit combined had over 60 innings of pitching last year that were in aggregate rated as low leverage. Sands started the year as a low leverage pitcher. Blowouts happen. With the offensive juggernaut that a healthy Twins team can be with the aged veterans once again finding past glories and the young players hitting their ceilings, there should be plenty of blowouts this year. If you don’t believe that those hitting conditions exist, well there will still be plenty of blowouts
  11. There is now a rule in college baseball one child call the Rice Rule. Pitchers are limited to 110 pitches. Rest days sew mandated by the number of pitches thrown.
  12. Zips projection are inaccurate for individual players. Do the prospects have a higher ceiling than Paddack? Paddack’s best was a FIP of 3.75. I don’t know if for this year you could say with any authority yes or no.
  13. A new owner would be able to spend that money because the depreciate the purchase price of the team over 15 years. That depreciation goes off the high income taxes they would pay from their day job . The owners are not in it to lose money
  14. The outcome was Ishbia bought more of a stake in the White Sox. Interest in another team could have been a punch to make other investors sell their shares now rather than later
  15. Keaschall and Bader are both listed at 6’ tall Wallner is 6’4” Posture makes a difference Keaschall and Wallner are standing at attention, Bader and others are not
  16. Only 23 starting pitchers made 32 or more starts last year. You seem to think that pitching more will solve that In the last 4 years in the major and minor leagues almost 1200 UCL surgeries were done, pitching. 20% never make it back to what they were/ Yet pitching more will solve this. NIH data shows that 15% of the pitchers develop shoulder issues every year. Pitching more will solve that. Whatever. Last year between 450 and 500 pitchers spent time on the dl with over 30000 man days lost. Keep looking for the unicorn that is only warming up at 100 pitches
  17. Funderburk is like every other player with option. Break does not happen until you run out of options
  18. Paddack has o be healthy. That has not happened recently. So the team will take what it can get 2 years ago he was their best option for mid rotation starter so he got extended. This is a time where the plan not working was a good thing. Maybe the Rookies from last year and the aaa pitchers will offer enough that Paddack becomes tradeable because the injury bug hit another team. Time will tell
  19. It shouldn’t be a shock that a part owner of another team in a larger market that has rumors of sales dropped out
  20. They spend the money they make off the Suns and still have a profit at the end of the year. They make more money off the Suns than Pohlads make off the Twins.
  21. Have pitchers get injured and face criticism. Take things cautiously, get criticism.
  22. When the Ishibas took over the Suns they were on the cusp of being a championship team. Now they are struggling to make the playoffs with a team of accumulating broken down players with bad contracts. I is not necessarily a bad thing they are looking to increase their stake in he White Sox
