For opening day 26? Or for all of time? Dan Hayes literally today said the price for Ryan is starting with two top 50 prospects, one of which is ready now and the other could be a lottery ticket. That’s the starting point, and it’s a fair one

Most of the players that were traded were free agents to be. After that the others were relievers which, historically, do bring good value especially during the in season deadline. No starting pitching was traded, no prospects were traded.

I think that’s pretty majorly undervaluing the players that would be coming back in a deal, especially for Ryan. That’s all I meant.

You traded players but got nothing back that could help the team more than James Outman being both A) On the team and B) The dh? Did they specifically receive players via trade that are still in high school?

The guy I want with Minnesota ties is Sam Hentges. He is potentially on the chopping block for Cleveland with who they need to protect for their 40 man, and he SHOULD be nearing full health this offseason following August 2024 surgery and missing all of 2025. He was SO good in 2022 and 2023 in to 2024, and I'd very much make a play for him to give him a shot in the bullpen.

Everything I heard was Irish had an agreement with Baltimore before the Twins even picked. So even though their choice came after the Twins, he really wasn't available to them. I'd love to be wrong.

It’s the Pohlads, I have to imagine. If the Pohlads had sold, and there were new owners here and they went with Shelton (or anyone else) the comments wouldn’t be as numerous as they are angry. On his own, Shelton could be great here, but “right sizing” the organization after the 2023 playoffs still has everyone either mad or angry.

I was good with going with Tait there. But you aren’t wrong. I do think Culpepper can be a good defensive SS, but I don’t see a way he doesn’t start the year in aaa. Marek Houston might be the best defensive SS in the system but he starts at high a. I know Brooks Lee is set to start at SS opening day but I wouldn’t hate at all making it an emphasis to shoot for a higher end defender at either SS or 2b than they currently have there. Course, if Keaschall can hit like he does then it’s less of a problem if he isn’t high end on defense at 2b. But yeah, if they do trade Ryan, I think they need either a good young catcher or good young SS coming back in the deal who would be on the team opening day

I would very much be open to that type of move too. Harder for a rebuilding team to trade prospects, but a prospect for prospect deal would be fun for sure.

From St Louis, do you have a preference between Pages, Crooks or Bernal as a target? All of them to me seem destined to stay behind the plate. They also have Ivan Herrera who is more a c/dh type (but can really hit) and Rainel Rodriguez who is probably a few years away. I wonder what they would want for any of their young catching?

Totally fair, and probably true. Then maybe that’s not the deal to make.

If they can get a good beater this offseason that can hold down the fort for 60-90 games and at least be solid on defense, that’s a win. Agree with you there. I brought up Rutschman because he has 2 years remaining and should make the same as Ober, or in the ballpark, via arbitration, in 2026. Around 6 or 7 million (sorry to everyone in advance for saying 6-7.) I wouldn’t bring him in for a lot more than Ober, and I don’t know that Baltimore trades him anyway, but I’d be open to a deal built around these parameters. That’s certainly better than giving up Ryan for someone unproven. The offseason will be interesting. Or at least I hope it will

The Twins did that with Jeffers in the last decade, but you aren’t wrong. If the right guy is there in the upper rounds I’m all for it. They most likely won’t use their first pick in 2026 on one, as there isn’t anyone ranked as highly as they will pick. Whatever they do this offseason, I’d prefer to trade for a catcher compared to what’s mostly on the free agent market. That’s all

1) How soon do they intend to fill out and complete the coaching staff? 2) How would he describe his coaching style? 3) What type of team does he envision the 2026 team to play like on offense? On defense? 4) Favorite bottle of bourbon or scotch that generally retails under $40. How about favorite that retails over $100.

Irish isn’t a catcher. Basallo combined more time at 1b and dh last year than games he caught. I do like Bodine, and they have Rutschman for 2 more years. Curious how many of these 4 truly are mlb level catchers that can catch more than 90 games in a season.

Came back to this comment. Salary wise and years of control would match up pretty well here. Curious what else would need to be added to make it work. Both players certainly could use a change of scenery.
