  1. Do we really need more of these nonsense articles? Enough already!
  2. I keep thinking about the coaches in general. We have pitching coach, a hitting coach, and I think assistants for both of those positions, plus a bench coach, the first base coach, third base coach, bullpen coach .... so, a lot of "voices" for the players to listen to, But how much do these coaches actually affect or help the players perform? In the case of the Twins, it appears we are getting very lackluster results from the "expertise" of our coaches.
  3. Castro has been terrific for the Twins the past two seasons, but I don't see any long range plan for us to keep him. If the Yankees, or any other team, value him and want to trade for him. don't even hesitate, just do it. But I hope the Twins get a good prospect or two in exchange.
  4. Yep, that's really about all of value we have to offer, at least without foolishly trading away a Ryan, Lopez, or Buxton. I imagine that at least one of those bullpen guys WILL be traded before the end of the month.
  5. Looks like he's been wandering out in the wilderness looking for a pack of chihauhuas for the past two years! Que lastima!
  6. Come on, we have to wait for the return of the Reds and Emilio Pagan!
  7. It's not an easy call. Wallner and Larnach certainly have a lot more power, but if Julien can hit like he's capable of doing (and like he has been doing the past few weeks, albeit in AAA), he could be a useful piece in the lineup again. But as you said before, he hasn't show the ability to stick at one position yet, so where does he ultimately play?
  8. It's sickening that athletes --- not to mention any people ---- are getting threats like this. But due to the scourge of social media and the current political climate, I imagine this sort of behavior will only become more common. A very sad sign of the times.
  9. That's true, but at least he could fill in as DH and hopefully provide more consistent at bats. This team needs to find a way to put more men on base ... more Twins on base, that is.
  10. He’s not a great shortstop—probably not even a good one—but he’s serviceable. His lack of range limits his ceiling as a defender at second and third base ... Hmm ... so I guess we now have to settle for serviceable when it comes to our defense. Not exactly a philosophy that inspires confidence. He's hitting well enough lately, but still a long way from contending for a batting crown.
  11. I noticed that Diego Cartaya was put on the Development List again, which I think is the second time in the past month. What's up with that? In any case, it's looking like he won't be a contender for a backup catching position.
  12. Julian continues his recent hot pace in AAA. Will he be rewarded with another trip across the river, or is our lineup already too potent without him?
  13. Well, obviously all the other teams are using their Cy Young candidates to dominate us in these games. But at some point the bats have to come to life ... right? right? maybe?
  14. I thought he was part of that Mariners trade too, unless there are multiple Gonzalez's out there and I'm more confused than usual.
  15. We need more of those types of players! But congratulations to Culpepper on the selection. Make us proud, young man!
  16. Great article, I knew a bit about Fedko but next to nothing about Klein and Chaney, so this was a very informative read, Fedko's power is impressive and the two pitchers look like they might be on the right trajectory. Seems like our minor league system is doing something right lately and that's encouraging.
  17. I had very high expectations for Ober this season, but obviously his performance has been very disappointing. What you suggested makes a lot of sense. Maybe some rest and/or a stay on the IL will be beneficial for both him and the Twins.
  18. To be fair, the Twins weren’t alone in missing on pitching that year. Top arms like Dillon Tate (4th overall) and Carson Fulmer (8th overall) also failed to meet expectations. That sums it up nicely. Even after all the analysis and projections, the baseball draft is truly a game of chance. We drafted a good arm but it didn't pan out. Let's do it again, but hopefully with better luck. And luck it often comes down to. I only hope that misses like that one don't prevent the Twins from taking the chance on more pitchers with upside. We still need those types of pitchers in the system.
  19. Not much to say. Another depressing loss, but we were facing one of the best pitchers in baseball, so at least it's not a total embarrassment. Still time to right this ship but I'm not very optimistic.
  20. Yes indeed, This is the Buxton we have been expecting (and hoping for) for several injury-plagued years already. Has he turned a corner and ripened at age 30? I only hope that it's only the beginning of a multi-year hot streak. We need sustained star power like he is showing this season.
  21. I was going to comment on that in the game thread ... but yes, that was a HUGE surprise. I wonder if he was told to try that bunt or was it his own idea? In either case, well done!
  22. DeBarge continues to impress. At this point he looks like a legit prospect, but once he reaches Minnesota where in the infield will he end up?
  23. Very interesting and helpful to read those observations of the players. Nothing beats those first-hand takes. Thank you!
  24. The double Culpepper highlights were fun stuff indeed, but I also loved seeing Austin Martin smack the homer. A great way to come back!
  25. Very true, I sit on the fence regarding Rocco. He does plenty of things that either puzzle or annoy me, but when you get down to what's wrong with this team, his managing performance is not the biggest issue. That said, when a team is floundering as badly as the Twins are this season, you really and truly need to make some changes, and getting a new manager should be one of the first things you do. Sure, the current ownership issue is a factor in this equation, but still ... it's time for a new guy as manager.
