  1. And I want to see a list of who the Twins will have on their roster tomorrow!
  2. Like most everyone on this board I'm shocked by this HUGE flurry of trades. My head is still spinning, and I haven't even started drinking yet. But I'm also excited about a relatively clean slate for the Twins, although this new gaping hole in the bullpen is going to be a ... challenge. Anyway, it's time to promote some of these prospects and see what they can do. And as much as I hated to see Jax traded, I'm actually looking forward to Taj Bradley pitching for the Twins. I liked him with Tampa and I think he will still turn out to be a very solid part of the rotation.
  3. Well, it's only one game, but let's hope that Lee is indeed starting to turn things around. More games like today will be very welcome!
  4. Hey, the young pitchers will take their lumps. Call it growing pains. I was also a big Atlanta Braves fan growing up and recall these two young pitchers they called up one season, two guys named Glavine and Smoltz, and they got clobbered that first year. But then ... good things happened. Not saying that Ohl or someone like Festa will end up being nearly as good, but they should improve with time. We just have to be patient. And these next two months will require a LOT of patience!
  5. Or spelled Martha Stewart and cooking correctly!
  6. Definitely time to move Prielipp up, especially with the new vacancy in St. Paul. Hey, I know the injury history and innings limits, but the "kid" is now 24 and apparently healthy, and probably ready for a new challenge.
  7. With relievers like Coulombe and Stewart or even Topa that truly is a good question. Just because they are about to be free agents and the Twins aren't going anywhere this season, that should not preclude us from thinking about keeping those pitchers around for another season or two. Unlike the top tier arms like Duran and Jax, who also won't be free agents for a few more years, I don't think these other relievers on expiring contracts are going to get us much in return via trades.
  8. True, He certainly would not be the first player we traded away and then signed again later. I think we did that with Rick Aguilera once or even twice!
  9. I like those kinds of ideas. You are right, 2 months of Bader will not get us much of anyone substantial, but maybe we strike gold on reclamation project like you suggested. On the other side of the equation, we could keep Bader and re-sign him. He's been a fun and useful player to have and I would be more than happy to have him around next season too.
  10. I didn't realize he had been that bad either. I think the idea of a demotion is warranted.
  11. Prielipp progress. Very encouraging game for him! Also, a great roundup overall. These minor league reports are fun stuff after the discouraging results with our MLB team.
  12. I have to admit that I never saw the film, but after reading this very interesting article, I WANT to see it. Good fun piece!
  13. It seemed as if the Yankees would have been a good fit, but they just traded for Ahmed Rosario, so I don't think they will be going after Castro at this point.
  14. I'm not worried about the errant springs, but what about all those suspicious stains?!
  15. Poor Kepler, now batting a robust ,203 with an even .300 OBP. By comparison, another ex-Twin, Rob Refsnyder is batting .270//363 with the Red Sox.
  16. I love these Twins History articles. Thank you for posting this one! Kaat Homers While Pitching a Shutout Jim Kaat pitched a shutout and hit a three-run homer as the Twins swept a doubleheader in Cleveland on this date in 1963. Nimrod native Dick Stigman pitched a shutout in Game 1. A Twins pitcher has homered while pitching a shutout three times: Jim Perry did it in 1968, and Kitty did it a second time in 1970. I realize that good hitting pitchers are/were a rare thing, but I still miss that part of the game when pitchers HAD to bat in games. Sure, I know it defies all the stats and advanced metrics, but seeing guys like Jim Kaat hit home runs was pretty darn fun!
  17. I'm thinking the same way, Maybe "trust" is not the right word, but I'll still be quite surprised if they move one of the top relief pitchers (Duran or Jax, not Coloumbe) and get a significant return. At this point I think they really NEED to move one of those arms because it strikes me that some other team may indeed give us a good player or two in return, but with the Twins usual last-minute dithering at the trade deadline, I don't expect much to happen.
  18. Interesting news. I had not heard that about a possible Jeffers paternity leave. That will hurt us for sure. If Pereda is even satisfactory, that works in the short term. As you noted, they must have given up on Camargo, and not feeling very confident about Cartaya either.
  19. Camargo DFA?! That's a bit surprising considering our lack of catching depth at the high levels. I don't know anything about this catcher that they picked up from Oakland, so I hope he's more than adequate.
