    The chance that Canha has a Carlos Santana kind of season is almost nil. So there is no way he can be the next Santana. He has a chance to be the next Margot, but I would hope not. At best he would be a league average player. Some days he would be an asset, more days non contributory. It is a move that is not going to put the team on top.

    There are several possible reasons why he is not given a shot. Reason one they don’t promote him, Left hand hitting OF. He would be behind Larnach and Wallner in the pecking order. Reason two. There is a hole in his swing. I don’t see analysis of his swing anywhere.. A guess would be the breaking pitch. I don’t think it is unreasonable to think f a minor league pitcher can consistently throw decent breaking pitches with even an average fastball ball they are in the majors. ZMinor league pitchers probably throw a quite a few more mistake pitches. Reason three. Always possible that they are keeping him as a disaster plan but there is politic in the workplace. The wrong people do not like him. You hate to blame personalities but that stuff exists

    Rosario played in 8 different playoff series. 5 of them he stunk. One should not pretend he was extraordinary. Regular season he had an OPS of .748. That is a couple points different than Keplers without the defense. More people here than not wanted to get rid of Kepler for a while. People can remember the great, but forget the bad when it suits them

    Being a starter is different pitching than a relief pitcher. He is not going to average 97 on his FB. There will be drops in velocity on his other pitches as well. No one has mentioned an out pitch for him. Paddack has been injured. For some reason the FO thinks that oft injured pitchers can return to baseline quickly. If Paddack is healthy for a year it might look entirely different than last year. He was solid his first 2 years before the injury bug hit. Somebody said something about risk/reward

    Yup. He had a good post season record. Most of those came in one series, It happens that a player can have a 4 game hot streak, just like they can have a cold one. That is baseball.

    If Jax continues to pitch as he did last year you think he would not be elite? . If you think he can’t maintain that level of pitching, why would you make him a starter. You might as well advocate for Cole Sands to be a starter

Analysis of what made Lugo, Lopez and King effective last year would be in order since the usual path is failed starter to good reliever.     I wouldn’t say Gil at 19 was a non prospect. Unknown as a Dominican player who already missed a year.. As I recall he was a flamethrower even then Did you conveniently forget the LaMonte Wade for Shaun Alexander 6.2 out for -0.5 back. Wade had not yet reached 130 AB Still should have had rookie status

    They need players with options to rotate through for when the injuries pile up. The minor league signing players pretty much are there by their history of achievement. The St Paul coaches are going to dix that problem.

    If the Twins valued defense they would be more fundamental sound on defense by the time the players got to the major leagues. They wouldn’t have drafted bat first players

    Trivino, Dakota Hudson, Cimber and Gott all signed last year for 1.5 million. You are very correct they could do worse at that price point. These guys are your proof. Jorge Lopez at 2 million was a train wreck. Floro imploded when traded to a team fighting for the playoffs at 2.25 million. I am sure if I kept looking there would be a winner somewhere in the bargain bin. I am not too worried. Somebody will come up with a name other than Tonkin

    The hypothetical values of Tonkin and Topa are hypothetical. For a signed contact and journeyman status I would think Tonkin would sign for a slight raise. It is more money than a minor league contract The front office traded for Topa. He is not going anywhere. Regardless, all of them signed and later DFAd because they din’t have options would likely be picked up. It wouldn’t cost them money
