  1. For me, this is a very important factor in developing another pennant winner, and possibly the key to another World Series appearance! Great nicknames are important!
  2. LHP Jaylen Nowlin was promoted up from Wichita to St. Paul Anyone else surprised by this promotion? I like Nowlin's potential, but he hasn't pitched that well in AA this season (ERA of 6.08). His strikeout numbers look good, but he's still walking a lot of batters too.
  3. Interesting analysis of what Woods-Richardson needs to do in order to get called back up. He's never been a starter that has gone more than five innings or so. I wonder if the Twins still think of him as a starter, or will he eventually transition to the bullpen?
  4. Even with all these moving parts on the team lately, mainly due to the rash of injuries, the move isn't that surprising, but I thought they might just move SWR to the bullpen and try him there instead. But hey, maybe another AAA stint will help him regain some effectiveness and confidence. No idea who gets to replace him in the rotation, but sounds like Zebby is the best choice.
  5. Very nice to see Paddack pitching well the past two games. This is the version I was hoping for the past two seasons. Let's just hope that this time it's for real!
  6. I checked his stats and he is indeed having a monster season at both levels he's played. Sure, the season is still very young, but this is a very encouraging level of play for Salas. But yeah, where does he ultimately play, or does he become the new Castro in the system?
  7. I was wondering about that too. I could have sworn that Tonkin had already started his rehab stint. Thanks for that explanation.
  8. Ha! That's almost a "what if" Twins All-Star team! Frankly, I'm amazed that most of those guys are still playing, but good for them! Never say never.
  9. I know the team is being careful with him but that was a shorter than usual outing for Prielipp. Seems like he was laboring over those 2 innings, but what was his pitch count at that point?
  10. An interesting and unexpected analysis. I only hope that this sudden increase in bat speed corelates to more hits and run production. Hey, maybe he's one of those late bloomers that only needed a chance with a new team. I'm not too excited yet, but he's getting some timely hits lately for sure.
  11. Worth watching is whether Harrison Bader, Ty France, or Baldelli compete in the contest. Huh? I know that Baldelli was sick for that game, but what's up with Bader and France?
  12. Good article, and very informative look at how effective his sinker has been this year. Always useful to learn more about the pitchers and their approach. I was puzzled when the Twins let Coulombe go a few years back, and then the Orioles picked him up and he performed very well. He always seemed to get things done, and this year that has been the case and more. One of those sneaky-good signings that has helped the team tremendously this season.
  13. I'm intrigued by Diaw's potential too, but I also don't know much about his defensive skills behind the plate. Nevertheless, we still need more catching depth, so I'll be following his season.
  14. Pope or not. that looked more like a football score! Absolutely brutal. Looks like the Rockies are trying to be worse than last year's White Sox.
  15. Well, that was a very brief return to Atlanta for Eddie!
  16. I didn't hate any of these three signings, but at the same time, none of them seemed "sexy" or looked like difference makers. But yeah, thus far this season those three players have been worth the money and more. Still a lot of season left to play, and most likely Coulombe gives up a run at some point (which eerily reminds me of last year's early season no-runs allowed pitcher, Josh Staumont), but you got to be satisfied with what these guys have done so far.
  17. Another good day on the farm. Fun to see E-Rod clicking both at bat and in the field, and that goes for Schobel too. Keep it up guys!
  18. That was a great, great play! And a nifty tag by Lewis helped too. Maybe that will help his confidence and he can start getting some hits again.
  19. I'm starting to think that too. He's done a decent job in the starting rotation this season and last. but when was the last time he even pitched 6 full innings?
  20. I'm an old school fan who is still a bit skeptical about some of the new analytics, but I'm also open to learning more about this stuff. That said, I'm still trying to understand the importance of things like exit velocity and launch angle. How much does that really matter?
  21. Why on earth would the Twins want to trade Joe Ryan? A trade proposal like this one doesn't make much sense to me.
