  1. I don’t know which is more pleasing… Twins taking a big step closer to a spot in the postseason… or Francona’s Monday night strategy (travesty) failing. Our favorite club doubled my fun tonight.
  2. Even as of today, he’s really only played two seasons…and one was pretty bad. I doubted the bat. And I don’t want to draw conclusions on 220 MLB PA, but it sure is encouraging. He doesn’t look to be a ‘great’ on-base guy…looks more like an RBI guy. Not interested in working the count…hacking at the first thing he likes…and good at it (so far). He’s a 3-4-5 hitter in my book…depending upon how the BA/OBP capabilities play out. You need to put a good hitter behind him…or at least a big power threat. But, Puckett-like in his aggressiveness at the plate. Still think 3rd base is dumb.
  3. Great outcome. But there have been spectacular/unusual instances where the game has embarrassed itself some…and an unprepared Headrick cost a bullpen arm. So…very good result, but not at all pretty. Both are possible…like a very well played games that results in a loss.
  4. Way more pitches per batter retired than Fry.
  5. Failure can not be more total than that performance. Completely unprepared and completely awful. That kind of meltdown in ZERO leverage is career-shortening.
  6. At this point I’d tell Headrick he’s pitching until his arm falls off.
  7. It’s the kind of thing that compromises all statistics.
  8. It’s a sign of the times…bullpens are standing room only…but every single guy is built to go one inning. I hate it.
  9. Hate it. And with 7 or 8 relievers available…plus all the optioning and IL shenanigans…still need to pitch a position player in the 6th inning??
  10. Correa’s career BABiP headed into the season was about 315…this year it’s 266. Meanwhile, his average exit velo and hard-hit % are both HIGHER than last year when he put up a 137 OPS+. He’s basically one of two (Kepler) on the team who doesn’t strike out well above league average rate. He’s going to ground into DP’s…especially if he’s batting right behind the better OBP guys…but it won’t be 30+ probably ever again. It’s been one of those years for him offensively. Horrible. Should he have been moved down in the order more aggressively the way things have gone all year? Yep. But, that’s on Rocco. I’ll take Correa on my team, with the defense at a premium position…and wait for the worm to turn.
  11. How sick of the Twins must the Rangers and their fans be at this point?
  12. It’ll be close, but I don’t think he’ll make it. It’s likely Correa finishes as the only qualified batter on the team. Doesn’t that have to be a record of some sorta? Has there ever been a team that finished with zero?
  13. Correa is the teams leading batter…it’s an official fact.
  14. Sands for 3 innings of shutout ball would be great. Sands for 4+ innings, with 10 allowed also acceptable.
  15. Time for the baseball part of the organization to move on. The org should ensure that he is provided the best medical resources and advice possible, and let what comes after that be whatever it will be. But on the baseball side, in 2024 forward, they need to plan on filling a center field role and have a legitimate plan for DH. Anything short of that is inexcusable from the FO. If Buxton comes back and can help somewhere, fine. But to plan on it is foolish.
  16. Yep…Twins are going to have to finish above 500 it looks like 😉
  17. Rocco with the hot hand with the pinch-hitters. Nice win. Two very encouraging starts from Ryan. The time off seems to have served him well.
  18. Buxton’s rehab getting him ready to play CF: 7 innings in center, day off, then DH tonight (just K’d with the bases loaded on a pitch a foot outside.)
  19. Wouldn’t be surprising…what is driving it? Health? Just had enough?
  20. Kinda close…But even when teams matchup evenly most games are decided by the players. Yesterday’s outcome wasn’t impacted by the managers…and Francona hasn’t ‘managed’ the Twins into 0-9 RiSP tonight. If you ask me over a season…the answer is obvious…but over the next 5 (now 4 1/2) games, it’s unlikely to be an avalanche of difference in terms of outcomes.
  21. Lopez with a ‘quality’ start. Was unfathomable after the first 4 innings.
  22. I think I’d concur…Hou probably the least favorable matchup…at least out of the West.
  23. How is this game only 3-0? Cleveland with 7 hits through 4 innings, but 1-10 with RiSP
