I don't know for sure if the Ishbia brothers (if they are going to buy the team) won't want Falvey around. But I will say, Falvey and Zoll (side note, if Falvey and Lavine were Falvine, are we going to try out FalZoll?) are in charge right now, and they are listening on Pablo or anyone, they will have to decide on baseball decisions today right? And I'd be totally fine having them make baseball decisions instead of ones that would just be for cost cutting.

I think you'd have to be blown away to trade Pablo. If they do get blown away with an offer, then you listen. For people that like looking at baseball trade values, think at least double of what Pablo is valued at. That's what I mean. Not equal value, double. I don't know what he is currently, but it's a kind of deal that you would have to say sounds interesting to do it. I don't want to trade him, I don't. But it's good to listen on everyone.

Royce isn't going for 2 years of a pitcher who has had injury concerns. I have been a fan of Luzardo for years, but Royce is off the table in those discussions.

I’d hate to trade him. I would. I don’t see Boston trading Duran, but I would imagine they would start with Casas and Meyer. If Baltimore does offer Basallo and say another of their high end guys (Mayo?) and maybe a lottery ticket, it could get interesting. I bet new hitting coach Borgschulte would have an opinion to share.

I don’t know if this should be in another thread. If so I apologize. But Max Kepler, long time Twin, is signing a 1 year deal for 10 million. Best of luck to Max

I’m with this. I’ll go even one (crazy) step forward. I’d be ok with shifting Buxton to left and having Rodriguez in cf. Maybe that doesn’t happen opening day, but I can see that happening at some point

The most recent Fangraphs update is from June 2024. Mlb had an update a week ago. They put him at #63 overall. Personally I do love his bat to ball skills quite a bit. Curious where he plays defensively, but I have zero doubt he is a major leaguer

Minor League Transactions (Offseason 2024-25)
Cory Engelhardt replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
According to their transactions log, the Twins signed pitcher Chase Chaney. He spent last year at AA in the Angels organization. https://www.milb.com/player/chase-chaney-681116 -
Zero chance they can get a top 60 global prospect for Castro. None. Keaschall is a lot better than you are giving him credit for

As a low octane move, Lamonte Wade would add a ton of on base percentage to the lineup, and he certainly wouldn’t cost a ton in prospects. That’s just one example, but there are many. And I do think they can/should be open to trading an arm from the minors. Not multiple necessarily, but I can totally see it

Yeah I’m not pushing anyone out the door so to speak. But I do think when they say they are going to be creative and look at the trade market this offseason, that means everyone is on the table other than Correa, Buxton, Lewis, Lopez, Ryan and Jenkins. Buxton and Correa for no trade clauses, Lopez and Ryan for coming off a down and an injured season, and Jenkins for being such a high octane prospect. I’d also be surprised if they traded either Ober or Jax, but not shocked, because they have traded guys in the past coming off career seasons when their value is highest (Arraez is the obvious answer there.) Everyone else should be potentially available for the right deal

Yes, but that is why they are looking at the trade market primarily no?

Possibily true. I think for me with Wallner I’m just mostly nervous of his overall K rate generally. If this season he can show he can make it work as a full time regular, that’s a good thing. This team does have a lot of talent overall, but at the same time they have a ton of guys who have really only been good for short amounts of time, not full seasons. I’d love to see some of their hitters put together a full/quality season together

Because I also think they will add a 1b/dh this offseason.

100% sign me up for this deal. I love Nardi’s stuff, and when Luzardo is healthy, his stuff is amazing too. He is also Pablo’s good friend in real life, which helps.

Counterpoint; if Rodriguez comes up and shows he will stick, AND Jenkins debuts this year (he has already made AA) then both Larnach and Wallner will potentially have to prove they can stay right?

Let’s say they do this with Rodriguez. Sign him to a deal like Milwaukee did with Chourio and have him up on opening day. I don’t personally see it happening, but let’s play this out. Who is getting traded first then; Larnach or Wallner?

The Twins haven’t really done this before. I can’t see it happening at all with Jenkins, if I understand his agent to be Scott Boras. Is that correct still? Who is Rodriguez’s agent?

I’d be nervous of the strikeout rate, but the fit makes sense. If I am the twins I’d ask for another piece, possibly a low minors arm they find interesting.

I am really excited about Festa's potential. His strikeout stuff is legit, and if he can learn even an average 4th pitch (or even slightly below average) I think he could easily vault into our top 3. I also think it'll be interesting how the bullpen is constructed to assist with the rotation. I look at the list now, and there are 9 guys who currently will be working towards gaining a spot (Jax, Duran, Alcala, Stewart, Sands, Varland, Tonkin, Topa and Castellano, let alone Funderburk, Henriquez or more additions this winter.) I have to think they may carry more guys this year who can/will go multiple innings. Even Rocco said last week that they are toying with the idea of employing Jax in a similar role to how Detroit used Tyler Holton last season. Holton started 9 games and threw 95 innings in 2024. So if they do roll with a 5 man rotation, I have to think they will plan for MORE depth to be had with guys who can give multiple innings than they did in 2024.

Minor League Transactions (Offseason 2024-25)
Cory Engelhardt replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Never have enough pitching. Also... I doubt Festa sees much time at AAA this year. Varland will be firmly entrenched in the mlb bullpen. Matthews and Morris and Raya and Lewis will be starters, with Dobnak and McCaughan as my guess. Headrick, Adams, MacLeod, Ynoa and Nowlin will all be relievers, no? Pierson Ohl, maybe he is at AA? -
Gotta say, I don’t really love either of these options. It’s probably naive, but I would love to trade for a big bat. Yandy Diaz would be so good here, but if he isn’t available, I would go to the giants and flip something to them for Lamonte Wade jr. He also is signed just through 2025 for only about 4 million, and he gets on base a lot (when he is healthy)
