The Sox are a perpetual middling, underperforming team. They might have talent, but I would debate it's any better than what we have. If they have so much talent and are close to or in their primes, then why haven't we seen them do anything of note for how many years? They are stuck in the same type of rut the Twins are and I would argue they are a much worse run organization.

Common sense regarding Byron Buxton.

I would say: 1. YES 2. A fair amount 3. A whole season I really love Buxton, but there is just no simple answer with this guy. Give him time off, put him on IL, play him every day. Nothing seems to work to keep him healthy enough to produce like the stud he can be for more than 50-60 games a year. Honestly, at this point, it is up to him to get with someone and do what needs to be done to make and keep himself healthy for the grind of an entire season. He probably has and does do this, but I don't think doctoring frequently and taking his training or whatever it takes to keep him healthy to the next level should be out of the question. -

I like this post. Berrios has talent. You can see it when he throws. His stuff is undeniable. It hasn't changed. Command it and he gets back to where he was. I didn't mind the trade but don't like getting back guys that aren't really even talked about for our Ace. I still think having him on top of our rotation this year would be fun. But then of course they probably don't go out and get Gray. Ends up honestly working like a trade of Berrios(26yo) for a season and a half and Petty for Gray(32yo) for 2 years(and less money)and two kids Toronto gave us. Those 2 kids have to work out(at least one), to make that a good trade. Otherwise, and as it stands, IMO it looks closer to bust than success(as of right now anyway). -
How many wins - All-Star Break Edition

This is hard to answer. Are they the team that has hammered the ball at times, thrown the ball well and played great defense? Or are they the team whose bats go quiet, pitching gets rocked and the defense makes mistakes. We need to get guys healthy. I feel like if they do that and can add a couple pieces, this is still a 90-ish win team. -
Is there a home for Gio Urshela?

Miranda is having a nice season, but like any guy that just comes up, most likely will regress some next year. Having a guy like Urshella is not only beneficial to this year, but next as well. I would hold onto him unless he can bring back a nice reliever. Having to add a piece to any deal with him to get that reliever back isn't good either. I would rather they used a better prospect and moved someone like Sano as a throw in, rather than Urshela. -
This kid might be a stud. He has been better than I thought he would be. Takes professional at bats, and a walk if they don't feed him. When they talk to him, it sounds like he is a student of the game/hitting. Love it, keep it going young man!

It was decent in theory, one year of a nice reliever for a starter that is young and controllable and another reliever that throws mid 90s, but when we find out the starter they traded for was broken and basically a #5-6-7 type starter, then it looks worse. Also, Pagan is a negative to this team IMO.

I kind of agree, but when you have traded 2 of your very best, I think it is bordering on that air being a little too thin. I like the guys they got for Pressley, they both are major league caliber type players. The other trade with Rogers seems to not have worked, but I do understand with both they probably weren't going to re-sign them. Maybe it's bad luck, but I think if they and their manager and going to go with a pitching philosophy that intends on using lots of arms and only getting 5-6 out of their starters, then I think building their bullpen should be more of a focus rather than a throw darts kind of operation. That said, if they didn't think they were going to compete both this year and the year after they traded Pressly, then I can see where they are coming from as well. Either way, man it has been hard to watch lately!!

Neither has done a thing yet. Both have been average in the minor leagues. I just don't think you can grade it at all yet, let alone declare the Twins winners of this trade. The only thing that is a saving grace SO FAR of this trade is the fact that Berrios hasn't been very good this season. Remember, he was under contract with the Twins this year for a very paltry number. We still could have dealt him at the deadline this year, or just let him walk. Either way, you can't say we won anything when the guys we got back have basically been about average so far and haven't sniffed the major leagues, yet. Can they? Will they? Maybe - probably, then we can figure this out. I also saw something where we say these guys are young for their level. Remember, Berrios debuted in the show when he was 22. His talent far exceeded either of the players we got back for him... Not a win or a loss yet IMO.

What's the chances he actually comes back? I have heard this kind of talk from the Twins before right before someone gets shut down for the year.

Then why grab Correa? I think they knew they had a lot of young in the rotation and wanted someone else to bolster it. I also think they feel like they can build a bullpen out of thin air as they have tried to do it each and every year they have been here. Pressley too, remember?

