  1. And the sad part is.... that fan will be just as good as the guy that Falvey goes dumpster diving after.
  2. There is always the chance that they don't turn into the type of players we want, hope for, been told they will become. That's the way it is with prospects. What we don't need are older washed up veterans blocking, first their chance to play, and second their playing time once they get here. Take Larnach for example. He's been in the majors for 5 years and it took until his 5th season before he got over 500 plate appearances in a season. In the 2021-2024 seasons he was platooned to the point of never getting consistant at bats due to the analytics of Falvey and Rocco. Does anyone really know if he has reached his peak as a MLB player? With his limited playing time it's very likely.... THEY STILL DON'T KNOW. When it takes 5 seasons plus, to find out what you have in a young player it puts you on the slow road to a championship that will likely never happen. Filling the roster with 1 year floor type veterans to keep your team at the status quo, (which is all they have done) hinders your development of your younger players. It gets you where they are today..... Hoping players like Lee, Lewis, Wallner, Larnach, Martin can become difference makers instead of already knowing by now if they are or are capable of being so. Sorry, it shouldn't take 5 seasons to find out what a player can do for you. Hrbek came up in 1981 and in 1982 he had almost 600 Plate Appearances at the age of 22. Gaetti was exactly the same. Brunansky started for the Angels in 1981 with 41 PA's and came over to the Twins and had 545 PA's for the Twins at age 21. Puckett in his rookie season got 583 PA's. If you want your young players to develop and find out what you have, you gotta let 'em play.
  3. Falvey doesn't do rebuilds. He builds perrenial contenders. That is what we were promised when he and Levine took over. A perrenial contender. In his 9 years, they have been to the playoffs 4 times. 3 of the 4 times was in the first 4 years of his tenure, Only 1 of those times has it been in the last 5 years. This pretty much proves the players leftover from the last regime were better than what he has brought in. When you take over a team and it gets worse instead of getting better you are failing at your job. The Pohlads don't care or Falvey would have been fired along with Rocco. These are the players Falvey brought into the organization since the start of the 2025 season in no particular order: Lovelady, McCaughan, Beede, Bride, Clemens, Wentz, Gillispie, Davis, Pereda, Hatch, Kriske, Cabrera, Bradley, Abel, Tait, Jimenez, Outman, Horn, Rojas, Roden, Mikulski, Mendez, Villoria, Armstrong, Gallagher, Lugo, Kreidler. Most are minor league fodder. 11 of them are 25 years old or older. The few that have already seen major league action have never been difference makers yet they will NEED to be if 2026 is not going to be another 90 loss season. So, I ask you, where is the improvement going to come from? Will Ryan, Lopez, Buxton, and Jeffers still be here in 2026? If not, this team could set the record for the most losses in a season. If 2 or 3 real difference makers are not brought in, this team won't be any better than last year and I don't expect the Pohlads to spend to make that happen and I don't expect Falvey to know how to do it even if the Pohlads would give him the green light.
  4. Totally agree with Kevin Sheehan post. If we get Shelton or Rowson we get Rocco 2.0 with Falvey still in control. If we get Servais or Flaherty we might get change, and I say might because Falvey will still try to impose his will into their decision making. I just feel Servais and Flaherty would be more likely to push back against Falvey.
  5. Thanks Steve J for that video. Brought back many memories. Makes you realize how inept the Twins teams are now compared to how they played back then. Correa had nothing over Gagne defensively. Watching Hrbek stretch for the throws was awesome. Twins haven't had a 1st Baseman like him since he played. Morneau was good but didn't play like Hrbek. Someone should show the Pohlads the crowds they had when they put a good product on the field and compare it to the miniscule crowds they have now. And then they wonder why the fans don't show up. The current team is a joke compared to those teams back in the late 80's and early 90's. Thanks Pohlads and Falvey. You have given us nothing.
