  1. Many players do play every day. There is still nothing out there that says it has to be done that way. When your team has very little in the way of backups, your team has to have these players play everyday. When your team has players with holes in the game, you have to cover a bit.
  2. The Orioles and Yankees fizzle out in the playoffs. The Dodgers have only won a WD is a short series and currently have 12 pitchers on the DL. Atlanta won their WS with 2 players who did not play every game that year as ther series MVPs. With potentially 22 more games in the playoffs maybe there is something to the load management
  3. Runs scored would indicate that rally’s are being killed at the same rate. Try again. There is nothing so far that shows outcomes have been any different with less strikeouts.
  4. A couple percentage points less this year. Hits+BB+HPB-HR/Games says the Twins have less base runners per game by 0.01 per game
  5. On base percentage has not improved from last year so there are not more runners on base this year
  6. Popkin’s quoted philosophy somewhere on these pages was to have a philosophy for each player. There is a correlation with bat speed and launch angles to outcomes. Tweaking a swing to get the better outcome is on the coaches. As you point out, hitting has improved as the season has progressed for many of the players so maybe it is the coaching. Baseball is a game of adjustments
  7. The fans interest as measured by people paying to see the game is more tied to winning than K% The desired outcome is winning baseball. Managers and front offices are fired for a lack of winning. Just ask Paul Molitor
  8. Strikeouts are down. This year Also down this year are BB%, OBP, BABIP, and OPS. Rus scored per game 4.785 per game this year,4.8 last year . It would be hard to say there is an improvement in outcomes with less strikeouts.
  9. There are three ways to look at thumbs down One is to think of a thumbs down with no comment as a person who’s belief system just got destroyed but they have no logical reason for believing what they do. The second way to think about it is what you wrote is so bad and off base history has shown it is pointless to discuss something further, this reason, your satire or sarcasm went over the person’s head. So for you, given your posts over the years, and my supposition what a thumbs down would mean a thumbs down then is a compliment
  10. Liver and onions are a disgusting meal kids nowadays don’t want to work, they just want to play video games
  11. If as a society we shift or priorities to what was important there would have to be some agreement on what was important. If it is a shift towards a concern for others, good luck with that
  12. It should be easy to figure out with the minor league players what they do not do well at that time. Seth doesn’t mention it. The players are there to learn and get better. Just because they are not doing something well at some point doesn’t mean they can’t improve. It is pretty easy to figure out who is not improving. They do not get promoted in season or somebody mentions that a player was released.
  13. It is rather unfortunate that people do not understand being constructive
  14. I am so glad through these trade discussions that here are so many people on the inside that absolutely know what the Twins were thinking. Perhaps one of you could come back with the analysis of how he fits the wins model of pitching acquisitions
  15. Aging curves and fall off in talent with players is a mystifying and individual thing. Nelson Cruz defied age until he over to Tampa in his 40s. That is the lucky end. Chuck Knobllauch dropped off at age 30. Each player is different. Power lasts longer than speed. Middle infielders seem to go soon shortly after 30. Maybe Father Time got another victim . When the Twins signed Correa I looked at a moderate size of players to notice that. Derek Jeter was the high end at 35 before he started falling off. One does have to remember 2 things for this. One is that the higher the skill level there is still a useful player, as Jeter was still above aver for a couple of years. The other? Don’t look at the outliers .
  16. SUMMARY 2024 AB 75 H 13 HR 3 BA .173 OBP.319 SLG .293 OPS .612 OPS+ 86 Polanco’s numbers this year would fir right in with the rest of the Twins
  17. Pat Meares was a decent fielding, no hit shortstop with the Twins never coming up with another shortstop to take his place . They got their replacement when they traded Knoblauch
  18. The horse that is the payroll discussion has been beaten so much that the bones are dust in the wind
  19. Another couple weeks there will be countless articles on the top pick in the draft for 2025 The geniuses who put together 3 division championships in 7 years will be considered buffoons. The words total system failure will be exposed by too many people.
  20. The Mendoza line used to be Mendoza’s career average of .215. There really shouldn’t be a complaint about the Twins hitting the Mendoza line when there is an article touting more Twins should be hitting like Austin Martin, a player who hasn’t hit enough in the major leagues to know if he is competent. Almost put down the money to find out if that was the satire article.
  21. Santana was about a 1 war player the last 2 years. His contract reflected that. It is Gallo 2.0 turning into Nelson Cruz in Tampa Bay Risk/Reward. Risk is ahead at this point the market for starting pitchers you might can cherry pick a starter that was an equivalent to a Polanco contract. There might have been a trade to be had,, there might not have been. Other teams have to like your players more than you do. They reportedly liked Mahle better than Castillo. They really gave up more than the Reds got for Castillo. Castillo hasn’t been too good this year so the birds would be out on that trade had it happened. Yet another reason for caution with trading for older pitchers
  22. Sprint speed is useless if a player doesn’t get on base and the bottom half of the lineup is in a combined Ofer
  23. I was thinking Joey Gallo as it seemed to be a lotto type thing if he hit
