    Great job by Correa offensively and defensively, hope he'll start to explode. Urshela has been pretty stable offensively and defensively (not missing Donaldson). Larnach is coming around and Celestino is starting to hit, hope he can sustain it because we need his glove in the line up. Garlick is taken up a much needed 40 man spot.

    I'd like to keep Winder up because we desperately need long relief, I'd like to bring up Smeltzer to help out in that department. I'd give them as many innings as possble. When Gray returns, IDK how fast he'll get up to 5 innings. Garlick should be released, Celestino, although our best back up glove needs more time in AAA to hone his hitting. I'd like Godoy to stay up but I'm afraid he'd be sent down. When the active roster is reduce I'd send down Stashak

    Smeltzer has looked good all year , they should find room on the 40 man and find as many innings as possible for him & Winder in long relief.

    I expected a lopsided victory, I suggested that this would have been a good time to give a big name a rest, besides they weren't lighting up any way, Happy to see Kepler, Jeffers and Larnach doing well. And of coarse Joe Ryan had a great night. Go Twins!

    Nice article Theo, good argument on these options. In the OF the best fielder of the 3 is by far Celestino yet he'd probably need more time in minors to hone his hitting skills, thus the 1st to go down. Although Larnach isn't great in the field yet he's better than Garlick. I'd like to send Larnach down to futher hone his skills but I'd rather have Larnach stay because IMO he's close to be able figure things out on the MLB level. The worse of the 3 is by far Garlick that should never be on the 40 man. Even if he starts mashing LHPing, I'd have him around for PHing with very limited fielding opportunities. That leaves Godoy, evidently he's our best option of those in AAA. So I'd like to keep him around so the rotation can get used to him and he's old enough where maybe a trip down to AAA might not be benificial for him to improve his hitting.

    I think where I'm harder on Sano' is his lack of hustle. I like his strength and quickness that should result in success. I don't fault Sano' on his hitting, I fault the coaching. Last year was terrible to watch our Twins swing out of their spikes to shoot for the moon. In games we lost this year, I listened to the interviews, Baldelli said they did accomplished their objectives and the players stated that they didn't hit HRs when they needed to. I'm afraid that the focus of management is "moon shots", management needs to focus on teaching hitting. Sano' has good plate discipline but because of his swing, he oftens doesn't keep his eye on the ball and not able to hold back on some questionable pitches. Getting back to basic hitting could very well help Sano', not only him but the whole team.

    I'm all for giving rest to the players, spreading out time between the starters and their capable subs. But I don't agree with the management of that time. Playing against the team we are in competition for the division championship, I'm against giving rest to any of our starters especially at key positions and their a significant drop off in talent. Correa should not have been rested in this game. This idea of rest should be incorporated in the BP. A lot of dependency are put on the very few short RPs. This dependency has burned out our short RPs which this dependency is then transferred to the SPs which in turn burns them out. Our pitching is very good but fragile, my solution is to take off this burden off the short relief and use our long relief more. Smeltzer is deserving to be brought up and Winder needs more innings. They could be used along with Coloumbe to pitched 2-4 innings in almost every game and reserve the short RPs to only to the high leverage innings. To properly manage the players will help prevent injuries and burn outs, keeping everyone rested and happy throughout the season and into the post season

    Keplers training with Kiriloff's looks like it's finally paying off. By his swing off of a video of one of his training sessions, look like he was going the other way. Maybe ST threw it off and now his swing is coming to it's desired groove. I was impressed that his much needed hits came off of LHP in yesterday's game. Go Kepler! I also liked Sano's swing with that single. Maybe some of our hitters are getting away from the management's desired swing to finding their own productive swing

    I think this FO is hoping that Correa will have a great year and move on. It's nice that Correa likes it here (hopes he has both vaccine shots + booster). As much as I like him, I don't think it'll happen. But hope he sticks around to help us advance in the post season this year. Nevertheless it'd be very tempting for this FO to trade Correa unless we have a monster season, especially if Lewis has a pretty good year in AAA.

