    The bullpen is bad yes, terrible in fact. Except for one guy who is one of the biggest weapons in the whole AL, That said, 0-5 all of them arse whippings.

    My guess is the market isn't going to be a 7-10-year deal like this guy is writing. 4-5 more years will get him I think. It'll cost, but I am pretty sure the Twins will make a competitive offer. This isn't Terry Ryan. I've been critical of these guys in the past, but they have some stones.

    Another thing. Give any of those 2 managers you just stated this roster and this weak AL Central and right now there is a pretty good chance they are up by 8-10 games. This roster has quite a darn bit of talent IMO. Honestly, you have 3 of the top 30-ish players in the game on this roster in Buxton, Correa and Polanco.

    Where did I say they outweigh the players or FO? I just said that you are looking for an edge in the playoffs and Rocco so far has just been a wet noodle when it comes to managing playoff games. In fact, in games that mean anything this year(against teams with winning records and Cleveland, he has been horrible) Also, all those guys you point to. Let's see their career playoff numbers. I also believe Rocco CAN be a positive for us, but right now, I see him as a liability when it comes right down to it. Pulling starters that are cruising is whatever during the regular season because it can save bullets on guys arms, etc., but when you are in the playoffs and have a guy doing well and you yank him after 5 to go to a bullpen that isn't great, that's on him 100%. I'll give an example Berrios cruising, game close. Put in Cody Stashak who is a bottom of the barrel guy then go to Taylor Rogers on back to back day. Dumb and exactly the kind of stuff a manager that HURTS, does. Win a game. Any damn game in the postseason and I might change my mind. So far though, his teams have been killed in every game he's managed in October.

    Yes. I am not being a 100% literal here for sure, but yes. Over the course of the year, talent will equal itself out. Teams with the most talent generally will win more games over the course of a season. In one series where the talent is similar, then you are looking for that edge. We don't have it here right now IMO. That doesn't mean it can't or won't happen, but I don't have a ton of faith yet anyway in the old Baldelli. Also, look around. Great managers win in the playoffs much more frequently than average to bad ones. Sometimes with multiple different teams.

    How many playoff wins? How many even competitive games in the playoffs? They've gotten spanked in every playoff game he has managed. That is all that matters to me. The front office is who is responsible for season records because over the course of 162 it is the players that make a team what it is or isn't.

    Seems like an overpay to me by a fair amount. Larnach and Balazovic maybe but that is as much as I think they would give up or even have to.

    I trust only Duran. No one else. Time for a trade or to bring up whatever bullets you have left in the minors. This group isn't getting it done.

    Don't expect anything from Maeda. I have seen that floated in here quite a bit. Not realistic. Most likely, if he pitches, it will be a few mop up innings when rosters expand to get him some work.

    I'm not sure anyone should go in favor of him. I said if he comes up, that is what I would like his role to be. Also, I just looked at the active and who is Mark Contreras? Guessing Sano is a better player than he is anyway.

    Mauer was a great, great player. One of the very best in Twins history. But what Puckett did in the postseason just automatically makes him the best. In fact, it makes him the very best player to ever put on a Twins uni, whether his numbers say it or not. He flat out just won them games in the postseason. His numbers in the postseason also dwarf Mauers. That and the game 6 homerun was the single biggest moment in Minnesota sports history and it's not close. Not only do I feel like he is the #1 player in Twins history, he is the #1 athlete in Minnesota in bold print with a bullet, a star and a sticker.

    Very odd. Not sure if his impact on the team is huge or not. These are ML players, most of them can watch video and make adjustments on their own. But it's never good for a team culture etc, when someone bails on them mid-season like this. Twins will find someone, or maybe the guy they are promoting will be good as well.

    I'm pretty much with you on this one. If he does come back, I think it is going to be because of an injury to someone else. If he is back here NOT because of that factor, I would like to see him as a bench bat/pinch hitter type. Give him a handful of at bats per week. If he is able to produce some, then maybe he gets more playing time. If he doesn't, then DFA.

    I honestly don't like this. For one, I don't think Montas is a top #1 or 2 type starter. For 2, it will cost a pile. If we are going to trade away top prospects for pitching, I want someone better OR more controllable than that guy. Get me a kid in their middle-late 20s that we will have some team control of, or find someone Verlander-ish that is an older former ace type that can maybe give you 1-2 stellar playoff starts. Under the radar names are fine. Giving up any top prospects for a name doesn't make sense to me unless they are a true hammer.

    This is where this FO makes their money. I'd like to see them go after one VERY good established reliever. Then for the other one, let's identify a guy that is maybe being used as a mop up man, or a 5th starter type that throws hard and has a good slider or cutter, basically a hammer secondary pitch. Someone that can't do much for 4-6 innings but with a little tweaking of his pitch sequence could be a really nice reliever. We have some of them on our roster right now IMO.

    In my opinion they are, that doesn't mean it's gospel. Usually teams don't get rid of a third of their rotation or make infield holes though when they are in first place.

    LOL. Exactly, if it isn't any good, then why is it relevant? Aaraez won't move. Maybe they will move Urshela and do full time over there with Miranda. But I just don't see stuff like you are saying relying on 2 prospects to fill 3B and trading away starting pitchers when you are a contending team. I've read your posts and lot of them are pretty good, mostly Pohlad pocket protector-ish, but usually well thought out. This line of trade scenarios, etc you suggested though don't make sense to me.

    Aarez at 3rd? Did you watch him there earlier? He was terrible there. He is at 1st and that is where he will stay with him hitting like he is, they are not going to mess with him. Steer, ok fine, but I'm not rolling with an unproven guy when I have someone that plays lights out defense over there in Urshela.

    You won't get anything for those three players. So, if you want to get them off the roster for the sake of freeing up spots on the 40 man, that is the only reason to do it. Dumping 2 pitchers that are as of right now in your starting rotation is also not very wise. Urshela might get you something, but he is exactly the kind of guy playoff teams have to be a utility man. He plays great defense and his bat isn't terrible. Unless the return for him is a fairly solid relief pitcher, I would hang onto him. Also, I am not ready to give 3B 100% to Miranda with no backup plan yet.

    And you might be right. I just think if you have a team that is playing well, you don't look a gift horse in the mouth. There is a chance the Twins go the next 2 seasons and don't make the playoffs. Then what? Back to dumping anyone that is any good and another rebuild. Strike when the iron is hot is always my mantra. Pitchers are especially flaky. Also, if Buxton is still healthy at the deadline with Correa(who won't be here next year), and Arraez hitting hotter than anyone in baseball, I think you have to take that chance. Think next year of Buxton at 70 games, zero from Correa and Araaez OPSing .725. It could happen very easily.

    If Austin Martin is worth anything anymore, he is the one I would move. Him + one other pitching prospect that grades as a #4-5 guy should be enough to get one of the better relief arms on the block IMO.

    Do you think the Twins will magically have a better lineup and/or rotation in a year, 2 years, 3 years, etc.? What "future" are you talking about? Are we supposed to just hold onto all these young hitters in case someone gets hurt? It's not fair to them to not be on a major league roster. We have a glut of them, move them for where we aren't strong. It only makes sense. Whether this "move" is for this year or into the future at some point, you have to make room or move guys that are major league ready.

    One prospect in the 75-150 range(MLB rank) and a throw in is what he is worth at the deadline. Maybe not even that. You aren't getting 5 studs back for him.

    It really won't matter until the manager starts letting ANY of the starters go more than 5 innings. This is all working now, but my money says this bullpen gets worn out around July/August and are going to be cannon fodder for the remainder...
