Why? It's really quite simple........ Because nothing significant changed. Same FO making the same type of FA aquisitions that don't improve the team. Same Manager making the same analytical moves that haven't proven to work on any type of consistant basis. Same team leaders getting the majority of the payroll are expected to carry the team and have shown that they have never been able to do so on a consistant basis. Same thing, let's try again, same thing, let's try again, same thing, let's try again. Insanity! Nothing will change until we have new OWNERS, FRONT OFFICE, MANAGER, COACHES, TEAM LEADERS. ALL OF THEM HAVE TO CHANGE. Not just 1 or 2.......... ALL OF THEM.

The Twins announced they have acquired infielder Jonah Bride in a trade with the Marlins. Minnesota is sending cash considerations to Miami in exchange for Bride. Bride, 29, is in his fourth season of major league play. He is currently 4-for-40 at the plate this season with 15 strikeouts in 45 plate appearances. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin native was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Tuesday. It appears, with his 4 for 40 at the plate with 15 strikeouts, that he'll fit right in here in Twinsville.

Rocco Baldelli and the Case of the Missing Lever
rv78 replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Maybe it's time to put Correa and Buck on the bench and let Lee and Keirsey have some playing time at SS and CF. It couldn't be any worse and it wouldn't hurt for Correa and Buck to feel the lever too.- 59 replies

Arraez may not be hitting his usual .300+ but he's still 100 points higher than Buck or C4. As for defense, the Twins DH spot isn't tied down either or the brainless wizard setting the lineup everyday wouldn't be putting a Mickey Gasper there.

Last 2 wins came with either Buxton or Correa sitting on the bench. Today they both play and promptly go a combined 0 fer 8. Good thing for them and unfortunately for us they are supposed superstars or they be next in line to be DFA'd. Maybe they'd wave their no trade clauses and we could trade them both for one Luis Arraez. then we'd at least have 1 player that could hit.

Twins 5, Tigers 1: Rome Wasn't Built in a Day

Umm Correa didn't play. Maybe it's his fault. Last win was Wednesday and that day Buxton didn't play. I see a pattern developing here.- 39 replies

The Twins Need Bats. The Future of Free Agency is Dim.
rv78 replied to Peter Labuza's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The 2 biggest problems are Buxton and Correa. They are locked in thru 2028. When you spend 1/3 of your payroll on 2 players and neither one of them can hit consistantly or even play consistantly you've got a mess. You can look at it 2 ways: 1. If they both were consitantly productive and provided consistant playing time then you really need to doubledown and spend even more money to bring in a couple more studs to put you over the top. The Twins fail to do that every off-season bringing in washed up floor type players that never make them any better. We've seen it for years now and this season won't be any different. It's the same failed recipe that ends up burning. 2. Since neither one really can produce consistantly and have proven to be injury prone, they are a detriment to any rebuilding process right now because of their no trade clauses. Get them to waive that part and then you trade for new young players that actually can play every day and are capable of hitting consistantly. Rebulding with them is difficult, without them it'd be a whole lot easier.- 61 replies

Every time I see a picture of Derek Falvey I think of one thing. He looks like a doofus. He always has a stupid grin on his face like he knows he's buffaloed the Pohlads into thinking he actually knows what he is doing. So far, he hasn't proven me wrong.

Royals 2, Twins 1: Twins Plead No Defense in Kansas City
rv78 replied to Steven Trefz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Hard NOT to blame Rocco when he doesn't hold his players accountable for NOT running hard to first base every time. The difference between winning and losing close games can boil down to hustle. Bobby Witt just proved that. Do you think Rocco was watching? Even if he was, nothing will change. He's just a poor manager.- 116 replies

3 Signs Byron Buxton Is Finally Healthy
rv78 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
So far in 10 games, the availability of Buxton hasn't helped the team. Unless you think a .189 batting average and an on base percentage of .231 are some pretty special numbers. It's hard to fathom that the numbers from Correa are even worse. Is it any wonder no one wants to buy this team when $52 Million is being paid to these two over-rated duds. -
This really boils down to one thing. Poor managing. If the Twins were 6-3 instead of 3-6 you could say this strategy is working, but it clearly isn't. They are averaging almost 5 pitchers used every game. Anyone with half a brain knows that isn't sustainable. Even in the 1 game where they only used 2 pitchers Rocco failed. Starting Ober when he was physically drained from the flu was a poor decision. The guy who bailed him out that day, Dobnak, isn't even on the roster. The decision not to keep a long reliever or two on the roster and use them as such when needed is stupidity. This FO and Rocco can't leave soon enough. Enjoy the show, kool-aid drinkers.

