    I'm not a fan of Correa or the contract he was given. I think he is over-rated when you look beyond his defense. That being said, the only way signing him was NOT a mistake is if they keep adding QUALITY players that make the team better. In the last 2 seasons since he was signed they've added 1 quality player, Pablo Lopez. Sorry, but that is NOT being committed. If they are really serious about becoming a perrenial playoff contender, which they said was their "goal" it's going to take more. Either their hands are tied by the owners, or Falvey doesn't know what he is doing, or both. At this point, we won't really find out unless NEW owners are willing to spend the money to accomplish that goal. Otherwise it is a waste of time and money.

    Unless you are having a fire sale, you don't trade Ryan or Ober. If you are rebuilding or even just trying to improve incrementally, you build around them. Neither one is expensive. Both have potential for more upside and unless you find a cheaper option elsewhere that is just as good with MORE upside, losing either one would be a step backwards. Anymore foolish ideas?

    The past has proven this FO doesn't act but instead reacts. Letting other teams dictate your moves based on what THEY do isn't going to make you a "contender" but instead a "pretender". Why would anyone who KNOWS what they need to become better wait for the leftovers, if you were really truely committed to building a consistantly competitive playoff caliber team? Their strategy this off-season won't change and it'll be another year of waiting for scraps. If they even bother to go after them. The only player that they could move to make room for improvements would be Correa and he won't be traded unless he's on board with it and a new buyer is too. They really made a big boo-boo doo-doo signing him. If you aren't going to commit to spending long-term to get better then you don't sign a player for multiple seasons for $30+M per year. To put it mildly, that's Major Brain Fog.

    Trying to make baseball like other sports is just dumb and this idea goes way too far. If they really want to improve the game, do 2 things. 1.Start with payroll and make all teams stay between minimum and maximum limits. 2.Add a red light on the scoreboard. When the home-plate ump calls a pitch wrong, the red light comes on and the call gets reversed. It's simple, fair, and requires him to still do his job.

    If I'm not mistaken, the list only goes back to 1990 when Baseball America started ranking prospects. Correct? Is that the "dawn of prospect histroy" as the article implies? You confuse many readers when you say "Minnesota Twins History" in your headline but don't take into account all Minnesota Twins in history. You also imply, "In the Target Field era". Which era are you covering? Sorry to say, but that is just sloppy journalism.

    I don't understand the perception that every prospective Twins hitter has to have "power". The most frequent criticism leveled at Jenkins’ profile thus far in his pro career has been a lack of power production, Let's allow the hitter to be the type of hitter they are instead of making or even expecting all of them to be Home Run hitters. There's nothing wrong with being a hitter that hits into the gaps for singles and doubles and an occasional home run as long as they are productive. I'll take another Joe Mauer over a Miguel Sano.

    Unfortunately that is the type of player that most of the young Twins are. Is Julien a good 2nd baseman? No. Is Miranda a good 3rd baseman? No. Kirilloff wasn't good at 1st or OF. Lewis isn't good enough to play SS and hasn't impressed at 3rd. He won't play 2nd. Looks like another guy at DH. How about Martin? Not good enough to play 2nd. Doesn't have the range or arm to play outfield. Larnach and Wallner are not great outfielders. Seeing a pattern here? Maybe part of the problem is trying to make them something they are not. That's another Falvine and Rocco mistake.

    this looks like a sturdy bullpen foundation. If things break right, this should be a very solid bullpen with a narrow path of being one of the best in baseball. We were told last year that it WAS the best in baseball. I once again LOL.

    "This department is being put into place by the Falvey-led administration to make sure there never needs to be right-sizing of their payroll ever again." It sounds like they feel they made a mistake increasing payroll in 2023, and since they had to downsize in 2024 they want to avoid that same scenario from happening again. So I take it then, this means they aren't going to spend additional payroll to "go for it" when the opportunity presents itself. Or in other words, they are going to continue to be cheap dumpster divers and hope the fans are too stupid to notice. UH, FYI..... that's not going to work.

    Wallner is getting close. he's basically had 1 full season in the 3 years he's played at the major league level. I would argue that is not a "proven" major leaguer when it takes you 3 years to get to 160 games played. 64 innings for Festa with an ERA close to 5 and Mathews ERA above 6 don't do it for me. They've proven nothing. The article says, "viable big league starters" of which they are not.... yet.

