  1. No, you just got the concept! You just open your arms under this thing, and is impossible for the opposing pitcher to miss you. Now you are in first, and with this thing on you fly around the bases. Run in!
  2. Could be adjusting to pitchers with more spin in their fastball (more "raise"), so what was a well hit ball now is a "pop up"?
  3. My humble opinion, it is not this trade what derails "Plan A". It is the decision (forced or otherwise) to slash 30 million from payroll.
  4. Reading through this analysis, one can't but to realize that Mauer is a 1st try Hall of Famer for a reason.
  5. Did you see the swing in that clip when he was a 4-5 year old? The same swing!
  6. I think in sports and in other orders of life, there is nothing wrong with gathering as much info as possible. The challenge then is to select the information that is important and relevant.. That is what the greats do. To select that little detail that is giving you the clue about that to do.
  7. “Trey’s going to show up at the winter meetings in a leather jacket and chat up (professional sports superagent) Scott Boras about going to a sound bath in Sedona and finding his chi,” said a Minnesota Twins beat writer who asked not to be identified. “I respect what he’s done in our industry, but it’s a little much. I was on Jeopardy.” I sense an inside joke here.
  8. I have to say this also. The turnaround was done while still keeping a very decent farm system. That Cedar Rapids team it will star to bear fruit in 1 or 2 years, and there are players that will come sooner.
  9. Following on Game day. Looks like the umpire is squeezing Gray a bit. Is it so?
  10. I guess the answer depends on the grade of healing and the risk of re-injury. There will a risk, but the professionals can see how much it is. I would like option 2, but it doesn't make sense if chances are he has to come out after the 2nd or 3rd at bat.
  11. I have a solution: Declare a National Holiday for every MLB playoff date.🙂
  12. What impressed me is the willingness to take walks. Those walks were Ks earlier in the year.
  13. I know why he did it alright. But still, the people who pay the tickets went to see an MLB baseball game, not a guy lobbing the ball over the plate for more than an hour. I remember Francona was an extreme case of optimizing bullpen match-ups, leading to infinite delays and ultimately to a change of rules. I wouldn't be surprised if eventually MLB tweaks the rules in cases like this as well.
  14. I know it was a whooping for the ages. But what do you think about putting a position player to pitch..in the sixth inning! Less that 2/3 of the game. I know Francona is a great manager, and I understand why he did it. But to me that is kind of disrespectful to the people who pay their tickets to see a major league game.
  15. That is why Stevenson, I guess
  16. They try Des Moines, but somehow it didn't work
  17. Today Keuchel pitches. Chances are, Sands will be used a lot today...
  18. It depends. If the goal is give a break to Ryan and/or Ober and/or whoever to have them fresh for the final run and playoffs, great! He looks like a pitcher capable to doing that. Now, at any time he can give you a clunker or two. If we are thinking a starter for the playoffs, I am more skeptical.
  19. Regarding Ryan and pitching, I think there is an opportunity here. Move Alcala or De León to the 60-day IL, put Ryan on the IL with whatever, and call up Keuchel right in time before you have to release him. If he get crushed, you release Keuchel then. Does it make sense?
  20. It looks like it is a chronic problem, so a 10 day IL would be of no to little help. I would not surprise me if there is another medical intervention at the end of the season. In the meantime, they will try to make him play what he can play. Of course I wish he could, but beyond all the talk, I don't think he can ple CF this year, and who knows if he ever can come back to play there.
  21. UNfortunately, we have to add Jorge Lopez to this mix.
  22. I guess he sees what all of us can see too: good stuff. But also we can see a knack for throwing a bad pitch at the worst time
  23. Most probably Julien for Polanco, if needed. I hope Gallo just needs 1 or 2 days off. Garlick or Wallner for Gordon
