  1. Not sure how you can call Kepler "unlucky" when he's only had 1.5 seasons of good baseball in his career. If France is similar, it's a waste of a roster spot.
  2. Constantly bringing in washed up players to maintain a "floor" which takes away playing time from the young players you have in your system does nothing to help those young players reach a "ceiling". If the young players aren't good enough to be everyday players then you have already failed at the FO level and you should be replaced by someone who can actually "raise the floor".
  3. Point on with Bader. Rocco has proven to play his veterans at every point. It doesn't matter who is in front of them on the depth chart or how bad that veteran is playing. Rocco will OVER-use him. I'd be willing to bet that the very first game this year the Twins face a starting Lefty Pitcher, he will be starting over Larnach or Wallner..... unless Buck is hurt already which might be even more likely.
  4. Rocco may not have as many options this year but that doesn't mean he'll abandoned the idea or even tone it back a little. Mentally he doesn't have what it takes to be a Manager. Anyone who can't figure out how to avoid scheduled off-days for Correa and Buxton when they fall on the same day by simply adjusting one of them 1 day in either direction, when he is the one who sets the schedule, doesn't seem to be very intelligent.
  5. You left out one aspect that will also likely make him the wrong player.... and that is HOW Rocco will use him. If it's ONLY as a ''backup'' CFer to Buxton then .... not a problem. But if it's also as a Righty hitter taking at bats away consistantly from Larnach and Wallner then it's a problem. And we all know, with how Rocco loves his reverse splits, what is going to happen.
  6. Those are some pretty safe buyout increases based on Buxtons history of being injured, which is every season and Roccos love to platoon at every wim. Bader or his agent were pretty smart to use plate appearances as the option. I was hoping the added money would be based on performance such as batting average or on base percentage. Nope, now he can be as awful as usual and still make extra money just for being there. Another bonehead move by the FO.
  7. Another laughable weak hitter who can play some defense. Which means he should only be a late inning replacement when the Twins have the lead. How will he be used? With Rocco it'll be every chance he gets against a lefty, plus time in CF to spell Buck, and since he's a veteran he'll take valuable at bats away from the youngsters that need playing time, which means WAY to often. Some day the Twins will realize that the problem for needing this type of player is BUXTON and this problem will only go away when Buxton is gone.
  8. Alcala will be good if Rocco uses him correctly. Making him more than a 1 inning pitcher, which Rocco did multiple times last year, is what messed him up. All Stewart has done is proven he can't stay healthy and Topa has 1 year in the majors. That 1 year was decent but everyone knows you can't judge a pitcher or player by 1 good season. Which the so called experts are doing with him. He wasn't very effective for the Twins in 2024 was he? We can argue that Sands is also unproven. He had a good 2024. How many seasons did he have before that, that can be considered good? Zero. Jax and Duran are very possibly at the top of their game. Both could regress.......... a lot. The best bullpen in baseball is only on paper. Rocco loves his paper analytics. Now will he use his bullpen correctly? I doubt it.
  9. Outside of Duran, Jax, Alcala, and Sands, every other pitcher mentioned in this article either hasn't proven to be anything other than an average replacement level pitcher or a AAA pitcher that hasn't figured it out yet. Add in Brock Stewart not being able to stay on the field and Topa only having 1 season too.. Looks to me like there is plenty of room for Coloumbe. Do you guys even analyze what the Twins have before you write an article with all the fluff?
  10. Yeah, just what the Twins need...... Another injury prone player with defensive liabilities and 1 partial season of success. Why on earth would anyone trade a starting pitcher (Ryan or Ober) that is a solid part of your rotation or your 2 best relievers (Jax and Duran) for another Hope and a Prayer type player? It would be totally different if he had 2 seasons of being a good hitter and fielder but he doesn't even have 1. It would be totally different if the Twins had Festa, Matthews and any other AAA pitcher you want to name that they KNEW they could count on to replace the traded pitcher or if they WERE the traded pitcher. Yes Falvey is known for his stunning blockbuster moves that bring in injured or washed up players that turn into mush. Please stop the rediculousness.
