    I think if you were going to go with Shaw, you should have just coughed up whatever it took to keep Cron here on a 1-year deal. That is, unless his hand is really not healing.

    I get it, but it the history of this organization is to offer up deals like that they know won't be accepted. If Wheeler takes 110 and they offer 100, it won't be good enough and just another token offer. To be honest, he should be signed by us already. Quit postering and get a deal done.

    Pretty bold statement to say that a guy that finished in the top 10 of MVP voting 2 years running with an average OPS of about .850 and 30 bombs a year will be outhit by a couple of guys that are still in the minors. If they are that damn good, then we are in for a real treat. And they would also be able to net us guys in trades that could anchor our starting pitching staff right now today. As it is, it would take both of them in a trade to net us a #3 starter.

    Yes, but the offer could also be looked at as not competitve. He signed for more than that. To me, that's the old "we tried" offer. They knew he would get more and didn't lay out what it took to get him. Wheeler probably signs for 5/110. Twins will probably offer 4/75.

    Losing Buxton hurt their defense. That is all. Offensively they were just as good if not better without him in the lineup. Against playoff caliber pitching, he is also mostly a black hole offensively. Pineda really killed them and to me, this was the biggest what if of the season. He was pitching extremely well at the time of his suspension, to be honest, he was likely our best starter going into the playoffs. Not bringing in a starter hurt them and was also extremely predictable. I have never in my years of being a Twins fan seen the front office take a high reward risk. Shouldn't have even been Stroman, they should have countered an offer including one of Lewis, Graterol or Kiriloff and brought in Syndergaard. Then we'd also be sitting here with Syndergaard, Berrios, Ordorizzi, likely FA(Bumgartner/Wheeler) and likely Pineda. Imagine the confidence you would have going into this season with that rotation.

    LOL Don't trade prospects, don't sign Free Agents. In Carl's ghost we trust. I'm done with it. If they don't spend at least 100 million on starting pitching this year, it's a massive failure. You want Ryu? Fine, bring him in here along with Wheeler or Bumgartner. I've got no problem with that and it should also be more than possible. We aren't the little engine that could anymore. This team is filled with a roster full of boppers and athleticism that is young. It's time to go for it. Sign the studs or trade for them. Our fanbase deserves it, as well as the entire roster that has more than proven their worth.

    Going to a winning team and organization doesn't hurt. The Mets are the bad news bears of the NL east. Granted the Twins have had some stretches too, but they are in the middle of a competitive stretch with young, excitable players that play good defense, can run, athletic, etc.

    Then prepare for another 1st round sweep should they make the playoffs. Who cares if the Pohlads have to spend some money. We will have assets that are easy to move should the plan bomb out the next year or 2 in order to recoup some of the money invested. Gutless thinking will not get it done.

    Yuck, puke, gag. I don't want any part of any of these guys. What a Pohlad like move any of these guys would be. If you are going to try a new 3B, get yourself someone that is good or great. Don't bring in a guy that is only a slightly better defender, but much worse bat. Makes no sense. If you think Sano can play a good 3B and you are able to sign Donaldson, Moose, or Rendon, fine. Anyone else and I don't think it is worth the dropoff offensively to save maybe 2-3 runs a season.

    Yes, I agree. There should be about zero worry about Polanco at the plate. Just watching how he takes at bats is enough to tell me any dropoff probably won't be very significant. The guy can hit.

    I don't trust them to spend any savings though, do you? When has it ever happened? They want a 3B, get the best one available. Same with pitching, get the best one available that is realistic.

    I also have a problem with the value to the team aspect. This guy was a rock in the lineup. His OBP was really good, makes good contact and takes tough at bats. He also plays the hardest position on the diamond and didn't miss any time. On top of that, he isn't being paid as much as he is worth. To me, this guy is a starter for as long as he is a Twin. If they have to move him to 2b, fine, go ahead and do so. I'm also of the belief he is just entering his prime. He's 25 years old. Even if he loses a few points off his slugging percentage, he is still among the better hitting middle infielders in the game.

    Donaldson's worst years are simlar to Moose's average to better seasons. He's a better player. That said, Moose is younger, cheaper and wouldn't have to worry about anything in the locker room. Also, neither of these are "must" moves IMO. Get the pitching taken care of and if you want to improve infield defense, I think moving Polanco to 2B or 3B might make more sense and bring in a glove first SS. Also, moving Sano out of his position didn't work out to great last time did it? Unless your plan is to move him, you might be better off leaving him at 3B.

