  1. The Minnesota Twins offense has been a bottom-five offense to start the season. Bottom line: it's been brutal. However, if you were expecting anything different, you might have been kidding yourself. (Don't worry; I'm guilty, too.) Brutal is the word. I also expected a lot more (okay, maybe a wee bit more) in the way of offensive production from this team. Sure, it's still early days, but the signs are not encouraging. We can't blame everything on cold weather or the lack of torpedo bats.
  2. I am too, and he is a player I knew nothing about previous to this article. Good stuff, Seth! As you wrote: A 20-year-old starting pitcher prospect who hits 95 with the fastball and has as many as five pitches with potential. That’s exciting. Man, that is VERY exciting indeed. This much-hyped pitching pipeline is looking better and better.
  3. Yes, more exciting games like the one from today (minus the Jax meltdown) and the Twins will suddenly be fun to watch again!
  4. Another fun player to watch this season, especially on the field, is Harrison Bader. He may end up being the best pickup from the off-season, although France is holding his own so far too.
  5. Yes indeed, plus Buxton seems more energized and playing with passion. Fun to watch. Just please please please keep him off the IL this season.
  6. Kyle DeBarge stole his eighth base of the season, the 3rd-most in the Midwest League. I hadn't realized that DeBarge had that much speed. Good to know.
  7. Very good article with plenty of insights into the development of Morris, He seems like the real deal, and like Cory said in the previous post, a pitcher who can be a mainstay in the rotation for a long time. Are we excited yet? You bet!
  8. Good roundup! But another request for articles this season: could we have captions with the photos, telling us who the player in the main photo is?
  9. After Ty France led off with a duck snort single ... I love that term! Here's hoping for more "duck snort singles" !
  10. Reading about his status, one article mentioned that he had been AL rookie of the year back in 2016. I had totally forgotten about that.
  11. I was wondering the same thing. Soto has a much bigger body than Raya, and maybe that translates to letting him pitch more innings. I also understand his his youth is a factor. But man oh man, what an arm!
  12. Not a new transaction, but noticed that Kyle Farmer is hitting very well up in Colorado thus far (yeah, I now, it's only mid-April): batting .375 with a .422 OBP. He seems to be getting lots of starts. Good for him!
  13. Yeah, I was a bit skeptical about Wallner as leadoff batter, but so far he has performed much better than I expected. That's not a bad OBP at all.
  14. True, but either he or his coaches need to teaching/emphasizing the basic fundamentals of fielding, running the bases, bunting, etc. Right now this team is looking like some sort of rookie league bunch.
  15. The DFA carousel continued on Saturday morning when RHP Scott Blewett was Designated for Assignment. As he has each time he has been called up to the Twins, he pitched well. He pitched 4 2/3 innings over two outings and gave up just one run, four hits, no walks, and he had five strikeouts. I hope some team like Miami picks up Blewett and he makes the All-Star team. Okay, I understand the business (logical?) aspect of these sorts of transactions, but it really annoys me to see players who have performed well end up getting dumped due to the numbers game.
  16. That pretty much says it. With half the team batting below the Mendoza line, Miranda may be only the first of several possible demotions or releases.
  17. “Stolen bases help you win,” Baldelli said. “But going first to third, having an aggressive mindset… that’s going to bring runs to the board, too.” Did Rocco actually say that ... or is it just hopeful thinking?
  18. Hoping for a quality SWR start tomorrow, but I honestly can't see him pitching more than 6 innings at the very most. Gassed they may be, but we are going to need someone in the bullpen to pitch a few innings.
  19. Ugh, with our luck that's when the Braves would start scoring runs again!
  20. As for the question at the end of the post, I think it's too soon to panic and start calling up Zebby or Festa or another bullpen arm. Let things run the course for another couple of weeks and then make some callups or demotions (maybe Paddack to the pen?) or make some adjustments. April 8 is not the time to sound the alarm.