  11. You should never use the word "break" in an article with Buxton. Just saying.
  12. Totally agree with T.O. on this one. Rocco wants most everyone on the field to play multiple positions so he can platoon to death. Somewhere, somehow he thinks he has an advantage being able to move players all over in the field and use different lineups everyday never allowing his players to get comfortable with a position or a hitting situation. Then everyone else wonders why the Twins are so bad defensively or can't hit at critical times. George Brett once said, being comfortable is the most important aspect when it comes to hitting and fielding, and you only get that by getting consistant playing time at 1 position and a consistant everyday lineup. By Rocco doing the opposite, and whatever advantage he thinks he gets by platooning, it falls short of Bretts advantage on a regular basis.
  13. I tend to look at this off-season as a success. Falvey didn't bring in washed up veterans to take playing time away from the young players that are already on the team. The saying usually goes, "addition by subtraction", and less washed up veterans makes for a solid addition.
  14. I'm pretty sure Correa was "ready to go" last year too. Health in January, February and March doesn't mean anything when April, May, June, July, August, September and October gets here. I really think the regulars need to be rested during all of spring training and then Rocco needs to give them more rest for at least 4 games a week during the season to keep them healthy. Even with a schedule like that Buxton will hurt himself getting out of bed or tying on his shoes at some point during the season.
  15. The biggest difference is that the big money teams or "elites" as you like to call them, can buy that proven player and teams like the Twins have to bank on a player having a career year or the Hope and a Prayer method. Back in 1991 the Twins went and got a guy named Jack Morris who carried the team to a Championship. Now, not only can they NOT afford to acquire someone like that, as the big market teams gobble them up, but the way theprices on all the other players get raised by what they do, makes it even harder for the rest of the teams to even be able to afford the average players. Something has to be done or eventually we'll have about 6 or 8 teams that will be the REAL major leagues and the rest of them will all be AAAA teams with no hope to ever reach a World Series.
  16. I've been thinking their competitive window is just a year or two away for a long time now. Then after the season is over I think the same thing again. I've since come to the conclusion that it will never get here with the likes of Falvey, Rocco and Company running the team. Ownership hasn't helped either. Bringing in washed up veterans like Gallo and Margot and injured pieces like Mahle and DeSlafani continually year after year do nothing to improve the team and ONLY push things down the road another year. It's time to try a different method and that is to let the young guys play and develop so you actually know what you have for the next season, and the season after that and so on. The older I get, every year that goes by, I sense I'll never see another Twins World Series Championship. Baseball needs to level the playing field amongst ALL the teams so the big market teams can't spend millions and millions more than small market teams. Or maybe I just need to be glad I witnessed the '87 and '91 teams because it will never happen again in my lifetime.
  17. Just the other day I thought.......... It has been a while since we had an article about the great Byron Buxton. Bingo! No worries with Bat Speed for Buck. It means nothing when you are injured....... which is the majority of the time. Next article please........
  18. Like most Twins players he is a "Hope and a Prayer". You Hope he is good enough to play at the major league level and Pray it is good enough to keep him there.
  19. If the Twins are going to trade their best player then they need a bigger return than what you propose, unless you are of the faith in dumpster diving like the "organizations lofty standards" have brought in lately. I don't need to name names. Some of the sarcasm here is really funny.
  20. Irony = If the best LHRP out of the bullpen for high leverage situations is Theilbar 2024 then the Twins are better off without that LHRP.
  21. The amount wasted on DeSclafani (correct spelling) is peanuts to Correa money.
  22. At this point in the off-season, with all of the uncertainty regarding the sale of the Twins, who the buyer will be, and what the future may hold, the last thing on my mind is what Carlos Correa is thinking. One thing I'm sure of is that he has a smile on his face every time he checks his bank balance. Which raises one question.... How many decent players have the Twins had to turn away from because they gave him a huge contract, leaving them with no money to improve other areas of the roster? Worst amount of dollars spent on any player they have ever acquired. Ever.
  23. Once again, another article trying to justify taking a chance on an unproven commodity. He sounds too much like a pitcher the Twins are already paying, for nothing. Dobnak 2.0. No!
