    If you guaranteed me that the Twins would sweep all 4 games…I’d gladly accept a squeaker…even 2. True, they gotta actually start playing better for it to matter…but for now, just so desperate for W’s in numbers.

    The good news is many pitchers could post a 15 OPS+ if you had to use them.

    So, the question becomes…who thought Santana was signed to be a full-time 1B even WITH a healthy Kirilloff?…in the lineup every day against righties and lefties…and then still liked the signing? Anyone? I sure didn’t. And I would have hated the signing if I had expected that.

    Not that complicated, right? Rocco must really, really, REALLY, love Santana’s defense.

    I would say, that a guy who made $21M/yr…five years in the past…signs for $5M/yr in 2024…he probably expects a diminished role, as would be a reasonable expectation of the fans of that team.

    And? Players change roles as they get older, and performance ebbs. All the time. He also used to make $21M a year…the Twins got him for $5M…so, it’s not like the money he signed for precludes that role or would be a ‘surprise’. It’s pretty obvious that there weren’t many…if any…other clubs out there “promising” him a full time role.

    Yeah…I thought he was just intended to be insurance against Kirilloff’s health, which seemed reasonable given Kirilloff’s track record. I even speculated that it might be an indicator that Kirilloff was behind in his recovery. I didn’t see him being an every day player with Kirilloff functional…and I didn’t see him being THIS anemic with the bat in his hands.

    I don’t really think he’s changed his approach at all. I don’t think it’s anything more than teams game-planning him and making adjustments to how they pitch him. And he will be forced to figure things out. I’m sure he’s going to have to make some changes…but, I doubt that it’ll be a drastic change in approach. We’ll see.

    And to be fair…KC, DET, and CLE have all built their current records with the benefit of having played one, if not two, series already against this club. KC has won 3 games against +500 teams…CLE 6.

    I think the Sox are tanking the year. Robert and Jimenez are young enough to make it “work” if that’s the word to use…but if everyone is healthy, they’re still bad…but yes, not as embarrassingly bad.

    Not a good look for MLB IMHO, that you can have a lineup like the White Sox and a lineup like the Dodgers in the same league. The gap between best and worst keeps growing.

    Yes and no. Those teams don’t want to give up revenue from hosting the Yankees…and the media outlets don’t want fewer Yankees/Red Sox games (for instance)

    Schedules are still ‘unbalanced’. ALC gets 13 games against them…ALE, ALW get 6 or 7. Just not AS unbalanced as before.

    Just like the stock market…it won’t bounce until everyone has sold!

    Paddack has starts against Milwaukee, Dodgers, and Orioles. Kinda/sorta hung in against the first two…demolished by Baltimore.

    Some decent and good individual early results. Team-wise, not so much. Seems like the teams that are off to a decent start with the bats, have pitching staffs that are off to bad starts…and vice-versa. St Paul has been nothing short of horrendous with the bat in their hands. Exception: DeShawn Keirsey (although Will Holland and Anthony Prato have gotten off to solid starts, as well). Too bad Keirsey isn’t on the 40-man.