  6. Trading Ryan for an established player or two will NOT save any money. If they trade him for a proven veteran or two it will probably cost them more money than what Ryan is getting. That alone makes the possibility of getting 1 or 2 proven big leaguers highly unlikely given the Pohlads desire to cut payroll. This means if a Ryan trade happens, it will be for prospects. If you think the Twins are going to roll out the cash register for 2026 and bring in difference makers you're a fool. Trading Pablo will save them even more money. I don't look for either one to be on the opening day roster despite Falvey publicly saying that he wasn't going to trade them.
  7. Based on overall performance while being a Twin: 1.Smalley 2.Cardenas 3.Versalles 4.Correa 5.Gagne Based on overall Value brought to the team: 1.Gagne 2.Versalles, 3.Smalley 4.Cardenas 5.Guzman
  8. Hoskins played a full season last year and hit .214 with 26 HR. This year he played about half a season and hit .237 with 12 HRs. If the Twins want to lose 90+ games again next year he's a perfect fit. Borderline acceptable. Can't hit for average with an occasional HR. I fail to see how this is an upgrade. Might as well move Wallner to 1st and bring up Jenkins to play in the outfield. 2026 is a lost season anyway. Good time for Wallner to learn 1st-base and to see how Jenkins handles MLB pitching. Plus Wallner and Jenkins won't cost 8-12 Million.
  9. If his defense is his calling card then leave his bat alone. We don't need another prospect being told to try to hit for more power like they tried with Martin. I'd be happy with a SS that can hit .260-.280 with 5-10 dingers, spray line drives into the gaps, and play excellent defense.
  10. It's not hard to understand when you look at the person in charge in the FO making the decisions. How many prospects that are considered shortstops has he drafted that can't play the position at a major league caliber level once they get to the majors? What is his infatuation with lefthanded hitting corner outfielders? Or any player he drafts or trades for that is a defensive liability. Guess what happens when all of the sudden they can't hit either? They become replacement level type players that no team can win on a consistant basis with. That is the current state of the Twins and Falvey constructed it. The next NEW Manager will have to be a magician to get the current players to hit better, field better and win games when it counts. Good Luck!
  11. If up the middle is the most important then the Twins have a long way to go. Didn't we have Correa and Buxton for a good chunk of the season and it still didn't matter. In reality, defensively they are pretty weak at every position on the field except in CF when Buxton isn't hurt. Put his injury history into the equation and CF still doesn't look very solid. The bigger problem is that outside of an unproven Keaschall and an injury prone Buxton, the offense is just as much of a nightmare as the defense is. It's going to take more than 2 or 3 different players playing better defensively AND offensively to turn this team around. Everyone wants Lee and Lewis and Martin and Jeffers and (insert any Twins players name here) to play better defensively. But that isn't going to score you anymore runs. Which one of the aforementioned is going to become better offensively too? Improving the defense alone isn't going to make enough of a difference by itself. Falvey has to stop going after guys that hit .150 to .200. For some reason he thinks they can turn them into star players. Sorry, you can't make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.
  12. I would go so far as saying he is the current "L"eader of the club. "C"aptain? Not so sure he is worthy. If Killebrew has been the only Captain and it takes credentials the likes of Killebrews to be named one, then Buxton isn't close. I don't deny his loyalty at this time but he should be loyal due to the Twins continuing to keep him through all of his seasons when he was a part-time player. I find it ironic that after he finally played in the 2nd highest number of games in his 11 year career, 126, (still not really a FULL season) that he is somehow worthy of anything other than a sigh of relief that he played as much as he did.
  13. The fact that a player like this is making news on this site says everything you need to know about the current state of this organization. Time to face the music. If Lee is the starting shortstop in 2026, Fitzgerald is the backup and behind him is this guy. then it's pretty crystal clear there's no hope for 2026 and if you are thinking differently, you're drinking too much Kool-Aid.
  14. Wallner career = .231BA .349OBP cost:league minimum Gallo career = ,194BA .319OBP cost:$11Million Not even close. Only an idiot would spend $11m on a player like Gallo when the younger Wallner forced him out of the lineup when given the chance. Keep defending those worthless veterans that Falvey brings in.
