    With the tremendous amount of time not in the lineup, and the multitude of 'injuries', I'm thinking this is just not a physical issue. I believe a player's mental health issues can be just as debilitating as the player's physical health. Too much time is maybe spent on physical rehab versus mental rehab and preparation. This is only conjecture on my part, but I think it should be considered. Buxton may have issues that are far greater than just his physical status.

    Cleveland must be getting a good chuckle. They taught Falvey everything he knows, but they didn't teach him everything, they know. If they overcome Minn and win the Central, they will will really have schooled him.

    The FO guys may be judged, but they aren't going anywhere. I would not be surprised me to see the same batch of characters come the start of next season.

    The beauty of being in the AL Central is that you can re-tool or even rebuild and still have a shot of possibly winning the division title. None of the teams or organizations are powerhouses.

    I remember my cousin and I had just attended a Twins night game. While the fans were pretty passive most of the time, occasionally, you would run into a brief hassle or even a fight in the Met's parking lot. One night, we could see this huge crowd gathered, and we assumed some trouble was brewing. Wanting to check it out, we weaved our way to the center of the crowd. There was no fight. It was Harmon and Bob Allison sitting on the tailgate of a pick up truck, signing autographs. They must have been there more than an hour after game time, signing away.

    I was born in richfield, mn, just across the freeway from Met stadium. At night you could stand in our back yard and see the lights from the Met and even hear the PA announcer. My dad died when I was six and my brother took over as head of the household. He was all-city and state in baseball and hockey. Needless to say, his love of sports interested me. We went to many games at Met stadium. Our church was responsible for sweeping and cleaning up the litter at Met stadium. So as you can seen I had a very direct connection with the Twins and Met Stadium. My uncle was an apartment manager in Bloomington. Many of the Twins players lived there, during the season, or even year round. I met many of them as they would come and go from their apartments.

    Another smart move was letting Minnesota hire Falvey. They knew what Falvey was all about.

    And I think Twins fans should be embarrassed. Cleveland, still believes it can be a seller, IMO, and still be in line to take the Central Division title.

    I hope not. I would be disappointed if he called the majority of the late inning pitches by relievers that sailed over the fence. Of course, calling, for a specific pitch and the pitcher able to throw the pitch, can be two different things. An inch here or there, can make a world of difference.

    Teams try to win games in order to draw fans. Obviously, not everyone wins enough, so the teams need to provide other means of entertainment. This may range from a decent baseball team, to a nice stadium, variety of concessions, mascots to entertain the kids and t-shirts shot from a hand cannon. So, Gallo fills a portion of that secondary entertainment. People love homers and want to cheer for the guy who hits the 400 foot blast. Gallo fills that role, although not often enough for most of us. The average fan (kid or adult) doesn't really get that involved in the myriad of stats measuring Gallo's effectiveness. They just want to see Gallo take a mighty swing and send the ball into the stands.

    The question is "how many dollars do we lose based upon the declaration of trading him. this was nothing more than trying to squeeze a few more dollars from fans who were dreaming of the impractical or the least probabi;ity of him staying an Angel. To paraphrase Lloyd Christmas, " Are you telling me there's a chance'?

    None? I can see at least 10 who would be an upgrade from the current Twins roster. Mr. Hader would be close to the top of my list.

    How long can this 'freefall" be tolerated? The fact is, we have several players who should not be on the 26 man roster. Forget about the injured or hurt players who are hanging around. We have healthy humans who should not be playing baseball for the club, right now. I can appreciate wanting to give players an opportunity to gather themselves and work things out, but there comes a point, when you have to make some difficult decisions. It's not fair to the fans, who spend top dollars for ticket and concessions, to be subjected to such an inferior product. Patience has worn thin. Whatever advantage or progress we have made is gone or slipping away. Do you rescue someone before they fall, or wait til they hit bottom, and then try to save them?

    Not sure but I would guess: 1. Better scouting at all levels 2.Better coaching on an individual basis. 3. Cutting the cord on prospects more quickly 4.Expose players to all aspects of physical play and mental approach, much more quickly.

    The difference between the Twins and let's say, several other MLB teams: Falvey walks around the concourse and the fans nod, high five him, or whatever. On another team, Falvey never leaves his private booth or even goes to the game,

    Include in that perspective the difference between minor and major league pitching and defense. Consider it's not like comparing apples to apples and oranges to oranges. consider the overall line-ups and how these hitters are positioned. I never liked comparisons like these, because they are skewed according to a variety of environments and conditions.

    Yes, today. But how about over the next 3 months? And on a much more consistent basis. Are you counting on playing at .500 and then winning the last couple of games of the season to win the division title? Cleveland and Chicago have yet to play to their potential. If they do, we might need a cushion.

    I don't know how you talk about the Twins and not make it sound like Baldelli is severely lacking in leading this team.

    Baseball has a way, for the best (divisionally or league-wise) finishing at the top, most of the time. That's the intrigue of a 162 game schedule. Streaks, winning ones or losing ones, skew our perceptions and expectations. After the last Milwaukee game, we were world beaters in some people's minds. After this Detroit loss, we're scum. The point is, IMO, that most seasons are like a roller coaster, in performance and emotions. We need to let this play out a bit more. However, part of the attraction of baseball, is it provides an opportunity for us to ride this roller coaster and experience all of its ups, downs, twists and turns. So, if you're passionate about this game or a specific team, you're going to look at small sections of a season and critique, accordingly. That's the beauty of it. You can be right one day and wrong the next in your assessments. Let's tolerate the assessments. Let them be a reflection of one's passion for the game.

    I would only edit the first sentence of Dr Gast's post. ."Reggie Jackson was known as Mr. October because he was so so during the season but turned it on whenever the bright lights came on". So-so?

    Until ownership includes wins and losses as part of a success formula, nothing is going to change. Fans measure success in terms of the standings, while ownership/FO looks at the bottom line $. If we could work a compromise, I ultimately feel we can achieve both. More wins equals more revenue. More revenue should increase the payroll enough to bring in high quality players. Our product is entertainment, not widget production.
