    Gleeman didn't offer an "emotional" response to Pagan, but rather telling stats. At the very least, the story in this data explains why fans are leary. This doesn't look like the profile of a reliever whose struggles are limited to a "disastrous first few months."

    Before this series, the bats were quiet. It was awful. Yes, we could have won this game but didn't, and Pagan shouldn't be a relief pitcher. But at least the offense started rolling!

    Last season when I saw the team struggle to score runs, I thought -- they REALLY need Arraez. The general sentiment was that a starting pitcher was more valuable (ok), but also that Arraez was easily replaced. Not so. Still, the offense seems much worse than you'd expect, as several folks have noted. I assume the poor group performance is about a team approach to hitting, and that the offense has not slipped into some uncanny MN sports version of the Bermuda Triangle.

    Why this team sends down or benches hot bats (Wallner this time) is a mystery. I thought this year's team had promise but here we are in familiar offensive doldrums. The Twins plodded through last season and this feels like a repeat. Last year I would think -- well, just imagine if we didn't have Arraez... I don't know if plantar fasciitis has been contributing to Correa's woes all season, but clearly something is amiss. Bench Kepler, his heart isn't in it.

    And maybe Jeffers' batting work is starting to really pay off and we are seeing another upward trend develop? One game not a trend, but wow Jeffers hit a bullet last night to win the game and he also had two singles. Maybe he is earning a bigger role especially if Vasquez doesn't return to form.

    A clutch hitter in his first game back - just what the Twins need. Congratulations, Mr Lewis!! Kirilloff looks good, too. And Wallner was on base 8 times before being sent down. The young crew have some life to their play -- even as Correa and Buxton are struggling.

    I don't get this team. They have a good game, then disappear. The inconsistency is painful. Correa's struggles were well publicized, but Buxton has been a notable dud with runners in scoring position. Here and there someone shows a spark offensively, but then they conk out. Wallner does hit, but is sent back down. With such superlative starting pitching, you'd think the offense would be fired up. Instead, they seem deflated and depressed.

    Plantar fasciitis really can be extremely debilitating. You know how you get PT exercises and tail off after a while? I have done exercises daily for years to ward off a return of plantar fasciitis. I sure hope Correa has a mild case.

    Love how these guys came back after the first game in the series -- it was tremendous as a fan to see the Twins at Dodger stadium putting together a well played game against Kershaw with small ball. And it's great to see a number of Twins players rising to the occasion -- Ober, Farmer, Taylor. The supporting cast this year is really helping around the edges, key for a top team. The "reluctant lead off hitter" looks like he's off to a good year. Lots of pieces coming together - different ways to win...

    After all these years, the starting rotation is fantastic. I don't want to lose sight of that. The offense is lifeless. Hoping for a spark.

    Delighted to see Arraez do well -- I loved seeing him as a Twin so thoroughly enjoying being up to bat.

    I hate to see Arraez leave. It was a pure joy to watch him hit - and the Twins really need hitters who get on base. Heck, he won a batting title. I will never forget the time he stood in at the plate for Cron -- working his way to a walk in a heroic at-bat. Arraez has heart, he so clearly loves the game. He worked hard to strengthen his knees and his durability in the last season.

The Dodgers did the right thing, Bauer is a toxic and repellent person, accused by multiple women of sadistic sexual violence. I would be disgusted if the Twins get involved with this.

    The most unlikely has happened if this pans out -- the Twins front office comes away with a win in off-season trading. Correa is a great ball player who will be an anchor for this infield AND a team leader. I liked hearing, for example, that he helped Miranda in the offseason. So, ok, the journey to this deal was meandering to say the least, but this is positive news for the Twins and the weary fandom in an otherwise bleak off-season.

    Arraez is my favorite Twins player. I would be very sorry to see him go.

    That's very fair.

    Arraez may not be in the same category as Albies, Acuna, et al, but he is in a highly desirable category of his own. He won the dang batting title and he's a fighter at the plate with some truly remarkable at bats. He did just fine at first base. He worked hard last off season to get stronger. His work ethic is outstanding and he's well liked by his teammates. He's not a conventional ball player, but he's a special player - in the best sense.

    The last couple of games the Twins have made a game of it - exciting to watch and fun to root for. The trades for pitchers raised the quality of the staff and are really important to the psychology of the game -- the Twins batters feel the pitching staff is in this thing with them. Wish the call had gone their way today, but this can fire up and unite the team. It sure fired up Rocco, and I'm sure the players felt supported by him, too.

    I guess they see something in the analytics for Pagan, but the eye test says otherwise. So does the score. And every game when the starter is pulled early (which is literally just about every game), I feel a sense of existential threat when it could be Pagan time. It diminishes a bit when we're leading by seven runs or more.
