  1. I'd like for the Twins to bring up Miranda when he's red hot, so I'd prefer him being brought up at the end of last season and waited a little longer this season. Nevertheless he's got his 1st taste of MLB so when he does go down he'll be that much hungrier and wiser to return.
  2. 1st I'd like to wish Kiriloff the best! and that he'd be able to figure out this puzzle. I credit Kiriloff's dad on his hitting prowess and also Kepler change of philoshophy. Kiriloff's dad was working with Kepler during the off season and I noted that Kepler was going the other way by his swing.
  3. I suggested last year for Arraez to play 1B, but I was welcomed with the comment that he's to short. Arraez isn't the proto-type big power hitting 1B but to keep his bat in the line-up and his lack of range, this is a good position for him. I'm happy w/ his performance so far and with Kiriloff demoted to AAA with the possibility of Kiriloff gone the rest of the year to have surgery to widden the gap of his wrist. We will actually need him to continue to play there. Arraez has never impressed me with his speed but last night he stole 2B and scored on a hit. Has he sprouted wings?
  4. I'm very happy with whatever amount of time Buxton is in the line-up. Baidelli isn't resting Buxton because he's not tired, he's managing Buxton time based on the degree of discomfort on any given game. Buxton should eventually recover from his banged up knee & hip, so he could play more games than what you've stated. But if it doesn't or if he has a different accident, I'd be very content with that if he's 100% coming into post season.
  5. Super report Nick. The series w/ Hou was indeed tempestious in many ways. Being outmatched IMO our rotation was trying too hard to make up the difference and got burned out. Ryan has bounced back nicely hope Archer and Winder will likewise. Lewis has out performed even the most generous expectations in his MLB debute. Like I've said before even when Correa returns Lewis should stay up. He'll learn more from Correa than what he can learn in AAA. Correa probally won't not return 100% and Lewis can sub frquently, Lewis is also our best choice to sub Polanco & Urshela. Although our OF is gelling, he could be used out there also in a pinch. Lewis has proved when he was AFL's MVP that you can put him in any new position and he'll excel, thus further proving he doesn't need to return to AAA. Although Garlick could be used to sub Kepler when facing a good LHP (while taking a hit at defense), Celestino should have priority over Garlick. Eventhough Garlick's HR% is pretty good against LHPing in general, his BA and OBP are terrible even primarily facing LHPing. So if there's a need to keep some one on the 40 man, Garlick should be the odd man out. Our BP took a beating at HOU's hand but Smith has been steady. They have bounced back against CLE. With this soft up coming schedule, Twins should further their lead in the Central, the rotation should further be established and injuries should be resolved. So that when we starting having competitive schedule we'd hopefully we'll be ready.
  6. Smeltzer & co. kept us in the game. He should have been called up from the start of season to help out in long relief. From ST Smeltzer shown he's ready this season, forget about the time he struggled. I was impressed that w/o our main SS & CF in the line-up we still competed. Other years we'd get clobbered
  7. I really like our rotation right now. In the beginning of the off season I wouldn't have signed Bundy and later I'd keep Rogers & not go with Paddack. I wouldn't have gone through all that riga ma role of trading Garver/ Rortvedt and unload Donaldson for Urshela & Sanchez. I suggested a Donaldson for Price (he's a great guy to have in the club house) trade instead I'd like the other 3, depending on the conditions of our rotation coming into the deadline, I'd be open to trade for one these guys. Montas would be my 1st choice because he'd be the easiest to extend, all of them would be expensive but I'd say Montas would be the cheapest. Depending on who they'd want in young players and prospects, we could afford it.
  8. Who's better in LF Garlick/ Larnach defensively is debateable but the point is that Celestino is so much better than either of them. His ability to also to play a good CF plus his hitting is coming alive and his ability to stay healthy there's no contest in my book.
  9. I didn't say he can't hit lefties my point is that he's overrated about his performance facing lefties and that I'd expect much better from him in those situations since that's the reason why we have him on the 40 man.
  10. I never once mentioned that Garlick played CF at anytime, Garlick isn't good at the corner OF spots much less CF. What I'm against is that OFers are judged solely by their bat, IMO Garlick isn't that good even facing primarily LHPing. Therefore it's ridicious to keep him on the 40 man.