Less bad is leading by 4 games instead of 2 right now. No more Rocco. Ask Buxton what he wants to do or whoever is sitting on the bench next to him. Take his keys away, he is drunk.

I agree no good options, other than letting your starter get a few more outs. Or possibly another one of your relievers that has been somewhat reliable. Bringing in Pagan also, come on. I'd have just as soon one of the position players threw that inning. Pagan is done, cooked, shot. Everyone can see it expect Rocky.

Here's the reason. Correa. He's here now and producing at a high level. Next year it's probably a better than 75% chance he isn't here. Buxton is healthy(so far). All of your young bats seem to be producing. That said, I don't think taking a shotgun blast with all of our top prospects is prudent either, I would target one really, really solid bullpen arm, yep that may cost something decent. Then another bullpen arm that may be some sort of project, former starter, etc. I honestly don't think going after a starting pitcher of high caliber will be worth it unless it is the type of #1-2 ish guy that we can have control of for a few years. If they can identify and pull off that sort of trade, I would be for using some heavy prospects for. That said, I don't want to go hard after a rental starting pitcher that will cost a pile, not worth it IMO. If they are going to trade for a rental type starter, trade for a guy that won't cost you much in prospect value, but that can eat some productive innings whether that be as a starter, or a long man to backup guys like Bundy or Archer.

I'd prefer we didn't give him a huge drawn out super multi-year deal. If it takes us adding another year to his deal that is worth even 50 million or upping even the next two years remaining to a number like that I think it is far preferable than having him here until he is 40 years old. That said, I would hate to see him go, he is magic with the glove and a great hitter for a SS. Work with him on something but just let him know we aren't going to give you 10 years or 300-400 million bucks. Man it even sounds stupid saying that number.

Use his starting pitchers. He knows that his bullpen sucks. Guess a few guys are gonna have to pitch 100-110 pitches. It's simple. I have 5 good ballplayers on my basketball team but my bench is terrible. Those 5 are gonna have to play most the minutes or we are gonna lose. You are 100% right though about the FO. They haven't given him much to work with and they are going to have to bail themselves out of this mess and quick or this season will go into a tailspin.

Well, that was fun last night. You know what is a good idea? Bringing in the reliever that has been hammered the most the last 2 weeks and has particularly struggled against a certain team in what amounts to a pretty darn important game. Again, Rocco blew it. This team should have a huge lead in the Central, yet here we are, actually have more losses and up 2 games. Cleveland has a pile of games in hand on us. It's really, really disappointing to have a team that is actually pretty darn good here that should have a comfortable lead right now sitting in the position we are simply because their bullpen is terrible, but their manager continues to use them way more than he should.

Because all the dummie teams already have shortstops. Big market teams. Also, the amount of SS out there for sale. Maybe he will, and maybe I am just being more hopeful than anything. I just don't think that those humongous deals are going to dominate much anymore. I'm probably wrong and like I said just hoping more than anything, but 10 year deals are extremely lobsided against the teams that give them about 99% of the time.

And honestly, you would you thought he learned his lesson after that Houston series. But I see the exact same approach all year long this year. Rely extremely heavily on a very bad bullpen. It has cost us games this year. Quite a few of them actually. When you know your bullpen is your weakness, what are you doing using them so much???

My point is he is bad managing a pitching staff. Maeda, cruising through 5, zero runs given up, with a lead. Sitting at like 90 pitches after a 1,2,3 inning. Yanks him and lets the bullpen blow the game. 100% manager right there. You don't need an all-star manager to win those decisions. You need any fat guy sitting in left field drinking a beer to tell you keep your horse in there when you have to fall back onto donkeys.

They do not have even close to the lineup the Twins have. You realize we have a top 3 player in baseball and also another one that is probably top 15. Buxton, Correa, Aarez, Polanco. Name a foursome that is better offensively. I don't know that there is one. Also, 2 of those guys will win gold gloves this year.

Not trying to argue, but this is a loser's mentality and attitude. Don't say good enough. We play some of the worst schedule in MLB. Win more, achieve more, go for broke. PS we have played more games than any team in the American league as well.
