  1. If a Mauer type was available for #8 this year draft pick, I'd gobble him up so fast. Just because it's such a demanding position where 1 person alone can't man there 100% of the time. Don't underestimate the value of a top rate catcher and at the same time don't overestimate the value of a bat 1st player. With the new rules of non contact at home the risk of pursuing a top rate catcher is much less.
  2. Another flat game from the baby blue Twinkies uniforms, Why haven't they burned them yet? Why did they ever bring them back?! It's like a bad horror movie,
  3. Like you said Martin isn't a SS but is he still playing there? and why? Why isn't he playing CF? I won't mind if Martin becomes an Arraez w/ a glove and still believe eventually his power will come. I'm also getting a little impatient with Balazovich.
  4. Absolutely I'd vote for Archer because he's given us a chance to win every time he's pitches. He has given us the most quality innings for June. The only reason he qualifies is because he's been the healthiest. All the other SPs have been overextended resulting in injuries and ineffective arms. I don't understand those who complain that he doesn't pitch over 5 innings, do they want the whole rotation on the IL? So they can continue to scrap the bottom of the barrel like we did for most of last season. How can you compete that way?
  5. I hope not. For # 8 I'd like a catcher,CF or SS .
  6. Riverbrian relayed an article https://www.draysbay.com/2021/10/7/22703079/tampa-bay-rays-story-of-modern-baseball-power-starters-middle-relief-aces-collin-mchugh. I'd love to have 5 studs in the rotation who can complete games on a regular basis. One of the few teams who resemble this (LAD) limits their SPs bring in middle relief then their closer,to maximize their their results. The only stud we had, we traded away. The Twins have instead focused their attention on RPs wannabe SPs, reclamation projects and rookies. And try to maximize them to relieve the burden on the heavily reliant short relief corp and ignore long relief. How has this worked out? As predicted extending our rotation has resulted in injuries and ineffective arms.
  7. Ober in the pen, excelllent idea Karbo. But Winder in the rotation and still try to max him out is not a good idea. Winder has shoulder problems so I'd put him in the same boat as Ober, scheduled long relief at around 3 innings. Archer and Bundy are old veterans, so transitioning them to the pen will not be benificial, Leave them at SP but have them pitch 5 innings and once in a while 6 but not consecutively. Archer was pitching out of head (I believe of trying too hard to impress Wes) last outing and had command problems, I don't see any further problems moving forward.
  8. I felt like we have the team that should have swept CLE. My only solice from losing the series is my hope that some people will finally wake up & see that their mindsets are working. If that happens and make the nessary moves we'll come out on top.
  9. Great game, Gray was down from his last 7 inning wonder, but the Twins didn't give up & I'd thought we'd come back. They finally discovered long relief after 2 months lost. Cotton pitched where he belonged at long relief and did a fantastic job. PR for Urshella is the kind of small ball we need to be playing. Gordon seemes to get that key hit when we really need it. Polanco's HR and Miranda's hit were hugh. If we continue this formula we'll win more games than we'll lose. Especially SP + long relief + short relief (not SP+ short relief+ short relief + short relief + short relief). GO TWINS !!!!!!!!!!
  10. I liked Baldelli repacing Arraez with Gordon, showing he wanted to win. But when Buck came to bat I knew he was going to hit an HR, which caused that good move to non effective. Never the less I applaud it.
  11. About Buxton's HR, he said he put an half swing on that pitch and may sure he had put the barrel on the ball. That's what Sano needs to do, He's so strong & quick he can put any ball out of the park w/o even trying. But Sano has been bitten by the "moonblast bug" like so many Twins that have been encouraged by management. There has been so many wrong mindsets in this org. and slowly they are being changed. There has been some sparkle of hope for Sano but I'm afraid the bite of the "moonblast bug" for Sano is fatal. Like TopGun has said Sano's trade value is negative so a trade is not worth considering.
  12. The problem isn't that the rotation isn't pitching enough innings, the problem is everything is out of balance because there's never really any long relief to take up the extra innings. To help to compensate the over use of short relief they went to extend our rotation beyond their profile, resulting in injuries and ineffective arms. They should have had Winder, Smeltzer, Jax and Cotton scheduled to pitch long relief from the very beginning. By having the long relief put the ball in the closer's hand or even finish off a game that'd take a lot of pressure off the short relief and rotation help eliminate most of our injuries and ineffectiveness. To me sending Winder down to AAA was rediculous because we desperately need long relief. It's like long relief is not even an after thought. Until management wakes up we will constantly have the same problems year after year.