  11. Great game! There hasn't been any doubt in my mind that they should keep Lewis up here. He has proven that he's ready for any challenge, the best thing right now in his development is to learn right beside Correa. Lewis has a good shot at ROY if he he keeps this up. He has shown when he was MVP at AFL that he can go to any position and excel, OF or INF. He doesn't need to go back to AAA to learn anything.
  12. FO delay of getting a legit CF sub, kept me waiting for Celestino to come up. Now as he has come accustomed to MLB, his bat has come alive and he has excelled in defense but not quite acheived Buxton level. We can now finally quit wasting our time with Cave & Garlick type and cut them loose. Agreed that now with Celestino & Gordon able to play CF we can keep Kepler in RF. That has made our OF so much better. IMO we can't have enough CF caliber OFers if there isn't room at CF they can play somewhere else not vise versa. TB has 4 CF caliber OFers, that plus their pitching has kept them successful.
  13. I'd include SWR. I don't see any of these to really impact the Twins this year but being called up sometime this year and get their feet wet will do wonders for their development.
  14. With all the Houston's RHPs, why didn't Gordon play more? With many LH hitters hurt there was no need to put so many RH hitters in the line up and not play Gordon.
  15. IMO playing the red hot Astros under these conditions were far from ideal, it should have called much sooner.
  16. The team that faced Verlander is very young, it's good experience for them, they need it when they arrive to the post season. Experience is valuable if you think you can win with only youth you are sorely mistaken. They'll learn from this series and grow, hopefully we don't get swept with this team that they putting out there. Also I was expecting more from Polanco.
  17. We have a pretty good B squad but nevertheless it is our B squad and you can't win big games with your B squad. It's hard to win games w/o Buxton and Correa and w/ a RHP starting Arraez's bat is much missed. I felt sorry for Ryan trying to keep the ball away from this strong line up. Verlander pitched great yet got a lot of calls that went his way, I've advocated for a long time for robo umps because regular umps are usually bias towards big teams and big players. With Verlander pitching I'd like to see as many LH hitters in the line up as possible, why wasn't Gordon in the line up? It might not have change anything but you knows? He could have gotten a hit early that could've changed the tide. Kiriloff is noticibly struggling with wrist issue, the place to figure it out is AAA not the MLB.
  18. Most pitchers have figured it out the dead ball since 2020 but this management maybe has figured it out as far pitching goes but not as far as hitting goes. Saw a great MLB segment where Jim Thome was praising Trout for being able to level off his swing so he wouldn't strike out as much. When will we be able to figure it out.
  19. It's evident by his swing that he's still having pain in his wrist. The place to work thru that is AAA not MLB, he should of stayed at AAA until it's resolved not brought up.
  20. I love his deceptive arm angle and GB% with our top INF out there you can't ask for anything better.
  21. Gordon's trade value was much higher a few ago. Now it has bottomed out and we won't get much in return for him in a trade. That said, Gordon has impressed me in how he has adapted to play CF on the fly last year to show his athleticism. More he plays and become more acclimated to MLB I see him continue to improve and contribute to the team. Unfortunately, although I like his flexiblity, this is his last year of availability and Martin and Lewis can replace him. So next year doesn't paint a very good picture for him.
  22. I don't care if Smeltzer isn't on the 40 man we need him on the active list. He has pitched well enough to be selected and we need him if not in the rotation therefore in long relief. Using 4 short RPs every game is going burn them out again (seems like almost every year they do it).
  23. In the beginning of the year there were a lot of question marks. one of the biggest was was who would adquately sub Buxton? There was no doubt about Celestino's glove, there was only doubt about his bat and wether he could get his bat going in the MLB instead of doing it in AAA. He has answered that question. 2nd was how fast or if Lewis could play SS in the MLB? Not playing for 2yrs. and after only playing AA. He has marveled all of us in answering that question, with all those challenges and only being 20yrs old. Winder and Duran has answered other question marks, while having a new question on who will be the next closers? Hopefully that will soon be answered.
  24. Many people think soccer is boring, that's because they don't understand the stradegy or mechanics of the game. Many Brazilians think baseball is boring because they don't understand the stradegy and mechanics of the sport. I've came to appreciate soccer because I've taken the time to understand the stradegy of the it. In baseball I enjoy a good pitching duel between batter & pitcher, great defense and a well execution of small ball more than watching a home run derby.
