  1. The Minnesota Twins have had an interesting offseason... Sorry, you lost me with that first sentence.
  2. It seems like most of the infield is drowning in murk. Lots of of bodies and position flexibility, but the durability of many of these players remains a concern too.
  3. Yeah, Chargois has put up good numbers the past couple of years. Odd that he was only able to get a minor league due, but maybe there are still health concerns?
  4. Good point, Too many of the trades ideas that I read don't seem to factor that perspective into the equation.
  5. I love spring training! Bring it on!
  6. Martin was one of those high-draft prospects that oozed potential. But he's never really lived up to the hype and most people on this board are totally down on him. And as this graph shows, he does indeed have his flaws. So why haven't the Twins traded him away already? At this point, he doesn't see to serve much purpose on the team, especially if Castro is still around in another month.
  7. Hell, why not bring back Miguel Sano and let him man the first base bag! Sure, Castro is a handy and versatile player, but as others have already stated, putting him at first is not the best use of his skills nor is it best for the team. But the question DOES remain: just who is going to play first base this coming season? It seems like it a BIG hole that we haven't adequately filled yet, and sticking guys like Miranda or Julien there isn't really a long-term answer either.
  8. Actually, that was my first reaction too! That new hat still doesn't feel "Twins" to me.
  9. That is certainly one of those classic songs that NEVER gets old!
  10. Yep, could be an outfielder or two that gets traded this month. Just too many bodies and not enough playing time to go around.
  11. No way are the Twins the most improved team in the division. Even factoring in projections and WAR and whatever sort of metric you like, the Twins haven't done nearly enough to improve the team. I have somewhat high hopes that the Twins WILL be better this season, but that's only based on key players NOT going on the IL and perhaps some rookies making a positive impact at some point. But any expectations for improvement are not due to any moves that the front office has made thus far.
  12. More shortstops? No no no. And suggesting these two guys? I like the idea of thinking outside the box, but it's still a big no for me.
  13. I'm still not accustomed to seeing that new Twins "M" cap. Every time I see it, I do a double take, thinking: which team is this again?
  14. Good idea, but bad timing: The Dodgers traded him to the Cubs yesterday!
  15. That pretty much sums it up for me. By playing their usual waiting game, the Twins have lost out on any possibly impactful free agents. Sure, there are a few bargains out there, but why bother at this point. It's either make a trade or just use what we have in the system.
  16. I love reading these various opinions and ideas ... and I'm still not sure who should play where. So many interchangeable parts/players. But after reading all the posts my head is now spinning and I think it's time for another beer!
  17. Still waiting for the annual Sano sighting.
  18. Burleson struggled against same-handed pitching, slashing a neasky .195/.229/.286 over 142 plate appearances. On to more important matters, is neasky an actual word?
  19. Yep, it's only January, but it seems like the Dog Days are here already.
  20. Interesting article. As always, very informative. Bohorquez is not a player I had paid any attention to before, but now he's on my radar. I hope he becomes one of those prospects that excels beyond expectations. We need more of that with the Twins.
