  1. I'm still not ready to give up on Lewis, but his almost total lack of production this year is a huge concern. As you said of Wallner, Lewis also looks deflated. Correa is now gone, so it's time to step up or go away.
  2. If he isn't called up at some point next season I will be very disappointed. Granted, he's had health issues to deal with in the past few seasons, but at this point, it's time to take the kid's gloves off and see how he does at the higher levels.
  3. I actually thought that he would thrive in Detroit. Well, his first game with them was impressive, but since then he's reverted back to the Paddack that frustrated us so much.
  4. Another very informative and entertaining report, Seth. Thanks. And I'm old enough to remember the original "wild and crazy guys" routine on SNL back in the late 1970s. But hey, some very encouraging performances in the farm system again, especially from DeBarge and Salas. Keep on hoping that some of these guys will be keepers and make an impression at Target Field in the near future.
  5. Actually, I'm feeling a bit optimistic about next year already. Sure, lots of pieces to move and/or settle, plus that bullpen will be a big challenge to rebuild, but I don't feel all the doom and gloom that so many other are expressing. I think we needed to make some big changes, and the waves of trades last month was a start. We have a lot of exciting young players in the system and it's time to see what they can do on a bigger stage.
  6. Fully agree on that idea. Larnach and Wallner have had their chances and have pretty much underwhelmed. Bring up some of these youngsters and let them sink or swim.
  7. As did I. Not a name I knew either. But after checking his stats, he appears to be a player who .... strikes out a lot. Sure, he hasn't played many games yet, but doesn't look like a prospect.
  8. Well .... it will end when Brooks starts putting together a string of impressive games at bat and on the field. For every good game like today, he seems to follow it up with an 0-for-4 line the next day. At least let's wait until he gets his OBP over .300 before we declare him a star. I'm still a bit dubious.
  9. Hey, any and all news is appreciated. Thanks for that. You never know about these guys, plus he's a lefty, so maybe our expert coaches can find any untapped reservoirs of talent and unleash them!
  10. Every time I see a photo of Raya on TD he has the look of utter determination and fearlessness. Look at that scowl: he looks like he wants to mow down your grandmother! I hope that fierceness ultimately translates to better performances. Go get 'em, kid!
  11. Following the game will be a Dustin Lynch postgame concert, if you’re into that sort of thing. Admittedly, I'm an older man, but I'm also a big music fan and I have no idea who this person is! I'm not a fan of those post-games concerts in any event. I once went to a Braves game where the post-game show was the Beach Boys, and I couldn't even be bothered to stay for that.
  12. Frankly, I think that's a huge thing. As things are looking lately, it would seem that most free agents will NOT be looking at Minnesota as an attractive landing spot in the near future, but if players like Buxton can "sell" the team to others that is a good thing indeed.
  13. I'm quickly becoming a believer in this kid. I hope the Twins don't hesitate to move him up through the system quickly if his play warrants the promotion.
  14. DeBarge stole his 60th base of the season to hit an unheard of milestone for Twins prospects. Is that true? If so, congratulations are in order!
  15. Good point, I hope it works too. Whatever they are doing, I certainly hope they are just experimenting and trying new pitches or something that will make them more effective. I'm glad they are doing it now and not waiting until spring training to change their pitch mix or delivery.
  16. And please, let's keep Lopez and Ryan. I'm already tired of reading posts from people that "expect" that the Twins will trade one or both of those pitchers in the off-season. At this point, why? I don't think the Twins are far away from competing again and we need strong pitchers like Lopez and Ryan at the top of the rotation. And yes, hopefully guys like Abel or Matthews or even Taj Bradley will take the next step and give us a truly formidable rotation. It's well within the realm of possibility and I'm excited about that happening.
  17. Long name or not, Bohorquez is starting to look like a legit prospect. Good game for him, but very disappointed in the rocky outing by Taj Bradley. I expect much better from him.
  18. Good article. Rebuilding the Twins bullpen looks like a daunting task, but not something that will necessarily take two years. I don't see us signing any "top" free agents or making trades, so basically we will need to find some in-house arms that were being used as starters (Prielipp, Raya, Lewis, etc.) that may not be able to crack our starting rotation for a few years, if ever. And then we need to find some castoff arms that could be useful like we found in the past with pitchers such as Brock Stewart, Coloumbe, Megill, Littell, and Wisler. Not all-stars, but the arms are out there. Obviously, we are going to need to be creative, but I think this re-build can happen quicker than some think.
  19. It would also help not to play against the Yankees. Talent differential.... plus that darn curse.
  20. Well, we NEED to holding tryouts at this point. Better now than in March.
  21. I agree, Very interesting article. This adds a LOT to my knowledge and perception of Lewis as a third baseman. TD is a great source for increasing my knowledge about these sorts of fielding stats. Thank you!
  22. Not a bad idea at all at this point. We certainly need an infusion of strong arms in the bullpen and Prielipp seems like an ideal candidate.