    I like your "growling expections", Nash. Although I like the Tiger's team, I expect the Twins to sweep the Tigers. Buck is on a tear, Twins are very familar with Pineda so I think that that game could be a blow out. This game could be a good game to give some key players a day off (not w/ CWS).

    Thanks Nick for letting us know what's out there and a quick synopsis of each. We have a bunch that could come up and contribute. Smeltzer has pitch well in ST and AAA, he should have been called up right away. Winder and Smeltzer should be used more often in long relief. A big problem is having our 40 man roster jammed packed with redundant players so there is no wiggle room so we can't freely call up a player we desperately need because he's not on the 40 man. It's looking after the small things that makes the difference

    It's reasonable to see that Archer is still fine tuning is slider, since FO didn't sign him until ST was almost over. In his interview he kept referring to Wes. So it goes to show that Wes Johnson is actively involved in his present training. Archer was uncharacteristic lacking control of his slider. Archer has had an elite slider, my hope is that Wes isn't trying to convert him to his slider on the fly like he was trying to do to Dobnak, which would prolong his return to form and produce finger problems. I'd love to have Santana spend some time with Archer to perfect his circle change up that propelled him to stardom.

    He is best baseball player in the world. No one can do what he does on a regular basis defense, hitting, hitting with power, speed and savy on the bases & field. What I really don't understand is what took this FO so long to extend him. Buck wanted to stay in MN, how many super stars want to come to MN. Sign such a owner friendly contract. FO reason was that Buck wanted a no-trade clause, why would we want to trade him? It took a loud out cry from the fans to finally get them off their butt. God bless Byron Buxton.

    Buxton is always absolutely amazing. He affects all aspects of the game true MVP caliber. Still waiting for Polanco & Correa to turn it around and help lead the team but with Buxton carring the team we can afford to be patient. I have to say that Baldelli called a good BP selection. Winder, Duran and Smith pitched great. Although I'd question why he'd rest Correa on such important game and why he feels the need to get Garlick in the game and compromise the defense.

    Our spark plug is back! Seems like we barely run on 4 cyliders w/o Buck, with Buck we run on all 8. Bundy pitched another fine game.

    I've been very impressed by the starting rotation. I wasn't surprised that Pagan got himself into that mess, seeing that he pitched the day before. But what impressed me was that he fought through and got the job done.

    I'm really happy about E Rod's hitting. When he was drafted, the feeling I got was he'd be a very good CF candidate so I thought he'd be the one who could fill Buxton spot when he'd move on. But looking at his speed & fielding grade at only 50 I'm having doubt that he'd stick there.

    It was a big mistake that CWS let Rondon walk, the problem IMO was that Rodon wasn't a work horse so La Russa didn't want him. CLE always beats up on CWS but this was awsome. Twins need to be pumped about that. CWS believes they have our number. We need to blow them away because we just used our 3 best short RPs in this last game and we have basicly Duffy to close.

    It was a great game by Ryan, Duran, Smith & Pagan. My observation is we used our best 3 short relief guys! Now playing our nemesis CWS who do we have to close out a game. Why don't they go with Winder for 2 innings then we still have 2 of these guys fresh for up coming games against CWS. We should have a regular schedule of long relief every game giving innings to Winder, Smeltzer and whoever is hot to go 2, 3 or even 4 if need be. These guys need to be pitching not sitting on the bench or stuck in AAA and the likes of Duffy needs to sit on the bench only to mop up until he figures it out. And we should have Duran, Smith and Pagan to close out separate games.

    I see what you mean. The Twins have helped some veterans that have passed through the organization but as bringing up & developing young prospects they seem to lag behind. Nothing of yet to compare with CLE, TB or LAD. These teams seems to produce & fill out their rotations with aces. Berrios comes the closest but they traded him. Is this a trend?

    If Correa doesn't turn it around, it'd be contrary, he'll be sticking around, But we are all wanting him to do well so he does leave us. We have more than these 3 like Christian Encarnacion- Strand Martins best path to the MLB is OF, Why have they put him on SS where he is projected not to make it and 2B where we are jam packed. The only answer I see is they that don't want Cave to have competion there. Silly isn't it.