  13. Again I don't understand why they sent Winder down, We need good long relief to hand it over to Duran or to finish off the game. I wish Archer would have heard Gray talked about his success over CLE was not trying to SO them. If he would have done that and throw strikes he would have done a lot better, Again Archer needs to throw his change up for strike outs not to set up his other pitches because he gets a lot more KS strikes KL strikes when he throws it.
  14. Twins started out with a terrible defensive line up, Why did they send Palacios down? We need him desperately to help cover the INF. Again I will say that Cotton makes a much better long relief than short relief. He needs longer time to prepare. Everything else every one has thoroughly discussed.
  15. Unfortunately, if we hadn't traded Rogers for 2 problems, we just have to focus on a SP. Since it happened we need to find aother closer Bednar might be too rich for this FO blood. That leaves Bard, Bass and Mantiply as my choices. IMO the train has left for Montas, Castillo and maybe Mahle, Seems like Gallen has some arm problems, do we want to take a chance him? I don't think so. I like Marquez but I just heard that he hurt his hand, is it serious I don't know. Might be a good time to pry him away from CO. Do we want a Effross or Quintana, I don't know.
  16. 1st choice Parada (c) if he's not available then Neto. A guy can dream.
  17. I like Gallen and I'd pefer him over Paddack. Like Paddack it's too risky IMO
  18. Smeltzer pitched a great game. Defense wasn't great. Offense wasn't that great, although I loved Celestino triple and Correa HR was hugh. All that was good enough to win the game except that they bypassed our sure closer Duran to showcase Pagan again and again it failed. When are they going put the good of the team over them trying to justify their Rogers/ Paddack trade?
  19. Trevino was on my radar but recently his bad #s I have soured on him. Bad defense doesn't seem to bother Montas, I'm sceptical w/ his hard hit rate. I'm sure he'll be cheap but there's others out there I'm more interested in and could help the Twins more. I'd be willing if Montas was part of the deal but afraid maybe that train has past.
  20. With a guy like Gray around, it's easy to want him around for awhile. But I also concur that waiting is more prudent. Unless he's willing for a more team friendly contract.
  21. I was concerned about how the pitchers would react to Wes Johnson's leaving. Although Gray struke out only 3 batters, he dominated. I believe that each pitcher will pitch his best to send off Wes with a bang. The middle of the order carried the team last night, this team has set the tone for this series. I previous predicted for the Twins to take 3 out of 5 now I think the Twins could sweep CLE.
  22. #1 - I don't think that they'd trade Walker. #2 - If they do, they won't trade Walker straight up for Correa. A Walker trade you'd be looking at trading Kiriloff & Martin together with Correa. I wouldn't do that trade for a future 3B(we have a bunch) for a certified present SS with players like Kiriloff & Martin to boot. #3- We have a very legitimate chance for post season maybe better than STL. Our rotation has potential (it just needs to be managed a little better). If become a buyer instead of a seller we can pick up a bonafide SP and closer (Marquez/ Bard) we'd be sitting pretty well for PS.
  23. As always I'll advocate long relief to help with the short relief & rotation woes. Until Winder is ready to be installed there, I'd suggest to try to extend both Cotton & Thornburg to long relief. I feel Cotton needs more time to warm up because initially he starts off bad but gets better longer he's in the game, So I think they could schedule Cotton in long relief in advance (so he can properly warm up) and let him go 2-3 innings. Thornburg also seems he could go longer. The use of both Cotton and Thornburg immediately and Winder eventually could go a long way to help our woes in the rotation and in short relief. Palacios had been used a lot as utility when Lewis was at AAA, he shouldn't have been sent down to AAA. His glove is much needed to spell CC at SS, Polanco at 2B and Urshella at 3B. His hitting had been improving every game and the more he's exposed to MLB the better he'll become. Not only now but for the future. I'm hopeful for these up coming series. But they'll have to be tough against CLE, so we'll have to play our best defense, not to over stretch our pitchers and play small ball for those close games. Go Twins!
  24. I concur these prospect are expendable but their value aren't that great yet so IMO they'd be a 3rd piece to a trade.
