  1. Will never understand why we they want to trade away the better players?
  2. WHY do we always get these types of choices. They all had great careers but way to far away from their prime. I suspect these types of last hope players are the only ones that would even consider signing with this team. How pathetic is this entire situation!!!!
  3. The article sounds like we are on the cusp of a team that will go far in the playoffs, just by tweaking a few positions. So much relying on health/injuries. They need an above average medical staff, one that knows how to prevent and one who knows how to rehab. Right now, I do not see a rosy picture! Pitching: I don't have a lot of faith in the pitching with mostly the unknowns (mostly health related). Additionally, they need an above average pitching coach. Catcher: Sanchez gave us the most games but has a .205 BA, Jeffers .208, Leon .179. Huge hole! DH: Need a true high average home run hitting DH 1st: Arraez for sure! 2nd: A healthy Polanco. Perhaps that is why his BA was .235 this season, if not another hole! SS: If they don't resign Correa they need Lewis to come back healthy or HUGE issue. 3rd: Urshela should be good. LF: Gordon has the most games and a decent BA. Need a backup better than Garlick and Cave if Larnach and Kiriloff don't come back healthy. Neither of these have showed the potential we expected. CF: A healthy Buxton who fields AND hits most games. RF: Neither Kepler or Wallner will do! Outfield Overall: Only Gordon has an BA above 250.
  4. Why would we want them to get rid of a batting champ? Do you really trust their ability to get at least an equal value?
  5. I thought the managers job was to set the line-ups? So what does “manager” mean in baseball? He should be managing everything including the medical staff, conditioning and their rehab. I agree he doesn’t have the final say in who the FO signs but he should be giving input.
  6. How about an above average stable line-up. We as fans need to know our team good or bad. Right now it is horrible and barely a recognizable name. Seems we get a good player or pitcher they are gone as quickly as we get them. Really the only players to get excited for this year were Arraz, Buxton and Correa. Arraz is so stable an likeable, Buxton is very likeable and so exciting when on the field and at bat. He was barely in the field (DH'd more games than I like) and we as fans didn't get a chance to know Correa and probably didn't get as excited because his time is most likely short lived. Baldelli changes the line-up based on stats. He will "rest" a hot player just based on the opposing teams pitcher. There is no accountability either. He runs sub-par players out all the time. I hate to pick on Kepler but he probably should have been a bench player and they should have found a right fielder that can hit as well as field. Plus he is just a little boring doesn't seem to have the fire he should. We are searching but unwilling to pay pitchers. We let Berrios go without a blink of an eye without replacing with a better or even an equal replacement. Yes he struggled but he has the fire most fans like to see. They are not very transparent or even in the fight for the top players. My gut feeling is no players in the prime of their career want to come here. Why would you want to go to a team that hasn't won a playoff game in 18 tries. Also it doesn't take a baseball genius to see a team that seems to look for re-treads instead of real MLB quality players. He also needs to look at his coaching and medical staff. Hard to get players from AAA to the MLB. As for injuries hard to blame him but they obviously don't have a good medical staff or trainers. Too many muscle strains and pains for what should be highly athletic players. The rehab process does not seem very good either.
  7. Better coaches OVERALL. But aren't some of the basic fundamentals learned in little league and the way they become a MLB player is because these fundaments are above average to excellent? How does a player who doesn't understand the fundamentals make it to the MLB to start with?
  8. Another item to throw in is without a way to watch them on TV is going to contribute to the declining ticket sales. Many fans like me want their team. Guys who play most of the season. Resting days are needed but getting ridiculous with the Twins who did their fair share of "resting". Resting for what? To make it to post season which they rarely do and when they do it is short lived. Buxton is supposed to be our Aaron Judge. It is sad to say but except for Buxton I would not recognize a single MN Twin player. IMO that is how you get a following. Spent $300 dollars on 4 tickets and neither Correa or Buxton played. If you could at least know the team it would be more incentive to go to a game. Otherwise it is like watching a bunch of no-name players.