  15. You can have your Joey Gallo or Manuel Margot. I'd rather try a full season of Larnach or Wallner over them any day. Next year you can have your Roden and Outman. I'll try a full season of Martin or Jenkins over them any day.
  16. It's a position under a man who thinks he can do no wrong. Don't kid yourself, the message will be the same. Falvey just wants better results from the new guy than what he got from Baldelli. Afterall, according to Falvey, the only mistake he made was not having a Manager that could deliver the results he wanted with his baseball playing philosophy. So, who is going to get hired? Another YES man. And if he ends up being a NO man, he darn well better be a very successful NO man. I'm not sure Torii would be willing to be a YES man.
  17. Signing a Manager is not even close to being the same thing as signing Free Agents. There are too many former players that are coaching now and have never managed that would jump at the chance to take a Manager job. Much like Baldelli. Experience and proven ability as a former Manager means nothing to Falvey. He'll look for someone that will be another "yes man" to him and his ideas and we'll have Rocco 2.0. Falvey admits that he is responsible for the Twins failure. Used Rocco as the scapegoat to save his own butt. And will espect the new guy to have better results delivering his same message and style of play in his players. Nothing changes until the Pohlads and Falvey are gone.
  18. I was going to take the job, but managing under Falvey and reporting to Falvey isn't in my DNA so I'll be looking elsewhere. Says almost every worthwhile candidate out there.
  19. Since the firing of Rocco the Pohlads have mentioned that changes need to be made. Falvey has admitted that he has failed to deliver. Sounds like both are holding themselves somewhat accountable. Falvey has also said that he expects both Joe Ryan and Pablo Lopez to be pitching for the Twins in 2026. Will we see actual change? Will Falvey keep his word and keep Ryan and Lopez on the roster? Will the Pohlads spend when the time is right like they say or is it just more corporate BS? Only time will tell.
  20. Celebrate. 1 of 3 problems is gone.
  21. Dang it Whitey, you beat me to it. With Falvey in charge it doesn't matter. He'll pick a player that will shine in the minors and be a dull turd in the majors.
  22. Don't know if he was alive then but he is brain dead now.
  23. Laughable. It's not hard to see why they try to keep him away from doing interviews. If he thinks fans are going to continue to show up at Target Field on game day to watch the crap his FO has built, he is the one in for some real short-term pain. That 1.7 million attendance in 2025 will look pretty large compared to what 2026 will be.
  24. This may sound like the perfect excuse for failing but there are numerous examples of other ball clubs spending less, or at least similarly, and winning more. That's the part that he chooses to ignore because then it would directly reflect back at himself. Like I said, extending Rocco this summer, then firing him at the end of the season, shows he is bad at making "business" decisions. Not putting a winning product on the field regardless of payroll, (other clubs are doing it) are just poor "baseball" decisions. When a person is bad at both jobs why, as an owner of that business, would you have him doing 1 of those jobs much less 2? Because they don't care. When he says he is responsible and the Pohlads don't take action because of it, the Pohlads also fail. They don't care.
  25. The call is simple: Twins ownership must decide if Derek Falvey is going to run baseball or business If this is truly part of the problem, it just further escalates the fact that the Owners are disengaged with this organization and really don't care. In 9 years Falvey has made this team an unwatchable product. Admits he is responsible for it and the Pohlads not only don't hold him accountable, but have him doing 2 jobs. To save money is likely the only reason. Maybe since Falvey extended Rocco for the 2026 season and they have to pay his salary, they should have Falvey be the Manager as well and save any money it will take to hire his replacement. It has been widely speculated that Rocco was only doing what Falvey wanted anyway, so just put the man running the s**t show in Rocco's shoes on the field too. Extending Rocco was not only a business mistake but also a baseball mistake. He can't do either one. The baseball side isn’t winning, and the business side hasn’t found a way to keep fans engaged while they wait. Both engines are stalling, and the man in charge has spread himself too thin to fix either one Being spread too thin is one thing, being totally incapable is another.
