  1. Please no. Chronological works. Really enjoy this site. Thanks to everyone from owners to occasional posters. I appreciate all but the very whiniest of you!
  2. I appreciate the outside the box thinking. People writing against this idea have thoughtful points and may very well be right. Someone is going to bring some new approach to their pitching staff. It will certainly be met with some derision, but changes will be made and many will believe it to be an improvement. Another part of life where change is the only constant.
  3. Blessed? 'Unusual' and 'fun' can be very, very different.
  4. I appreciate the research you put into this. Thank you. It should come as no surprise that the outlook is grim. To me signing Santana was a terrible idea. The odds that he was going to have even an above average year at the plate seemed far fetched. I think it's a real tribute to him that everyone says he is a wonderful person to have in the clubhouse. Always fun to hear that a guy as talented as him is a positive force beyond what he brings to the field. However, as Gary Kasparov says, no one defeats Father Time.
  5. 6 runs in 5 games? Sure hope some things change throughout the organization. Some sort of curse appears to have been placed upon our hitters. Not sure if we need to sacrifice a chicken, buy a book by L Ron Hubbard, or what. Sadly, not my area of expertise.
  6. I only started reading these today. Fun stuff! Thank you
  7. With no runner(s) on I have difficulty arguing with you. Nearly the whole team is hitting horribly so far this year. Correa, Buxton and Kirilloff are the only batters with a batting average >.200. Not very helpful. Gotta believe it will improve. Is has to, right?
  8. Long ago and far away, when I was just a lad. I remember he was a genuine threat. He was the first player I noticed fade into oblivion. It was OK though. I knew Camilo Pascual would pitch forever.
  9. Alcantara is being paid $9.3M this year and $17.3M the next 2 years. His contract includes a $21M option in 2027. He is exactly who they would like to trade. Someone with deep pockets may take Alcantara off their hands and gamble that he can return to pre 2023 Alcantara. If so, those are really low prices for what he can bring to the table. Luzardo costs about half what Arraez costs. Arraez & Alcantara are who they're looking to move, IMHO. Can't imagine why they'd move Luzardo. Along with Arraez he's one of the reasons anybody goes to Marlin games. If I'm wrong please explain it to me. Thanks
  10. I am all in on AK having a GREAT season. All the hype from 3 and 4 years ago will show as justified.
  11. Don't understand the left left right right beginning of the lineup. I am not a professional baseball manager and am not under any illusions that I know baseball better than Rocco. Just seems odd to me. Go Twins!
  12. This was an interesting article. Thank you. I don't follow teams like I did once upon a time, so it's fun to read someone's take. Baseball ⚾️ is awesome!
  13. Gaetti took 5 seasons and nearly 2400 PA before he generated an OPS+ of 100 or better. I don't expect Lee to have the power Gaetti had, but I expect above average hitting to occur earlier in his career. That's largely why I'm happy to have Lee start the season in AAA. I want him to make a positive impact when he hits the big leagues.
  14. That may be, but if his OPS is capped at .839 (his 2023 OPS) I think we'll all learn to live with that.
  15. Nice article Parker. Thank you. It certainly appears that Julian has a well planned approach at the plate. I am optimistic. More so with him than with Wallner. Hopefully they are all studying their approach as throughly as Edouard is.
  16. Last year 5 of these players had an OPS >.800. This year we'll only have 1? I think that's unlikely
  17. I suggest you look at his ERA, FIP, K/9 and ERA+ for 2021, 2022 and 2023.
  18. I prefer 'self delusional' to 'stupid', but I marvel how I was starting to think Canterino could be healthy & helpful this year. The cancer has clearly spread to my brain.
  19. Comments from other fan sites (specifically Seattle) suggested that a high end pitcher could have been acquired. The cost: Royce Lewis. Perceived value is always going to be an issue. Would you have traded Royce for Logan Gilbert? For Jesus Luzardo? What more would we have had to give up? The Rays have traded away talented and fan favorite players. Hard to keep children as fans when you keep trading away their favorite players
  20. It's so rare that I read a TD article and think, "Yeah! I should have a gummy!"
  21. While there is a certain amount of all or nothing to his profile, his OBP through his minor league at bats was always high. Also, his Sept/Oct splits last season showed a .925 OPS. I'm cautiously optimistic. Go Twins!
  22. The Twins have loaded their potential bullpen with pitchers most teams don't want. Looking at the stats of these young men the Twins are looking to catch someone having a surprising turn around year. If Alcala shows promise there will be no one really in his way to the MLB bullpen. Wishing him well
  23. Great link. Thank you. Not noted is that Farmer has increased his OPS+ each of the last 3 years to 98 in 2023. Pretty nice for a guy who can be a good fielder at 2B, 3B and SS.
