As a starter in 2024, he was AWFUL. 0-5 record, 47 2/3 innings, 28 walks, 31 k's, a 5.85 era and a 5.5 fip. He was cooked.
Then, when switching to a reliever, he really was pretty remarkable.
32 innings pitched, 53 k's, 16 walks, a 3.09 era and a 2.76 fip. That's 14.91 k's per 9.
It's a small sample, granted. But the Nationals are paying him because he struck out that many guys when he switched to the bullpen.
