    Here's the thing. If the Twins get towards the deadline and are looking like a lock for the playoffs, why would they dump Correa for more pitching? We have tons of prospects that can and should get moved if this is the case. I would prefer using those prospects to go after #1-an arm we can control for a bit and #2, the very best reliever available. If the team is in a playoff position when the deadline comes and they move him, the whole team will quit and you can forget long term deals for any youngsters you have and need or want to extend that are on the squad right now and will have options when their time comes.

    This has been the case for almost every Twins team that has made the playoffs in the last how many years. I think this is a good club and if things break their way they might make some noise. That said, I am not expecting more than a division title.

    If by that you mean do I think Rocco is in over his head managing his bullpen? Then yes. And if you meant that I think we have a team full of guys that will do well vs. poor pitching in our division and bottom feeding teams but not against the #1-2 starters of the contenders, then yes...

    I think we will win the division. Or that is my hope. We might have to get lucky though, I think Rocco is going to burn up this bullpen. Once we get to the playoffs, we have Buxton, Correa, Polanco and Duran, heck let's add Joe Ryan. Those 5 are as good as anyone in the league. The rest will have to play out of their minds.

    Paddack is young still. He was a top 35 prospect in all of baseball coming up. Look at his minor league numbers, he was a stud. He is better than anything we have in the minors. I like this trade. Hate losing Rogers, but if we weren't going to pay him after this season, then it was a good move. He should scoop up innings for 3 years in a 3-5 role. Hopefully by then, we will have established a better top of the rotation through trade or whatever.

    Having your 2 most important defensive positions filled by perpetual all stars in Buxton and Correa makes this team worth watching for sure. I didn't think there was any way we could get this guy, so I will give the front office credit. Thought it was going to take more years to get him. The opt outs suck, he basically is here on a 1-year deal, but either way it's neat having the Twins be the team to land him.

    Donaldson - yep. Don't act like Cruz wasn't 40 something and not a real hot item when we got him, he was also a one year deal.

    Hicks is hurt alot too. He had 2 good years in NY. The only thing I am sad about when it comes to Hicks is that the Twins didn't trade him when he was a prospect and his value was high and instead traded him for a poor catcher after his value was in the tank. But I agree, the whole scenario surrounding him was disappointing as it pertains to the Twins.

    Their plan isn't any different than Terry Ryan's plan. Let's be honest. It is the Pohlad's plan. Be decent enough to get fans to come out so you can make some money. Use your system if you can to make up the majority of your roster(all teams do this) and then fill in with guys that are old, cheap, or hurt and hope for career years out of them.

    Heck yeah I don't like drafting corner players hardly at all unless their bat is elite. 3B is one thing but the rest of the corner positions are usually manned by former C, SS, and CF that couldn't hack it. Athleticism wins out most of the time.

    Buxton is must see baseball that is for sure. He reminds me of when Johan used to take the mound. You stopped what you were doing to watch because at any time something spectacular might happen. Finally he has figured it out. Now lets hope he stays healthy.

    That's right guys, Bobby Cellphone. Whoever it was, it was something taught in the Twins organization to Johan that made him dominant. In fact, I would argue that changeup may be one of the best ever changeups in the history of the game. Man was that fun to watch him throw.

    You are actually right. I mis-spoke. Basically I meant trading away our talent because we can't afford them. Lots of examples of that. I mean this organization has traded away 2 Cy Young winners the year they held the award for christmas sake.

    2 really high picks on this list from the Wunderkids front office. Not good. Let's hope they can turn it around.

    No, Pavano and Hughes were #3/4 guys their entire careers. It isn't their fault the Twins penciled them in as #1's. Even at their best they weren't aces. And pitchers getting hurt in their 30's probably isn't all that uncommon. Ryan spotted potential? I am not sure. But I do know that getting a guy in the rule 5 that turns out to be as good as Santana was is a fantastic move. And yes, I am pretty sure Rick Anderson deserves a fair amount of praise for that changeup.

    Of course. They have a history of signing guys then trading them off. Not many players want to move twice in 2-3 years and they have also shown to not really care about building a winning team. I don't think it has a ton to do about the cold, I really don't. I think it has to do with their lack of winning and the feel around the league that ownership is cheap and doesn't care if they win or not.

    This is happening all on its own. Baseball is dying and here they are fighting about it. Silly. If this lockout extends for a long period, my guess is that you will see baseball become hockey. Instead of trying to engage more fans and make their product more easily accessible on TV, they are fighting about who needs more money. They are cutting their nose off to spite their face.

    Johan Santana was definitely an ACE. He was the definition of it. The rest of that bunch they got what they should have.

    It's not that they can't, it's that they won't. They will get one in the ribs should they do this consistently. Stupid IMO, but that has to be the reason. Even slow guys can get base hits with good bunts against some of these extreme shifts.

    Petty. 100 mph at his age is extremely rare. Develop the kid, lets go guys.

    NCAA fastpitch softball starts soon. Hopefully we see more of it on TV this year with baseball being the babies they are. It's a better game anyway. Try it once, I bet you like it.

    I agree other than Dobnak. I'd rather they just let another young guy in there. Also, this is the same thing that's been said for years and years here. "Let's see what we have". We never know because we don't ever develop guys and only sign washups to fill rotation spots. Hell, other teams have gotten more out of Twins prospects that we let go than guys we have kept the last few years.

    I'll be honest, I have zero faith the Twins even know what they are doing when it comes to infielders. They have done nothing but a terrible job with them since Tom Kelly left here. If you have a damn athlete with a strong arm and soft hands, then its up to you to make them a SS.

    I think we will see Joe Ryan emerge even more this year. I liked what I saw from him. He seems to have "it". I have more faith in him than almost any other pitcher in our organization right now. Plus Tampa raised him, so there's that.

    Baseball already on life support and we have this going on. This could be one of the final nails in the coffin. Soon it may be close to hockey with it being a niche sport not highly supported throughout the country. Both sides need to do what's best for the game, whatever that may be and get the season started on time.