    Totally agree with bean5302 on this one. Of the 6 players you mentioned, only Ober has proven to be a viable major league starter. Wallner is getting there. Would be there or could be there if given consistant playing time. The other 4 not close. The growth from within is not impressive. Commitment to player health is very much in doubt with the number of injuries we see every year and data-driven-decision-making, which is a 4 word term for analytics, hasn't helped this team win anything significant. Internal options for depth and flexibility help keep costs down but it doesn't guarantee winning. I would also question if this team is really "competitive" like we have been led to believe. They seem to be more like "pretenders" not "contenders".

    They are when you look at the number of Championships Correa has and will bring to Minnesota. 4 years from now it will still be zero. Just saying.

    On the contrary. It "means" a lot when you aren't even a winning ballclub when your most expensive player is actually playing. I will add that the Twins were 42-43 in Correa’s 85 starts. Then they were 40-37 without him. Yep, he's really important. LOL!

    If neither Correa or Buxton aren't worth a top prospect then neither are worth what the Twins are paying them. Which I have touted all along for the past 3 years. There are a lot of posters here who think they are superstars worth every penny. Funny how the Twins and a lot of the fans think they are the best players on the team yet you say they aren't worth a top prospect or two in trade. Guess according to you then, it goes to show how bad this team really is.

    That's kind of the reason why he left after his first tenure with the Twins. 3rd place team in 2022 and he flew the coup looking for greener pastures. He'd likely do it again, especially knowing there is little chance for 2025 to be much better than 2024 was.

    When you said Milwaukee needed starting pitching and the Twins wanted to shed some salary I first thought of Paddack. No way I trade Ryan or Ober for Perkins and some other player. Paddack would make a whole lot more sense.

    I'm not improving the 2025 team. This team is going no where in 2025. I'm improving the team in 2026 or 2027 and beyond. Trading Correa and Buxton for top prospects to add to the young core already here or coming shortly makes the team better long term. Adding a top young arm and a top young SS, or 1B is where I'm looking. No reason why the Twins can't find a good young SS to add to the team and replace him with if Lee isn't good enough. Doesn't appear Keaschall or Culpepper will be good enough either at SS. The Astros did it. The Twins need to go that route as well. Buxtons replacement is in the minors already. E-Rod or Jenkins. It's a perfect time to go young at SS as well and find another good arm for the rotation.

    IMO Correa only delivered in his first season (2022) with the Twins, not first 2 seasons as you implied. 2023 was horrendous at the plate to a .230BA, .312 OBP and a league leading 30 GIDPs. He's been FAR from what the Twins were hoping and PAYING for. If the Yankees or Mets come calling and he's on board with either team, I trade for all I can get. Outside of 1 playoff series win he's brought nothing and the 1 year window they had hoped for with Lopez, Gray and Ryan is over. Limited Payroll has changed their whole approach and now they're caught stuck with a big contract and no way of improving the team anymore from the outside. It's time to commit to the young core coming up and see what they have. A total rebuild is NOT necessary if they get rid of the part-time dead wood that is holding this team back. Both Correa and Buxton need to go.

    And while Correa’s deal remains in its early years, it has the potential to anchor the lineup if he can stay on the field. It has more of a potential to hinder any improvement to the roster now and through the later years.

    The team is slow for one reason. The FO went whole hog on the HomeRun theory. You don't need speed to trot around the bases after a dinger. Take a look at the prospects that are now on the major league roster. They've tried to make everyone of them a HomeRun hitter. Even Austin Martin, who struggle with the attempt and finally went back to his former ways of just trying to make good contact. When you draft for power, develop for power and ignore speed and defense you end up with the 2024 Twins. Then throw in the lack of confidence by the manager to play players everyday and let them get comfortable playing 1 position you get the 2024 Twins. With a 13 man position player roster, you don't need players to move around. You need 8 guys that can each play 1 position and only 5 that can sub off the bench. A backup catcher, 1 corner utility player, 1 middle infield utility player and 2 bench players for the outfield with 1 of the 5 covering the DH spot unless one of the main 8 fills in there to get a day off in the field. The Twins have a luxury in Castro who can play both infield and outfield. Rocco pretty much uses his players opposite of what he should, moving players into spots they aren't use to playing. Up and down the lineup only to satisfy his analytical matchup that is only good until the opposing team counters that with a different pitcher putting him at a disadvantage by having him pinch hitting too soon.

    Neither. I would take Player 2 if he would play 160 games at 2 WAR. And if he can't, I would find someone who could.
