  1. More importantly, what is their record against teams with records >.500. 36-38. They have improved that number compared to what it was at the All-Star break.
  2. No, not realignment. If and when MLB expands by two teams, realignment might occur. I mean the discussions behind the back door, curtains closed when owners speak their minds about what is holding the sport back, whatever minimizes their ticket sales whenever an AL Central club visits their stadium, about the disparity in fielding a competitive environment. All of these affect their pocketbooks and about that, they are concerned.
  3. Early Minneapolis 17 tractor.
  4. Market size, yes. Ownership, no. San Diego's payroll shows depth of pockets trumps market size (though not W/L success). All AL Central owners are billionaires (getting my head around a billion is hard this morning). https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/12/mlb-owners-net-worth.html
  5. Curious. This winter, will the owners privately address the dismal state of AL Central? How might they go about that? For a professional sport to have a perennially, dismally weak division harms the sport and business (attendance when AL Central opponent visits). AL Central is a laughing stock. It's about time to address that but don't know if or how other owners might take action. DIVISION RECORD OUTSIDE DIVISION AL East 231-164 (.585) NL East 217-198 (.523) NL West 209-204 (.506) AL West 201-204 (.496) NL Central 195-207 (.485) AL Central 157-233 (.402) Your thoughts? db
  6. This evening, the two pair off in Houston vs Texas, on free MLB.TV. Will be good duel. Hamilton vs Burr. https://www.mlb.com/news/astros-face-rangers-in-free-game-of-the-day db
  7. I as well. I had the Twins winning 79. They would have to go 6-17 to hit my number. I am just glad we are seeing excellent ball this fall.
  8. I am not saying Twins don't have a good shot. I am a realist. Teams love, love to play spoiler. I just find it early.
  9. I couldn't agree more but it is a funny game. In a different vein, we have seen excellent ball this Fall.
  10. I realize that as well as Tigers' and Cleve has one of the toughest remaining.
  11. Not being negative, but seems early to celebrate. In 2013, Cleve went on a 10 game streak and ended up in the post-season,
  12. Top of the 7th, 1-1, Tigers/Yanks. Cole at 104 pitches.
  13. In pre-game show, Francona said that this is their most important game of the year.
  14. A like for being the first post of the year with "undulating."
  15. Solano hitting .370 over last 26 games.
  16. It will be about whoever finds momentum. I am not as confident as some posters seem to be. It will be interesting and again, 1/2 eye on Hinch's Tigers. Have won 4/row -- bumping up against Cole/Yanks tonite.
  17. It's just like stocks. There is a resistant price they tend to bounce against and drop.
  18. Official scorer's option to add a run,
  19. Dust off the memory cells. Hector Santiago. Pitching for the Monclava Acereros (Steelers) in Mexican League. Beard is getting white, Hector.
  20. Palka was a crowd fave w/WSox fans, constantly teasing and kidding w/Twitter fans.
  21. Kennys Vargas? Gone but playing. Hitting .297/.917 for Guadalajara in the Mexican League.
  22. This time the charge was a felony, not a misdemeanor. Spent the night in the county hoosegow. Even the LA Times ran an editorial opinion piece by their longest running sportswriter that Urias should be toast in the MLB: https://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/story/2023-09-04/dodgers-julio-urias-domestic-violence-case-commentary Dodgers starting rotation going into post-season is skinny, skinny, thin, thin,
