    Personally…I can’t wait to see Emmy and Jenkins platooned. Rocco’s brilliant. Just think of what Barry Bonds numbers would have been if his managers had had the foresight to platoon him!

    With the amateur draft down to 20 rounds and the coinciding reduction in low level affiliated minor leagues, “undrafted free agent” and “independent league player” aren’t going to mean exactly what they used to mean. More guys like Eeles will be slipping through the cracks than used to be the case. Eeles might not end up being a major league player, but he’s light years ahead of a ton of 25-27 year old drafted guys currently playing AA and AAA ball.

    Based on his age and the results Eeles was posting, he has no business being anywhere below AAA. He was comically dominating in his short stint at A+….3 Ks and 11 BB. Now has basically the best BB/K ratio among any Saints player…along with a 417 OBP. IMO, him skipping AA was very deliberate. And it’s proven to be the right call.

    Wait. If ALL teams are experiencing a lot of injuries, how can the Twins still be scrapping for a 6 seed?

    Maybe it’s the 937 OPS against and 5.63 ERA in his last 8 appearances? Or it could be his 617 SLG against in his last 20 appearances? The 8 HRs allowed over his last 20 innings? Or it could be because his arm is tired and he has options? It sure is a head-scratcher, though.

    To be fair to Margot…his primary problem isn’t pinch-hitting. Just hitting.

    Seems early for Thielbar to be warming for a potential 13th inning.

    Do you think Rocco knows that he can pinch hit Correa there…and then put Margot in defensively after the half inning (and/or to pinch run)?? I’m not sure he does.

    Unfortunately, I think someone told this guy how to pitch to the Twins…Throw fastballs over the middle of the plate.

    Probably the team’s MVP this year, right? And, no.

    Cleveland’s pen…zero runs allowed in 7+ innings…using primarily their B-team. The best bullpen in baseball…2 runs allowed in 1+ innings…using their best reliever. That’s where these two clubs are right now. You can look at Cleveland and say they’re really not that good. The lineup sure doesn’t say powerhouse. But, they just PLAY BETTER BASEBALL than the Twins.

    During the entire decade of the 60’s (his prime) the HIGHEST K% Killebrew had was 21%….and he averaged a K rate of about 15%-16% during the decade. Walner’s K rate is a little over 100% higher. Not really a legitimate comparison at all.

    This club doesn’t belong in the playoffs…and, if they make it regardless, they’re out no matter who they play. This isn’t the same team they were through July. Not even close. It happens. Currently, this is a completely broken club, and nothing is going to change drastically enough in the next two weeks to make a big enough difference.

    Ever be watching one of those triathlon competitions where the clear leader starts cramping, vomiting, and losing bowel control with a quarter-mile to go? They’re done. It might take 10 minutes for the next competitor to show up and take the lead…but it doesn’t matter. They’re done. If nobody shows up? Still done.

    It’s a good crowd. A little late arriving…most around the bottom of the 7th.

    The K-rate has been nearly 33% even during the good months. Since he doesn’t take a ton of walks (even taking into account his high HBP rate), his value is extremely dependent on high HR% AND high BABiP. History tells us this is a tenuous path. Feast can turn to famine. In the meantime, it’s been feast. And I agree, at least in theory, that you can absorb a little more of the famine if you don’t already have a lineup littered with this profile.

    This may be the act of an emotionally and/or mentally ill person in danger…someone who desperately needs help. It may be the act of a psychopathic, selfish, —-hole. Time will tell. But, we’ll probably never know. And you release him either way.

    If this is true, they’re in deep trouble. They’ve won or split 3 of the last 7 series.
