  1. Reading about these picks earlier today, I have to admit that I wasn't very excited. At first glance they seemed solid picks, but nothing spectacular. But after reading more about these players on TD I actually AM quite excited now. Definitely a lot of potential to be tapped with these four players. Hopefully, our coaches and "development process" will bring some positive results. Looking forward to Day 2.
  2. Another good post. Honestly, I had to look at the headline twice: Offerman played for the Twins? Man, I have zero memory of him playing for us. Then again, 2004 was a bit of a blur in my life as far as following baseball, so please excuse me!
  3. I've read about his injury a couple of times this week. What happened to him? He was one of those catching prospects that looked very good.
  4. Very interesting interview. Thanks for putting the time into writing it. Sure, Paddack has been inconsistent this season, and his performance the past few weeks has been very poor, but it still seems like he has the right attitude and still enough talent to turn things around. But I don't think it will be with the Twins.
  5. Good point. That makes a lot of sense. But I also love the idea of drafting a Skenes-like pitcher that the other teams dread batting against. Maybe no pitchers like that in this draft, but I'll still hope for that diamond in the rough.
  6. I hadn't even thought of such a thing happening, but sure, it's within the realm of possibility. But as Linus suggested, a 30/30 season might be more realistic, but then that would depend up those every-worrying health issues.
  7. Looks like an upgrade from Wentz, but hardly another impact move. That said, he could turn into a useful bullpen piece, especially if we end up trading an arm or two later this month.
  8. Another great report, Seth! As you noted, Marco Raya seems to be pitching with a lot more confidence, and his recent results back that up. Do you think the Twins will continue to be patient with him, and let him finish the season in AAA, or might he be a late season callup?
  9. We've talked about this before, and sure, it makes some sense on one level, especially if Jax still feels like he can take on that role. But doing it the middle of the season? No way.
  10. Yes, he seems to finally be picking up some much-needed hits. But it seems like after every game where he gets multiple hits, his next game is an 0-for. Here's hoping his recent (relatively) hot streak gets even hotter in the second half.
  11. Yep, that's the main reason that the Twins should trade him ASAP and get as much as they can for him. Great arm to have in the bullpen but his injury history is worrisome.
  12. Good question. We'll know more in a day or two in regards to how this bruise affects his hitting. But I agree; if there is any risk of further injury, he should skip both the HR derby and the ASG.
  13. The Twins manufactured three of their four runs Wednesday with aggressive baserunning. It was uncharacteristic, but welcome. Yes, that is a very welcome thing indeed. Could this be a new Twins trend? Aggressive baserunning, sacrifice bunts, stealing bases. More of this, please!
  14. True on the value part, but if the Twins are looking to get some legit prospects, they should think about dealing one of the relief pitchers or even Castro. I'mnot sure that Bader will bring back that much in return. But if the Twins don't see him as part of next year's team, then by all means get what you can for him.
  15. Well said, especially the "fun to watch" part. This team needs more players like that.
  16. Every year there are some extra (injury placement, etc.) picks, so Ryan could still sneak in. Sure, he's very deserving, but as you noted, so are several other pitchers this year.
  17. Jose Miranda connected for an astonishing 12-straight hits over three games between the Fourth of July and this date in 2024. Hard do believe that was only a year ago!
  18. Another informative report, thank you! I didn't know much about Bohorquez, but it sounds like he has an arm that will be very useful to the Twins. Reading Dman's post where he ranks him in the same company as Soto and Hill makes him sound even more intriguing. Great to see prospects like him making some strides.
  19. Nick Anderson had a few good years, albeit after he left the Twins organization. Heck, he's only 35, might he be interested in making another comeback?
  20. Joe Mauer was batting .391 on this date in 2006. How quickly we forget. What an amazing season that was for Joe.
  21. It's been a really terrific redemption season for Danny De Andrade. He was 19 when the Kernels season started in 2024. Less than two months into the season, he was injured and never returned. He hasn't played shortstop, but he has been really strong defensively at second base and third base. He also is tied for third in the Midwest League in Extra Base Hits with 30. He is top 10 in the league with 17 doubles and is tied for the league lead with six triples. Great to see that De Andrade has come back strong. Honestly, I had almost forgotten about him after his lengthy IL stint last season. He's still quite young, so the future seems bright.
  22. Jaylin Nowlen has given up zero earned runs over his past six appearances and 11 innings. That's a very encouraging stretch. How is his control lately? Has he been walking many batters?
  23. Exactly, Taking walks, bunting for hits ... and letting a relief pitcher who normally closes pitch 2 full innings. I love games like this one ... although it would more pleasurable to give up fewer runs.