  9. Starts at the top and obviously worked it's way down. The players were never held accountable either. The whole organization is a mess that we know from experience the Pohlad's really don't care. Most FO/Owners would have let Baldelli go after they got lost the series to Cleveland and then got swept by KC. We will be having this discussion at the end of every season for years to come. I am mostly discouraged by the promise of the Twins window of opportunity 3-4 years ago was supposed to be the start of that. By letting Berrios go (yes I know he had a tough year) showing they are not willing to keep the MLB caliber players by replacing them with players hoping to have one last shot. No different with Falvey and Levine as it was with other FO's. It will only get worse because ticket sales are plummeting and we will very soon be considered a small market team. I was able to watch the NYY/Blue Jays game last night and it was refreshing to see real MLB talented players again! I am going to go with Toronto as my team to go far in the play-offs! Have we heard a peep out of the Pohlad's?
  10. Huge concern! Not sure if they do not have solid conditioning plans and almost certain that they are not able to rehab most of the players. Too many to name!
  11. Seems to me that they were aware of Mahle's and Maeda's health before signing.
  12. I so hope this turns out to be true but for us it never quite happens that way.
  13. We have this conversation EVERY single year. 2-3 years ago was supposed to be their window of opportunity but instead every year is a total rebuild.
  14. FO for sure hasn’t delivered and should be fired. If a new front office is brought in Rocco should be gone so a new front office can choose their own manager. The FO has made way too many blunders and bad trades. Given the poor pitching, hitting and fielding it doesn’t appear the bench coaches can’t get it done either. And finally the medical staff. Injuries do happen but the Twins staff obviously has issues with rehabilitation. The players should be held to higher standards. If you can’t hit or make errors they don’t get benched. The only time we saw anything close to discipline was with Celestino last week. We don’t know what goes on behind the scenes but publicaly there hasn’t been a peep of an acknowledgement of failure from the Pohlad’s down. This season was way more of a total system failure than ever before.
  15. Perfect answer. We have been playing the if game forever. Sure we have a few ALC titles but no playoff wins. This team will most likely be ifffing for the next 10 years. Their window of opportunity is long gone with nothing to show.
  16. I certainly hope they are giving season ticket holders money back for the savings non season ticket holders will be getting
  17. If he did get to a superstar status, the Twins would find a way to let him go.
  18. Typical and never going to change. We will continue to bargain shop and when we do get a gem let them go with not much in return. We have been waiting 20 years for our window of opportunity. Last blow for me was letting Berrios go and then trying to find someone to replace him.
  19. I get notifications on my phone and don't know for most part if the players is a Twin or not. That's how "great" this team is.
  20. Baldelli should be fired right after todays game and the FO should be on probation at the least. So many blunders. Biggest one for me was letting Berrios go. They panicked and took what they could and it was absolutely NOTHING. I don't think Berrios wanted to stay though. No one wants to be stuck in an organization like this in the prime of their careers. We are all about getting the one last hope big name "ex" stars.
  21. I would say none. Been waiting 20 years for them to figure it out. Our "window of opportunity" was supposed to be a few years ago. What the heck happened to that?
  22. Kind of hilarious that they were careful with so many players. I assume it was so they would be at their best for post season. Especially pitchers getting pulled when they were on their way to pitching a gem. Well that logic didn’t work out very well. IMO many of the strains and aches and pains could be avoided if they had a better conditioning program. Proper stretching and warming up is very important. IMO gymnastics is much harder on knees/joints and muscles than baseball. Mine practice 4 days a week 5 hours at a time. Much of the time is spent with proper conditioning and warmups. Pitchers are certainly different than fielders. Fielders make 3-4 plays and hit 3-4 times. To me that doesn’t seem like it would take such a toll. Running the bases should not cause the injuries it does. Just seems odd that a sport like baseball can be that hard physically.
  23. Same thing year after year. The only way not to get frustrated is to come to terms that this team probably will never turn it around. They can’t or won’t get an Ace or even #2 quality pitcher. My guess is no pitcher in the prime of his career would not to waste it with the Twins. When we do get quality players they let them go for little to nothing. I am 100% sure Berrios did not want to stay. He has bigger goals. Probably 3-4 others that got out or want out. Instead they ALWAYS are looking for the cheaper players hoping for resurgence in their career. These players either get worse or can’t stay healthy.
  24. Maybe the scouting personnel needs to change? How did they NOT see the Mahle injury and what gave them the idea he would be able to play this season. I think an upgrade to the medical staff should be looked at as well.