    If that figure there is correct, the Twins should have had him signed by now. I doubt it is. I'm not sure who the Twins should sign this offseason. I'd honestly be happy with any of the top 4 guys. Any will improve this rotation and team. They have to actually do it though. No more lip service, no more "we tried", no more losing out because you sat around too long, no more cheapness. Get something done and don't be left standing at the buffet table after all the meat and potatoes are gone.

    I can agree with some of what this article states. However, it's my opinion that all of these trades are "meh". There was little risk involved in any of them. Yes, they might have been good, they might have been bad. But there weren't really felt either way just because both the returns, and the people they gave up, weren't much to begin with. That list of prospects you name there for example. Yes, those guys look decent, but most likely they end up being fringy 25 man roster guys. None of those prospects rate out as being anything special. There is a reason they were traded to us in the first place. That said, most of them were had for rental players on our part, so it is not like we gave up a ton to get them. The real test for this FO to me anyway, is signing pitching or making trades for it this offseason. All of the moves they have done so far both in trades and FA signings are low risk moves. This year will not be that way, if in fact they do what they say they want to and that is to add impact pitching.

    Yep, I think you are looking over 20 mil a year no matter what. Probably 5/110 would be the best deal we could hope for.

    He looked like an amazing hitter last year. His plate discipline is fantastic. That said, this year, I am almost certain teams will attack him early in the count. Make him swing early and often. IMO, that is the best way to pitch this guy. We will see how he adjusts. Those batted ball stats though show that he can handle himself. Let us hope he continues as he has. Great top of the order bat.

    I honestly was pretty excited when the Twins traded for Ordorizzi. I thought he was good in Tampa. To be honest, I am surprised we were able to get him for as little as we did. That said, I don't think the Twins "fixed" him at all. He is pretty much the same pitcher he has been all his life.A #3-4 starter that doesn't last long in game. They did however get him to cut down on the HR given up.

    True. I'm not saying don't go after a guy like Boyd. What I am saying is that if you are finally making your big push by using the highest level prospects you are willing to give up, don't waste them on a guy like Boyd. Aim higher. Kind of like when the Twins trade Wilson Ramos for Matt Capps. Just felt like a waste of one of your better prospects for a guy as underwhelming as Capps was when Ramos could have probably been packaged up with someone to bring in a much more talented player. He surely could be on the upswing though and I could be wrong. Also, like I already said, if we would be able to get him for a price that the future of the club wouldn't be affected by, I am all for it.

    My only deal with this is the actual pitcher himself. Boyd. I don't think he is that great. He had a career year as far as strikeouts go. You put up numbers to compare like this but you only do it for a season. Anyone can have one good season better than another. Consistency. That is what you are looking for IMO. This article makes it seem as if Boyd is a better pitcher than Syndergaard. A look back through their stats for multiple years and an "eye test" look of the type of stuff they have will show that a Syndergaard is a far superior pitcher to Boyd. That said, getting him in here on a trade for some mid or lower level prospects, I'm all for it.

    My only question to ask is that if the Twins feel that Boyd would be a good trade target this offseason, why didn't they go after him at the deadline last year when they were in line for a playoff run? What makes you think they will let go of those prospects now when they wouldn't when we needed them to?

    Also BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Trade away half your starting lineup for who exactly? Start 3 rookies that haven't even hit AA or AAA pitching yet. Increase your strikeouts, errors and HRs, and decrease your OBP, SLG, defensive range, and veteran prescense. Hmmmm?

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Not an impact bat! Rosario is a much better player than he is. This is a net loss of the nth degree here. Plus you are giving up one of, if not your best pitching prospect for him! Heck no.

    Use other avenues. Don't dump a guy like Berrios. Look to your top propsects. Both of their positions are filled with guys that are young and producing. I'm with you on adding high end pitching, but I think moving Berrios for it would be a mistake. Heck, I think he is young enough yet that we have not seen the best he has to offer yet. That and to be honest, take a look around the league. Berrios rates in the top 10 of most starting pitching categories already.

    This would be a great way to turn a 101 win team that is a contender, into a team fighting to get to 80 wins. Don't play this game. Don't let the Twins way get to you. Why would you want to get rid of young starting players on your team when this core is primed to win now? Hate to break it to you, but take that top 10 prospect list and there is maybe 1-2 that turn out better than anyone on your starting 9 right now. I have never seen fans of a team that is in the middle of their competitive window clamor so much to trade players from their starting lineup. It has to be the Pohlad beating that our fans have taken for so many years that cause this. So far we have heard people wanting to move Rosario, Berrios, Kepler, Polanco, and now even Cruz. I just don't understand it. We should be adding to this core, not subtracting from it. The only way I move a starter from my lineup is if it is a package that involves a #1-2 starter. That's it.