4 Early Season Worries That May Not Matter For the Twins
rv78 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Correa is a problem. He's never been a consistant hitter and is NOT one of the games best offensive players. Take away his defense and he's barely above average. He's supposedly the "Leader" of the Team but plays like he's just there to collect his paycheck. Cheaters make for bad leaders because good leaders know it not right to cheat. Throw in a Manager who let's him be the way he is and you just compound the problem across the entire roster. You hit the nail on the head when you said leaders lead by example. When he is making millions more than others on the roster why would anyone else hustle more than he does. Thus lackadaisacal play which we have seen ever since he has arrived. This team will never reach the ultimate gaol with him as a Leader or Rocco as a Manager. Neither one has what it takes to Lead.- 13 replies

Twins 0, White Sox 9: Everything Stinks on the South Side
rv78 replied to Nate Palmer's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Totally disagree. What makes you think Rocco hasn't already scheduled off days for the 2 players, that get babied more than any others on this team, if there was 15 straight days? Which there isn't. What they need when they are floundering like they are is, at bats. I haven't ever seen a player get better or get back in a groove by sitting on the bench. I think they are getting PAID TO PLAY, not ride the pine. -
Twins 0, White Sox 9: Everything Stinks on the South Side
rv78 replied to Nate Palmer's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
One pathetic performance followed by another. Tell me, what message do you send your players when you pull the 2 superstars in the lineup after 3 innings? I know everyone here who drinks the kool-aid is going to say it was done so they didn't get hurt in a blowout but....... The White Sox can score 9 runs in the first 3 innings but I don't think we can score 9 in the last 6 innings. That shows no confidence in your players. Neither Correa nor Buck have done anything hit-wise to this point. Wouldn't the extra at bats help? Or will they get out of their funk by sitting on the bench? Please fire Rocco ASAP. -

Been saying it for years... Rocco is the problem. The players are showing the same enthusiasm for the game as he does. None. They play with no confidence, he gives them none. Batting Wallner leadoff when he has shown to be a slow starter in the spring is as much of an idiot move as it can get. Pitching Ober today when he had at least 2 other options in Paddack and Woods-Richardson shows his level of intelligence, None. It just amazes me how anyone so inept at making smart decisions can keep his job as a Manager. The only way things will get better for this team is if we get new Owners to start, then new Front Office personnel, and a new Manager. The only way that will happen is if they totally stink up the season. It started at the end of last season and we're off to a good start this season. Sorry, but that's what I'm hoping for because, again, it's the only way things will change for the better.

The Twins, in particular, are betting on the possibility that Bader’s offensive struggles might be addressed with additional adjustments and coaching. His Baseball Savant page has more blue than a Smurf family reunion. For now, his defensive impact remains the calling card. The organization seems comfortable with this tradeoff, especially given the increasing emphasis on analytics that favors defensive metrics and versatility. And we all know how many Championships the emphasis on analytics have brought us. LOL! If Bader is used as a defensive replacement and ONLY as a defensive replacement then he is worth having on the team. If he is used as a platoon bat against left-handed pitchers on a regular basis over Larnach or Wallner then nothing is gained. And we all know how Rocco manages. I sense a Margot 2.0.

Counting on Stewart to be an integral part of the bullpen is as smart as expecting Buxton to play 162 games in CF. His 34.1 Innings in 2017 is the most he's ever thrown in his career and his 6 year average in the majors is about 25. It amazes me how the Twins continually count on players year after year that they can't count on. Then wonder why they can't compete at a higher level and expect the fans to support a broken system that they role out every year.

A 4th place finish last season wasn't expected either and that's exactly where they ended up. They did nothing to improve the team this off-season. It's not inconceivable to finish in the same spot. Before the regular season has even started their players are dropping like flies. Good luck!
